Amazing experience with AIFS!
August 20, 2025by: AyaI chose AIFS Abroad because I wanted a program that combined strong academic support with cultural experiences. I joined the London program, and it exceeded my expectations in every way. The pre-departure team guided me through each step, answering questions quickly and making me feel prepared before leaving. In London, the staff were welcoming and approachable, always checking in to make sure we were doing well. The housing was safe and well-located, which made daily life so much easier. I especially loved the excursions and cultural activities—they helped me explore London and other parts of the UK in ways I wouldn’t have managed on my own. What stood out most was the community I built. I met people who became close friends, and the experience gave me more independence and confidence. Professionally, I gained skills in adaptability and communication that I know will help me in the future. I’d recommend AIFS Abroad to anyone looking for a program that balances academics, culture, and support in a truly meaningful way.
Awesome !! Medical Summer School in Cambridge UK for my daughter with Lite Regal Education
March 21, 2025by: Calista Glockhard - CyprusProgram: Lite Regal Education Summer Medical School Preparation, UK
My daughter, Calista (16) from Cyprus, attended Lite Regal’s 3-week Medical School Preparation program in Cambridge, and it was an unforgettable experience! The 2-week Medical Taster Course covered anatomy, clinical skills, and medical ethics, with expert tutors who made learning engaging. The highlight was the 1-week hospital shadowing in a London hospital, where she observed real doctors and gained hands-on insight into the medical field. She stayed in Hughes Hall College, Cambridge, in a comfortable en-suite room, which made her experience even more enjoyable. Outside of lessons, she loved exploring Cambridge, punting on the River Cam, attending social events, and going on weekend trips. The program was well-organized, inspiring, and gave her a real taste of medical school life. Highly recommended for any aspiring doctor! Thank you, Lite Regal, for this life-changing opportunity. :))) Would recommend this school !! Good Vibes all around from staff and mentors who where friendly.

A once in a lifetime experience!
January 09, 2025by: Isabella Penzone - United StatesProgram: API: Experience London, England (Scholarships Available)
If I had to describe my study abroad experience in one word, it would be extraordinary. It was no question that I wanted to study abroad. Ever since my mom told me endless stories about her experience in college, I knew I needed to follow in her footsteps and become worldly. When it came to making a decision on where I wanted to go, London was my top choice. I had been to Europe before but never England. London always fascinated me with its dynamic cultural backgrounds and its plethora of entertainment. Once the location was settled, I then chose to go with API. During my application process, API was extremely helpful in assisting me with any questions or concerns I had. They helped make the application process easier and less stressful. API made my arrival to London very easy as they gave me clear instructions prior to my flight over. My Resident Director was also extremely approachable which made my adjustment to London seamless. I made amazing friends from API who I was fortunate enough to travel with during the semester. I also made great friends in my classes and am so glad they got to expose me to their ways of life in London. I went to London with an open mind and am extremely fortunate that I was able to expand my horizons. Going abroad taught me that it is so much more than attending classes and doing school work. I learned self reliance and gained so much confidence within myself. I cannot wait to bring back the knowledge I have obtained and share it with other students who want to go abroad and have the experience of a lifetime.

Changed my life
December 29, 2024by: Karlie Calloway - United StatesProgram: API: Experience London, England (Scholarships Available)
I did my study abroad with API in 2021 as regular covid was dying down and before omicron kicked in. There were some things changed because of the pandemic but they took a lot of precautions and I felt very safe doing my study abroad with them. I loved every second of it. They have a good amount of group activities where you can get to know other people but a great balance of free time outside of your courses to explore. I was able to do so much in the few months I was there and as soon as I left decided I needed to move back. I was accepted into grad school in London this year. This program gave me the opportunity to feel out a new place and learn to love it while having a support system of people familiar with the area. It absolutely changed my life for the better.

Best Summer Ever!!!
December 29, 2024by: Lizzie Minor - United StatesProgram: API: Experience London, England (Scholarships Available)
I did the London College of Fashion study abroad experience and it was the best summer of my life!!! API was extremely helpful in everything from getting off the plane at Heathrow to my last week in London, API made England feel like my home away from home!!!! I loved every second of it and was able to fully immerse myself into the new culture in England. API was there every step of the way planning fun events and making sure I was taken care of the whole time! They showed us the ropes of the tube and took us on tours all over London and even cities and towns outside of London! I seriously could not have asked for a better summer!

The best semester of college!
December 27, 2023by: Madeline Lannigan - United StatesProgram: AIFS Abroad in London, England: Semester Study + Internship

A Trip of a Lifetime!
September 21, 2023by: Emily Kane - United StatesProgram: API: Experience London, England (Scholarships Available)
Going to London for study abroad was exactly what I needed in my life. It gave the independence and the friendship I craved, but it also made me learn about different cultures and ways of life different from my own. I was able to go to so many tourist destinations in the city very easily using public transit. London's public transportation--although can get pricey--is one of the best on the planet and it was one of my favorite parts about studying aboard in London. My favorite places include Kew Gardens, the West End theater scene, The Tower of London, Camden Markets, The National Gallery, The Victoria and Albert Museum, etc. and that's not including all the things in did in England overall. And a decent amount of museums are free which helps with budget planning for tourist things. However, if you are not into culture or learning about culture, this city isn't for you. Music, art, religion, and history spill into every direction in London and you have to be prepared to soak it all in. There were a few criticisms and warnings about this program that I will advise; however, despite all of this, this program was well worth the cost. The living situation had it's ups and downs. If you are used to living in a crowded dorm or house, and need privacy and space, the living situation is great! The only things you will have to share are the kitchen, common room, and laundry machines for the most part. The bathrooms in each room are incredibly tiny though, so I wouldn't buy like a rolling shower caddy because it won't fit. A lot of people I knew put the shower curtain over the toilet to give themselves extra room. A constant problem I had was that the bathroom would flood as the rain would clog every two or three showers, so cleaning the bathroom constantly was a must. Also, the place I lived didn't provide almost any cleaning supplies which for a four month stay with only two suitcases worth of stuff is quite inconvenient. So, If I were to repack for this trip, I would forgo majority of clothes I brought and bring cleaning supplies instead particularly a travel Swiffer, a duster, Clorox wipes, mini trash bags, and felt foldable bins for multi purpose storage. I luckily brought 3 felt foldable storage bins which I used to store clothes in the closet and as a trash can. Because yah you can buy that stuff there, and I did, but the place I lived didn't have a good vacuum or mop and the floors got so gross. Plus, Primark clothes are so good and cheap. Also, if you are trying to budget for stuff prior to your trip, save at least 10-20 pounds each week for laundry. Laundry was one of the more expensive and inconvenient things in London. I would not save all your laundry for when you have time, but do one small load a week. But actually considering all that, food in the grocery store was not that expensive compared to American prices. The grocery stores are smaller and don't have as much of a selection, but if you actually do the conversions you will save so much on groceries. I normally spent about 10-20 pounds on groceries a week on about 5-10 items whereas in the United States on the same amount of items, I spent 70 dollars. Trust me, I cry every time I enter an American grocery store now. Overall, this program was absolutely amazing. The pros outweighed the cons by a significant amount. I got to meet so many people, and have so many adventures. Before my trip, I had a lot more regret because of my choices. I constantly wished for a time machine. But if I went on a different path academically or socially, I wouldn't have had this experience and it really made up for hardship I went with before. So if you are considering going but are thinking about all the things you will miss on campus or missing your friends, I would still go because think about the new friends and adventures you are missing by not going. Trust me, your friends will be waiting for you once you get back. I wouldn't have trade this experience for anything as the impact it had on my mental health and self esteem was priceless.

Tea and the Tube: Living like a London Local
September 01, 2023by: Vylynn Nguyen - United StatesProgram: API: Experience London, England (Scholarships Available)
The past me would never have agreed to study abroad. I was afraid and scared, as I was never the person who took on challenges. I was always the person who played it safe. However, studying abroad in London taught me that it is okay to take risks without knowing the challenges ahead. I want to thank my good friend Emily, who persuaded me to study abroad. I gave her the story of how I could not study abroad this year because it did not align with my schedule, and she said, "Just do it anyway, this is the perfect year to do it." (Context: I was set to graduate one year early." She was studying abroad at her university in London around the same time as me, but she is the type of person who helps me break out of my shell and lets me be the best version of myself. Also, thank you to the API Abroad team for being so patient, they are seriously the sweetest team of people ever. The three weeks that I have been in London have felt like I was there for one week. The first day was very scary and I was thinking, "Will I like London?" It is obviously a challenge to be by yourself in a country for the first time. I felt like an American tourist due to how I was asking literally every British local on how to navigate the tube. It felt scary because I am the type of person to easily get lost and using my iPhone for Maps caused my battery to decrease faster than usual. But then, the fear of annoying every British local turned to me feeling like a British local. Comfortably, I was able to go solo to the tube by myself and go to places where I never would have imagined going by myself. I found out that I love musical theatre. I was in London and musicals are what they do best (besides New York, and I have never been there sadly). I went to Crazy For You (with a friend), Wizard Of Oz, Moulin Rouge, SpongeBob SquarePants, and Matthew Bourne's Romeo and Juliet dance production. Going to these fun events by myself helped my confidence grow day by day and me having not have to worry about social pressure. I did what I wanted to do in London and that is the beauty of doing things solo. It made me stronger as a person and helped my fears of doing things by myself in a big, diverse city. The education between the U.S. and the U.K. is very different. I was afraid I might have not set my priorities straight since I am here to learn (of course!) and not on vacation. I loved the hands-on experience because my professor planned the field trips 7 months in advance. What an honor as we went to The CommonWealth and the IMO (stands for International Maritime Organization). We also had guest speakers who worked in very prestigious companies and shared their expertise with a group of future business leaders (us!). It was such an amazing experience and I am so grateful to have a professor like Dr. Evangelos Markopoulos and UCL for giving me the opportunity to go to their summer school. API Abroad did such an amazing job of providing fun and unique excursions to us! I only went to a few which is Jack The Ripper Tour (was so afraid, but so interesting since I love true crime). Additionally, I went to the production of The Tempest. I find that maybe Shakespeare is not my cup of tea and that is alright. Another excursion I went to was the StoryBook dinner which I tried British food (steak and ale pie with sticky toffee pudding). The storyteller did such an amazing job telling us the story of London and his thoughts on Prince Harry. Overall, I can not complain about how API Abroad is so, so nice. We don't talk about the housing. The showers were so small, but the employees at our accommodation were so helpful and sweet. Let's just say I do not miss the showers but I am so grateful to live in a place that felt safe for me as a woman. Now, all I can think about my study abroad trip is to go back to London immediately (during Christmas of course!). To talk about my experience in a Taylor Swift song...all I can think of is the song "All You Had To Do Was Stay" (Taylor's Version)! I wish I did stay but thank you to API Abroad and UCL!

So happy I made this decision!
November 07, 2022by: Lauren Martz - United StatesOriginally when I was deciding where I wanted to go to college, I was set on following a more "normal" path and attending a 4-year college in the states. When I didn't get accepted into my dream school in the fall, I was devastated. But I am so glad I decided to study with Verto Education! With Verto I'm still able to attend my dream school in the spring, and stay on track to graduate in 4 years! It has been such an amazing experience to study abroad in London. One of my favorite aspects of Verto's programming is the excursions - there are some required and some that are optional. With Verto I've been able to travel all around the UK to places like Stonehenge, Edinburgh, Oxford, and more, all included in my tuition! Since my classes only meet once a week (with no classes on Friday!) I've also been able to travel to places outside the UK and explore London. There is never a shortage of things to do in London! Verto students all live in the same fully furnished apartment complex within walking distance of the newly renovated study center. The living accommodation is in a safe area that is very close to grocery stores, gyms, restaurants, shopping, etc. My only complaint would be that I wish there was a bit more organization in regard to the communication from Verto, but otherwise, everything has been fantastic!
My Verto experience: Perfect!
November 04, 2022by: Ethan Daley - United StatesBeing able to start my college life in London was a completely different experience than what I had expected. However, choosing this path was perfect, as I was not just able to live in a completely different country, but I was also able to get college credits and therefore still be able to graduate in the same amount of time. The staff here has been extremely helpful, providing a laid-back environment where I can learn but still have fun. They have organized different excursions to help us explore different parts of the country, which is perfect for those who love to travel. If you like to explore and want to try something different than the "conventional" pathway, Verto is perfect for you.
Best decision I’ve ever made
August 31, 2022by: Kylie Poss - United StatesTraveling abroad to London with Verto was easily the best decision of my life! They have such an incredible community of staff, teachers, and students and provide an incredible academic and housing experience. Students get to live in a fully furnished flat and there are student life and academic coordinators on site to assist with any needs. The location is in an amazing, beautiful and safe area and classes are just a walk away. Traveling with Verto Education was the best decision I’ve ever made and I would highly highly recommend to anyone interested!
Life changing and future defining
September 29, 2020by: Halle Paredes - United StatesI studied abroad with IFSA at UCL during the Fall 2019 semester. Not only did I make friends that I'll have for the rest of my life through IFSA's program, I also experienced academic growth sand development that was so formative that I decided I want to return to London for a masters degree. IFSA organized a trip to the Lake District, where I got to learn more about the vikig history in the UK and went on hikes and climbs. IFSA took care of everything. IFSA staff was also super receptive when I needed help registering for classes and when I had questions about access to medical care. The staff was so fun and kind and I felt supported the whole semester. I'm so grateful for my time at UCL and with IFSA, and my greatest piece of advice for perspective students is to apply!!
Seamless, exceptional study abroad
September 25, 2020by: Julia Lu - United StatesStudying abroad through IFSA- University College London (UCL) was one of the best decisions I made. IFSA smoothed out all the logistics of studying abroad, and UCL provided me with an excellent education. I always wanted to study abroad in London because it’s one of the world’s most prominent financial hubs. This has ought to be one of the most seamless and best experiences that I’ve had thus far in my life!
Learning to navigate the city
September 19, 2020by: Erica C - United StatesOverall, I had a great experience studying abroad at the University of Westminster with IFSA. IFSA provided a lot of resources and support throughout my study abroad experience, and I enjoyed a lot of the activities they had planned for us. Moving along, the University of Westminster program is great for someone who really wants to be immersed into the city and sort of dictate their own study abroad experience. The university consists of a few buildings about a mile away from each other (exception to one building which is quite far) that are immersed into the city. Because of this, most of the peers I met from classes I would only see once a week in that class. For that reason, I became very independent and began to explore the city a lot myself. As someone who came from a small school with a close-knit community, this took some time to adjust to. However, as soon as I adjusted, I learned to enjoy it a lot. I got to explore a lot in the city, and also made friends with some other study abroad students. As for the academics side, personally, I did not find the business courses (which took up most of my schedule) to be that rigorous or engaging. That being said, I took one course in the social sciences, and I really enjoyed it. I think if academics is not a main focus for you while studying abroad, the University of Westminster is a great university to allow you to balance exploring London and immersing yourself in the culture along with maintaining your academics.
Maximizing my college experience through studying abroad in London
September 06, 2020by: Annette Senesi - United StatesFor many years, it was a dream of mine to spend a semester abroad in London. In my junior year of college, I was finally able to make that dream a reality, and I had the best time of my life. Looking through a list of approved programs offered by my school, Colgate University, I found a number of options for studying in London through the Institute for Study Abroad (IFSA). Even from that initial moment of interest, IFSA was very helpful by offering clear, specific information on their programs. I ended up choosing the program at University College London (UCL), and was beyond eager for my semester to start. The advisors at IFSA were extremely eager to help in any way they could. I often reached out to email my program advisor with questions of different kinds - about credits transferring over, about switching from the department that I had initially applied and been accepted to in order to be in the Arts and Sciences department at UCL, questions about housing and visas - you name it, I asked it! My advisor was always so willing to answer my questions and left me feeling really supported. This support was extended along every step of the program, especially when we arrived in London. Immediately, the IFSA staff in London made me, and all students on the program, feel very welcomed. I really appreciated that they made themselves so accessible to us for anything we needed. I went to coffee chats to ask questions and discuss how my program was going so far, went to the IFSA headquarters in London multiple times to express my goals for the semester and how it was coming along, and connected with the staff on the programming that IFSA offered students. There were so many opportunities to connect with the staff and students alike on the program, and one of my favorite events was the trip to The Shard at the end of the semester, the tallest building in the UK, where we all gathered and reminisced on the program while enjoying the beautiful views. I made friends with my flatmates who were also doing the IFSA program at UCL, and we often went out together on day trips or explored the city together. Just as much as I enjoyed my experience with IFSA staff and the support I received, I also really appreciated my time at UCL, London's global university. The students and faculty at UCL were so diverse, which really allowed me to gain different perspectives within the classroom. As part of the Arts and Sciences department, I took classes called Sustainable Energy, and Race, Gender and Feminism. The other two classes I took were in different departments: Understanding Social Policy, and Democracy and Authoritarianism. These classes were really intriguing and I appreciated the multidisciplinary approaches to the classes, as well as the breadth of knowledge I was able to gain from taking these diverse courses. Though in a lot of ways UCL was very different from my home university, I came to really enjoy UCL and its large campus. I still felt very supported by staff - I had an advisor who was very helpful during the course registration period - and by the Professors and teaching assistants who held office hours and made themselves available for any questions I had. It was really beneficial for me to get to know the different students of various backgrounds, hear different perspectives, and broaden my world view, and this really helped transform me into a global citizen. There were always so many events and programming happening on campus, and so many different clubs, societies, and organizations to get involved in. Overall, my time spent studying abroad in London at UCL through IFSA's program is something I will cherish forever and look back on fondly. I was able to immerse myself in a foreign culture, explore new places I once only dreamed about visiting, and learn so many new things, both about the world and myself. I strongly believe that studying abroad has allowed me to grow into a more independent, well-versed, flexible, and open-minded student and person. I find that I am now more comfortable in new situations and places, I am able to adapt more easily to new settings, and I have an expanded world-view based on being in a foreign, highly diverse setting. I highly recommend taking the opportunity to study abroad in London, and especially through one of IFSA's programs. They will provide you with the support you need, help foster a sense of community, and help you really explore what the city, and country, has to offer through various planned trips and activities! All of these things will allow you to make the most out of your time abroad and really immerse yourself in that setting.

Amazing experience
April 07, 2020by: Ellie Crawford - United StatesProgram: API: Experience London, England (Scholarships Available)
I studied abroad with API during the fall 2009 semester and my experience still positively impacts my life 10 years later! I loved all the things that were included in the program, such as the excursions and cultural events, and I felt truly supported by the API staff both in the US and abroad. While in London, API gave me the opportunity to grow more independent and confident and I developed a love of travel. I am still great friends with many people I met while abroad. I highly recommend every student study abroad!
Just the right amount of guidance
November 29, 2019by: Jess Keniston - United StatesI had a blast living in London for the semester. IFSA was extremely helpful with the pre-departure aspect of my time abroad, and mainly helped get us set up in London with our housing and academic plans. For me, this was the perfect level of help since I like to be relatively independent and was happy to be more on my own once I had moved into my dorm. They help tackle the scariest parts of preparing for and arriving to a new country, and then provide occasional trips or get-togethers throughout the semester, as well as being there for any concerns during the program. It can be really difficult to make friends in such a big city, so I'm glad I got to meet so many cool people during IFSA orientation.
The semester of growth
November 09, 2019by: Ramisa Tasnim - United StatesI spent my spring semester junior year studying abroad in London, England at King's College London with IFSA and it was one the best semester of my college career. From the beginning of the application process, IFSA provided me with a program advisor who assisted me in every way of the process. After I was accepted into the program I received the same support and applied to the scholarship program and the work to study program that IFSA provides. Both of these resources helped me finance my study abroad experience which was very helpful as a first-generation and student. IFSA also provided me with specific and informational material about what to expect and bring to London. When I first arrived at London IFSA's orientation program helped me acclimate to the city and I was able to purchase some personal products, an oyster card and exchange my money. At King's, there were many interesting options for classes. I took a few classes in my major and a class in climate geography which was very new. Classes were great and the professors were interactive and understanding. I will say that it is important to understand that the university structure in England is very independent so you have to be aware of deadlines and upcoming exams and papers (they are VERY strict with deadlines and extensions). Academically I struggled with my geography class because I was unaware of the background information and it was a very science-based class. However with my IFSA program advisor's advice and recommendation, I communicated my concerns to my Professors who gave me some extra materials, and I received help from the study skill resource on King's campus. While abroad, finding my community was not as difficult as I thought. IFSA allowed me to meet other IFSA students during orientation and through their scheduled events and programs (such as a trip to the Lake District), I found a lot of friends from these interactions. I also found one of my closest friends abroad during one of my classes. So, it was relatively easy to find friends and meet new people because there is plenty of opportunities to interact with students. Unlike other programs IFSA allowed me to be as independent as I wanted throughout my study abroad experience. I attended many of the programs they scheduled but I also attended King events such as "open mic nights and cultural events". While my study abroad experience was wonderful and I received many opportunities there were times of difficulty. One of my closest friends passed away and I got pickpocketed in Paris and lost my passport and credit cards. These events were tough and I couldn't have navigated the entire processes if not for the IFSA London staff. They were truly so kind, and even went out of their way to help me cancel my credit cards and order new ones, and they found me a professional to talk too after my friend passed away. As a student of color and faith, I was nervous about going to study abroad but I was so impressed by the resources that IFSA and Kings have. Everyone was supportive and understanding and I felt truly like a part of London's community.
