Summer High School Programs in Barcelona, Spain

My great time spent in Barcelona started from being picked from an airport and transported to accommodation, to accommodation i have only one con and thatt was a little complicated communication with staff, the school looked really good from outside and inside so it was nice being there, with the school i had a little problem and it was that i had a feeling i learnt almost nothing and from the trip i think i have improved more in emglish than spanish, but maybe that might be my fault too. After all i really enjoyed and made some friends and it was totally worth it.

I spent two weeks of July in Barcelona with Expanish School and it was one of the best experiences of my life. In two weeks I learned a lot thanks to the teachers and the trips we did during the week and in the weekends. I got to know some amazing people that became my friends and with them I shared this magnificent experience. My host family was so lovely, they immediately made me feel comfortable and at home. Now that my experience has finished I find myself thinking about the days spent in Barcelona with Expanish. I already recommended the school to my friends because I think it is really really valid.

My host family was amazing, the teacher was very nice and helpful and I could learn a lot. The activities were fun and were helping me learn more about the place and the culture. Unfortunately not many people my age were attending them but they were still very fun

Personally I found that the program was an amazing way to improve my Spanish skills while also enjoying my summer break. My language class teacher and all other staff were really friendly and always willing to help me out when I needed anything. Even though, I came to Expanish without knowing anyone it was really easy to connect with my classmates and make friends. Many of them lived in the same student residence as I did which was very convenient since we could take the train together to go to class or meet up in the lobby to do some sightseeing. Overall, I can really recommend this program!

I had an amazing time… I met a lot of new people and did a lot of new things. I also got the chance of talking with locals and improve my skills and also I enjoyed a lot all the activities that the school offered. Can’t wait to come back again

This program fostered the creation of friendships I genuinely believe will last a lifetime. The people I've met here and the experiences I shared with them are some of the best memories I've made in recent years.

During my summer holidays, I flew to Barcelona solo for a week. I throughly enjoyed my time there. From the moment I arrived, the staff were welcoming, friendly and well-organised, which is a key element to cultural success! The itinerary was a perfect mix of educational activities, cultural immersion, and free time to explore. Due to the course being a new program, I'd recommend next year more activities for students, as because I was only there for a week I wasn't able to participate in as much. The professors were excellent, a shoutout to Rani, the best week in her classes! The group dynamic was great too. There was a mix of nationalities and backgrounds, which made for really interesting conversations and friendships. I made lots of new friends too which I was nervous about, so don't worry about that! . I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to combine language learning with cultural discovery. It was an incredible & unforgettable experience. I hope to visit Expanish again, whether it's in Barcelona or in one of their partner schools.

Amazing experience being able to visit a country I've never seen before. Here in Barcelona as a part of Spanish Language and Culture, I've significantly improved my skills with espanol and taken in the beauty of this city on the Mediterranean. I've loved the structure of our days here - planned activity or excursion, class time with engaging projects, and free time to enjoy ourselves. One month passed very quickly with CIEE!

My daughter stayed with a host family outside of Barcelona. With the help of Oui-Connect, the experience was easy to arrange and we felt comfortable with the host family and with the program. She had so much fun. The family had two girls her age who shared similar interests as my daughter. They explored many places including the southern mountain town of Estavar in France, the Spanish beach town of Pineda de Mar, Montblanc and, of course, spent a lot of time exploring Barcelona. They took her to Tibidabo amusement park and to see a divised opera at a university in Barcelona. She had so much fun spending time with the family and learning about their culture. Her spanish improved greatly and, I'm sure she will visit the family again. We had ZERO issues and would absolutely recommend Oui-Connect.

Our daughter, Sammy, spent 3 weeks in Spain with an incredible host family who took her in as one of their own. She had a marvelous time delving into Catalan culture and the Spanish language, enjoying weekend excursions, extended family gatherings, as well as ordinary daily activities such as shopping and cooking. This was Sammy’s first trip anywhere by herself; she came home so much more confident, open and really appreciative of this opportunity and new friendships. This experience was not only fun but also extremely eye-opening and informative. I made so many life long connections and learned more about myself and the world. I think everyone deserves the chance to experience something like this. The most memorable experience in this program was our trip to Tibidabo. It was the end of the first week and I had a blast exploring the park with my new friends. The church there was also beautiful.

This is a very once in a lifetime experience and if you have the opportunity to get a scholarship and go to a different country for a month or more, you will have such a better prospective on the world and grow in so many ways

My son loved this program. He was well taken care of, well fed and exposed to so many new and different experiences. Despite being the youngest in his group, everyone was inclusive and engaging. Thank you Abby Road! My younger son wants to go on a trip next year!!

I loved this experience truly so much and I would stay for longer if I could. everything about this was amazing but truly the connections and relationships I made with people made it the most worth it. I loved the weekend trips to Tibidabo and Tarragona.

This summer I went with the experiment to Spain. I had a lot of fun with my experiment group, and made what I believe to be long lasting friendships. I was very immersed in the Spanish culture, and was able to learn the Spanish language as well. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is worried about leaving the country without any guidance. It’s also great for people who do not have the means/experience to travel on their own or with family. It is a fantastic first step for seeing the world.

I spent 4 weeks in Barcelona Spain with Abbey Road, I was apprehensive about going at first because I had never been away from my family for that long, much less alone in a country where I didn't know anyone. I can say with confidence now, that Abbey Road gave me the best month of my life. It was difficult going into a program where I didn't know anyone but I was able to make amazing friends from all over the country. We stayed in an Apartment hotel and being so close to the program organizers and other people on the program allowed me to make meaningful connections with incredible people. I can confidently say I know Barcelona very well and I gained a completely new perspective on language and culture outside of my own. I went on this program to improve my Spanish, which I absolutely did, I am now taking my forth year of in school Spanish as an AP. Furthermore, by interacting with locals who spoke no English and opting to speak only Spanish when I could, I was able to become a more confident communicator and overcome my anxieties about speaking up and really build myself as an independent individual. I learned how communication requires a mutual effort and compromise and what an integral part of the human experience it is. That value of communication and that newfound understanding of how easy it can be to connect beyond words still sticks with me months after. In this program I was offered more independence then I have ever had at home which I was able to devote to new experiences. I appreciated how Abbey Road catered to every student and how if a student was interested, they had ample opportunities to make their time unforgettable. I saw flamenco shows, the sagrada de familia, spanish movies, works by picaso and Dali and much more. It was incredible to get to know a place so well and see and enjoy so much culture. I was able to establish fond memories with staff and peers alike and would HIGHLY recommend this program to anyone with an interest in travel and culture.

After a month of searching I found Global Works on Go Abroad and this program was the best choice I could have made. I got to travel the country and experience so many different cultures and service opportunities. I feel so incredibly privileged to have had the leaders I did. Carlos and Perri were both very helpful in every possible way. I always felt safe both physically and emotionally. We visited the three biggest cities in the country (Madrid, Barcelona, and Valencia). I got to work along side of a community of only 22 people in a village outside of Palencia called Amayuelas. I got to help their local farm and made adobe bricks out of mud and hay. Additionally, I got to see and explore buildings and other structures, some dating back to over 2,000 years. The aqueduct in Segovia was most impressive to me. My favorite part of the trip was the fact that we didn't have our phones. We got to get to know each other more and played group games we might not have thought to play. Overall an extremely rewarding experience.
