Alexander Muss High School in Israel – Semester Abroad

Alexander Muss High School in Israel (Muss) is a semester-long academic program for Jewish teens, offered in both the Fall and Spring. Over four months, students explore Israel through travel and learning, diving into the country’s history, culture, language, and geography while continuing their General Studies in small class settings. The program combines traditional academics with hands-on experiences, taking students across Israel to see the places they learn about in class. Lessons are led by experienced teachers who help students connect with the country on a deeper level. Students gain more than just knowledge—they build confidence, independence, and a stronger connection to their Jewish identity. Muss is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, so students stay on track academically while living and learning in Israel. It’s a meaningful, challenging, and memorable way to prepare for college—and for life.

So don’t worry, we’ve got incredible options for high school programs in Israel for you!

Jerusalem, Israel’s capital, is the largest city in the country with nearly 800,000 inhabitants. Central to the Christian, Judaic, and Islamic faiths, throughout history Jerusalem has been one of the most important and continuously contested cities on earth. Jerusalem is a pilgrimage site for millions of religiously devout peoples from all over the world, and as such can be an exceedingly fascinating place to travel to for high school programs in Israel. While there, you’ll be able to experience the incredible local markets, called souqs, and learn about the contested history—and present—of this beautiful city that will quickly feel like home. Sounds perfect for teen travel in Israel!

For a more modern experience with Israel high school programs, Tel Aviv offers tremendous appeal of an entirely different sort. The Middle East’s third most influential economic node (after Dubai and Abu Dhabi), Tel Aviv is a thriving center for tech and finance, with a young and fun pulse vibrating through its streets. With the opportunity to experience the exciting nightlife, enriching arts and culture, and cutting edge innovation, Tel Aviv is a great place for high school programs in Israel! You’ll also get to test your haggling skills in Carmel Market which will help you feel like a local.

Haifa is another great option, especially if you are looking for a city that will please the eye. Famous for its Baha'i shrine and tropical gardens, you will be left in awe at the beauty that Haifa holds. Today, the city serves as a model for Jewish-Arab coexistence. This makes for an incredible opportunity for you to expand your perspective and learn about identity—your own, and those around you! Not only will your ideas about the world around you change, but so will the ideas you have about yourself. How special!
