Know how to make learning fun and engaging
February 12, 2026by: Maryline LangletProgram: Internships at Companies and Service-Learning in Seville
I had an exceptional experience at the Spanish Institute. The teachers are not only very competent, but they are also passionate about their work and know how to make learning fun and engaging. The atmosphere at the school is warm, the classes are well-structured and suitable for all levels, and the excursions are very interesting and well organized. I highly recommend this school!!!! Thanks to Gloria, Maria-Jose, Belen, and Gloria!!! Thanks to everyone!!

Buenísimo. Todas las personas, maestros, familias anfitrionas y personas de practicas fueron muy amable y símpatico. He hecho una practica por 8 semanas y me encantó mucho. Recomiendo que hagas una experiencia sevillana aquí Excellent. Everyone—the teachers, host families, and people at my internship—were very kind and friendly. I did an 8-week internship and loved it very much. I highly recommend having a Sevillian experience here!
One of the best experiences in my life
January 20, 2026by: Ribhi OthmanProgram: Internships at Companies and Service-Learning in Seville
I have attended the one month service-learning program in the field of education. So far this was one of the best experiences in my life. Living in seville was amazing. Seeding Lurdes big hugs, she was the woman who hosted me in her house, she is the best! At first I had a bit of a hard time because I wasn’t understanding everything in Spanish, but after a couple of days it has improved significantly. Having Spanish classes and having to use Spanish to communicate with everyone around me made me acquire the language much faster. Also the Team of the Spanish institute - Paula, Macarena, Maria Jose, Gloria and Rocio were all amazing and sweet and had so much patience with us the students. Living alone in a new country with a new language for a month at the age of 18 was such a positive experience, I learned lots of things in this journey and I enjoyed it so much! For those attending I really recommend two main things: 1. Asking the Spanish institute when they are receiving students and how many, and to start the program with them. Because in this way it will be easier to make friends and have people to know and spend time with during your stay. I was so lucky to meet the American students there who came to seville for a study abroad program, and other girls from Europe and my roommate who was from brazil, they were all amazing. Therefore I recommend starting the program when the institute receives a new group of students. 2. Having a background in the Spanish language. I feel like this is very important, it would have been very hard for me if i attended there without knowing a little bit of spanish before, I think it’s very important and would make things easier. You don't have to be fluent or anything, but just knowing basic things in the language. I am really grateful I decided to attend this program, and I miss seville so much!
Money well spent!
December 14, 2024by: Rebecca Gordon - United StatesWe were hesitant about sending our daughter so far away to "reset" herself. High school wasn't a successful four years and we desperately something for her to believe in her abilities again. Wow....did this program do that! The closeness of the group and support from the organization turned our daughter around. She loved the adventure and thrived both personally and professionally. The communication from the team was super. I reached out whenever I needed anything, and they were quick to respond. Who won't regret this adventure for your child or yourself.
I had the most amazing experience!!!!
November 28, 2024by: Audrey Ratcliffe - United StatesI participated in Spanish Gap Year's Future Leaders program in the fall of 2024 and I had the most amazing experience. We started out in Madrid for the first 4 weeks and stayed with a host family. While in Madrid we took Spanish classes at Tandem. Tandem is so amazing and I had the absolute best time there. For the last 8 weeks we stayed in Barcelona and had internships. Barcelona is so beautiful and fun to explore so there was never a dull moment. If I could, I would do this program all over again.
Summer in Barcelona
August 20, 2024by: Maia Brombart - United StatesProgram: Internships & Study Abroad in Spain & Latin America
I spent the summer in Barcelona shadowing psychologists at an assisted living residence. My coworkers were kind and helpful, and the patients were charming and sweet. The local program advisor was very helpful to me and my friends in the program anytime we needed anything. I also completed 2 weeks of Spanish classes prior to my internship. My Spanish improved tremendously, as did my professional skills. I feel that this program exceeded my expectations and helped to prepare me for a career in psychology. In addition to this, Barcelona was just an incredible city with so much life and character--I never ran out of things to do or places to see.
Amazing dynamic program!
August 01, 2024by: Charlie Thomajan - United StatesThe Spanish classes alone provided a ton of hands on learning. However, the entrepreneurship and internship portions are what provided a level of experience that has changed my life. With the internship portion you are given the opportunity to explore a field of your interests while making connections within the field and learning real business and work skills. The entrepreneurial portion provided invaluable experience where one can create and chase their ideas while working with mentors who have real credible experience. The skills of forming, creating, and pitching an idea as a real world entrepreneur is invaluable. You will learn public speaking, networking, how to ask for help, what works and what doesn’t with business, and a million other practical real world skills.
Amazing group pre-professional experience in Spain!
July 21, 2024by: Grace Wheelan - United StatesThe Spanish Gap Year staff is incredibly diligent, knowledgeable and caring, and this combination fosters an incredible environment to explore future career opportunities alongside a group of peers while immersing yourself in a new country. The program balances busy days that bring together Spanish language, entrepreneurship and individualized internships with plenty of independence to explore the cities you live in as well as the rest of Spain and even other parts of Europe if you choose! The support from program leaders in helping me fulfill my individual goals for the experience was truly one of a kind and I learned so much during 3 months, both in the classroom and in terms of maturity and independence from living in foreign cities. I would 100% recommend this program to anyone who has ambitious future goals, wants to expand their worldview, and is looking for a tight-knit group of peers to explore with!

Experience of a Lifetime!
July 02, 2024by: Sophia Bitner - United StatesProgram: Internships & Study Abroad in Spain & Latin America
I had an incredible experience with Adelante Abroad in Barcelona. I did a gap year after high school and had the time of my life. The team gave me lots of support leading up to my departure. Someone came and picked me up from the airport and toke me to my accommodation which was in a very central, safe area! The Spanish school was great and I made lots of friends which I stayed close to for my whole time in Barcelona. My internship itself was better than I could have ever asked for. The office was incredible and I loved the team I worked with. I learned new skills and I met people that will become lifelong friends. Overall, I truly had the experience of a lifetime. Barcelona has become a second home to me and I could not be more grateful for my time there! 10/10 experience and highly recommend.
Would highly recommend!
January 03, 2022by: Jennifer Glancey - United KingdomProgram: Internships & Study Abroad in Spain & Latin America
I did a legal internship in Oaxaca for three months with Adelante and it exceeded my expectations. I met the best people and lived in a great location with a kind host family and the best internship placement. My spanish has definitely improved thanks to the spanish lessons at the beginning as well as all the other people I met including those at my internship who were very patient and taught me a lot of legal and complex terms. If you are independent and enjoy exploring the city and having great opportunities for cultural immersion and meeting new people this is definitely a great program and excellent value for money. It really helped with my university application and I will definitely be returning to Oaxaca!
My dream internship
December 11, 2019by: catherine pierce - United StatesI could not have asked for a better internship placement. It is exactly in the industry that I want and gave me really valuable insight into non-profit work. The staff I worked under were incredibly kind and patient. They had no problem helping me navigate through my tasks and cultural misunderstandings. I learned so much more than technical skills. My on-site staff at CEA (my coordinator Caro and professor Kevin) were so helpful and helped me keep going even when the semester got really hard.
This is music to our ears, Catherine! We are so glad you had a wonderful time interning abroad with CEA in Seville, and we are proud of your accomplishments and look forward to seeing how this internship abroad has influenced your career path. Be sure to stop by and say hello the next time you find yourself in Seville, and we wish you all the best!
My internship in Spanish institute
May 31, 2019by: José María Díaz Cid - SpainProgram: Internships at Companies and Service-Learning in Seville
My experience at Spanish Institute has been very enriching. The three months of my internship have passed very fast, I have lived many experiences, known new places and work alongside with people that anyone would like to have at their placement. Within the company, they welcome you, teach you and make you grow as a worker as well as a person. If you have the opportunity to do an internship in Spanish Institute, take advantage of it and go for it. Apart from learning both English and Spanish, they train you for work opportunities and give you their support whenever you need it.
One of my best summer
May 31, 2019by: Khalifah Al theyab - Saudi ArabiaProgram: Internships at Companies and Service-Learning in Seville
I have done an internship and studied Spanish at SIGE. It is my second time with SIGE. The experience is amazing as usual. They are very friendly and welcoming. The accommodation was excellent ( Safe and clean ) and It was not far from SIGE. As well as that, It was also not far from the city center. The Spanish classes with Sandra were great and I learned & improved a lot. My internship, on the other hand, was super cool. I was more than happy to practice my skills in photo editing and video editing, as well as participating in developing marketing & advertising strategies. I had an amazing time and it is sad to leave. However, I am looking forward to coming back again next summer.
Great people; great place
May 17, 2019by: Rachel Crawford - United StatesCEA Seville is an amazing program with great staff that are very kind, helpful and courteous of your situation. When it comes to issues, I had a course at one of their local universities, EUSA. The class itself was not greatly administered and I felt lost, but that is definitely not CEA’s fault in the matter. As for the city itself, the city itself is beautiful with the old meeting the new. it’s history, landscape and nightlife make it a great place to strive and learn. Seville is very affordable compared to other major cities and is just the right size. I loved my time here. I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
Rachel, thank you for sharing your thoughts about your time in Seville with CEA. We always appreciate the feedback and work to incorporate students’ suggestions to improve our offerings, so please email [email protected] if you would like to send any feedback on this course. We are so glad you had a wonderful experience in Seville, and “I wouldn’t trade it for the world” is music to our ears!
A summer in Seville
July 24, 2018by: Jaci - United StatesProgram: Business Internships in Seville with Adelante Abroad
All in all, I absolutely loved my 3-month internship program in Seville, Spain! It was an amazing experience that I will always remember, and I'm grateful to Adelante for making it possible. To help you learn about this program, here is my pros and cons list (Specifically related to Adelante, as listing the pros of a summer in Europe would take pages!): Pros: - Housing, schooling, & internship completely arranged - Great pre-departure materials & in-country contacts - Regular checking-in by Adelante staff (except during the month right before departure, since I applied early. It would have been nice to receive an "you're about ready to leave, do you have any final questions/here are a few tips for you," but overall I felt like I was always in contact with Adelante - Friendly internship environment: My coworkers were funny and wonderful and very flexible with all my weekend travels! - Airport pick-up: It was so nice to have someone pick me up around midnight and take me to my apartment! - Independence: This is a very, very independent program (especially not doing a homestay), which was perfect for me, but it can be challenging! - Excellent language classes (but only for 2 weeks :() Cons: - Housing (Apartment): roommates. This is a gamble in any situation and can't be fully blamed on Adelante, but I had one very messy roommate who didn't follow house rules or necessarily respect privacy. Additionally, halfway through my program, my landlord (without contacting me first) rented a room to a man. He was very nice, but I wasn't aware that housing could be co-ed, and that is important to me. Also, my housing wasn't necessarily "convenient" - about 30 minutes from the city center by bus, but my neighborhood was very nice and I sometimes appreciated being out of the center. - Internship: I love my company, Pod Group, and my coworkers, but I requested an "International Business" internship and actually received a marketing internship. I'm not pursuing a career in marketing, but the skills I learned at my internship are somewhat related to my interests of management, HR, and international studies, so it was still worthwhile. But know that you may not find your "perfect" internship! Also, my internship was entirely in English, which is both a pro and con, since it was very easy to understand my work, but I didn't get the full Spanish immersion I was hoping for. - Language Classes: My only complaint is that they were only for 2 weeks, because I loved them and I would have appreciated more! - Prepared Excursions: Although I made a lot of friends in Spain, it would have been nice to have a bi-weekly or monthly excursion with other interns! Seville doesn't get as many interns as Barcelona and Madrid, and it was hard to meet some of the interns (though the ones I did meet were wonderful!) I like having my independence, but it would have been nice to have more events - one free flamenco show was provided, and it was very fun! Overall, this experience was truly once in a lifetime and I would definitely recommend it to someone else! My biggest advise is to just be flexible and outgoing (I'm introverted, but I learned to be more extroverted here). Traveling to and living alone in a foreign country is no easy task, but I've grown professionally and personally and I can't wait to return to Seville in the future! I am very grateful to Adelante for making my dream summer come true.
