Education Study Abroad Programs in France

Take part in the French Language and European Studies program offered by USAC in Pau, France. The program provides students with the opportunity to study the French language intensively while taking academic courses. The Pau program's intensive language approach lets students complete the equivalent of up to one and a half years of language coursework in a university in only one semester. Participants can take additional courses in Art History, Culture, Film, Political Science, and Literature. These courses are taught either in French or English, depending on the semester. They also get the chance to enroll in integrated courses alongside international students at the University of Pau. Due to the global health status worldwide, USAC is making programmatic changes to summer, fall, and year-long programs, and some options might not be available. When class is in session at CIEE Paris, you'll select your course from various subject areas, including business, international relations, media and communication, art history, visual arts and literature, health, environmental issues, architecture, fashion, and the wine industry. The École Pratique de Service Social (EPSS), a historic social work school within CY Paris Université, awards accredited academic degrees that combine rigorous theory with professional practice. Its Paris Summer School of Social Work is a highly immersive and intensive program exploring the French social work system. You will live and study in Montpellier, an emerging center of education and culture in France. Home to around 100,000 university students, Montpellier is a young and dynamic city with easy access to the Mediterranean and the surrounding natural environment. All these aspects offer countless opportunities for exploration. Based at the University of Montpellier, this program is designed in conjunction with the University of Minnesota's College of Education and Human Development. It meets major requirements for students specializing in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, and Special Education. Courses aimed specifically at US education students are taught in English and adhere to required Minnesota state standards. It awards 15–17 credits per semester.

This program is designed for students taking a gap year and looking to spend it learning French while experiencing life in Paris. It’s perfect for those who want to fully immerse themselves in French language and culture—whether you’re planning a long-term stay in France, have a French partner, or simply wish to enjoy an unforgettable year in one of the world’s most iconic cities. It’s also ideal for students aiming to pursue higher education in France. The program is structured to help you reach a B2 level in French—the minimum language requirement for admission into most French universities. At the end of the course, you’ll have the opportunity to take the official DELF exam. With 15 hours of French classes per week, the program offers the flexibility to balance your studies with part-time work. As an international student in France, you're allowed to work up to 964 hours per year (approximately 20 hours per week), giving you the chance to gain valuable experience while supporting your stay.
