IVHQ Cultural Immersion Volunteer Project in Sri Lanka

The Cultural Immersion project allows volunteers to experience the life and culture of a traditional tribal community in Sri Lanka, while improving the standard of living and wellbeing of the people. The Vaddah community is known as the earliest inhabitants of Sri Lanka. As a volunteer, you’ll stay with a local family, quickly becoming part of the community. You’ll develop a shared understanding as you learn from them and work with them to support the long term goals of the Vaddah community in Dambana. It’s a transformative experience, that provides a unique insight into a way of life that locals normally only have access to. This project provides a place for cross-cultural collaboration between international volunteers and the local community to work together to raise the overall standard of living within the village. As a volunteer, this means you could find yourself developing community buildings such as schools, temples and pre-schools; or putting the focus on increasing access to education by teaching English or promoting lifelong learning opportunities; or taking part in childcare activities.
