SIT gave me a second family
March 05, 2026by: Grace Wilson - United StatesSIT was one of my favorite parts of my college experience, and probably my life. I met some of my best friends to this day on this program. You get to know your classmates and professors very well and they become a second family. From camping in the Serengeti and seeing the Great Migration pass by my very eyes, to living with a host family that takes care of you as their own, I had the study abroad experience of a lifetime.

SIT Tanzania Study Abroad
March 04, 2026by: Meredith LoneyProgram: SIT Study Abroad: Tanzania: Zanzibar Coastal Ecology
I would recommend the SIT Tanzania program to anyone. It is a perfect mix of having interesting lectures, often with guest speakers, learning how to do your own research project, cultural immersion, and just having an amazing time with so many new friends!
Tashi Delek!
February 18, 2026by: Phoebe Smith - United StatesProgram: SIT Study Abroad: Nepal: Himalayan and Buddhist Peoples
I recently completed the SIT Nepal: Tibetan and Himalayan Peoples program and am so grateful for the experience, connections made, and time spent in Nepal. While there were so many highlights to my experience with SIT in Nepal, among my favorite memories/takeaways were my homestay (whom I am still in contact with), fabulous and welcoming Tibetan gen-las (teachers), and excursions to Dharamsala, India and Manang. Throughout this program I felt the SIT staff encouraged me to challenge myself but were also incredible resources for my overall well-being. I felt especially supported by SIT as I embarked on my ISP where I spent 19 days in the Solukhumbu (Everest) region conducting ethnographic research on the Sherpa population. I am so grateful for this truly once-in-a-lifetime experience and know it will shape the remainder of my life. I cannot recommend this program enough and look forward to remaining connected with friends/teachers from the program for years to come.

I honestly don't know where the idea of me studying abroad stemmed from. No one in my family had done it before me, so I had no examples to follow. But, once I declared my Global Studies major, I was required to study abroad, which ultimately led to my decision to study abroad for two semesters!

Since I was in third grade, there was nothing I wanted more than to just go abroad. My favorite toy was a globe and I would spend hours dreaming of where I would go some day. During my freshman year, I went to visit my university's study abroad office and been the process of deciding where I would spend a semester or year of my life. After jumping from Finland to Jordan to Colombia to Mexico, I finally settled on Bolivia and sealed the deal.
