Spend a summer in the artistic and cultured city of Florence, Italy, with AIFS Abroad! Explore a range of academic programs that award credit through Fairfield University. The AIFS Abroad Florence Global Education Center is located in the Palazzo Michelozzi, a 16th-century palace between the Arno River and the Pitti Palace. You’ll earn up to 10 credits awarded by Fairfield University. Choose from 2 available sessions of the traditional academic program or the popular Wine Marketing program. You will live in a student apartment in the center of the city. Wine Marketing students stay in a hotel for the first week, and students taking both Sessions 1 and 2 may also choose to stay in a homestay. You will receive meal vouchers to use in a choice of selected local restaurants, cafés, and grocery stores. If you take the Wine Marketing Program, you will also receive breakfast and dinner at the hotel for the first week of the program. An optional 3-day trip to Rome and an optional 3-day visit to Venice are available. A 2-night tour of London, England, is available to students on the AIFS Abroad Flight Package.

SAI welcomes students to experience Sicily, one of the jewels of the Mediterranean! In partnership with The Syracuse Academy, SAI provides specialized summer study abroad programs focused on Mediterranean culture, landscape, and history—in a beautiful seaside setting. The Academy brings together a small community of students interested in a culturally immersive summer academic experience that uses the surrounding region as its classroom. Studies include volcanology on Mount Etna, the history of the Mafia in its birthplace, and archaeology among ancient Greek ruins. SAI oversees and coordinates all aspects of student enrollment, including application processing, course selection and credit, visa advising, housing, student health insurance, transcripts, and cell phone service. In addition, SAI provides comprehensive student services, beginning with pre-departure and leading to our on-site orientation.

This unique Maymester program allows you to beat the summer crowds while soaking up the Mediterranean. You can choose to study Italian language, literature, or culture, or take Marine Biology and make the marina your classroom. Want to stay on for summer on the Italian Coast? (We suspect you will!) We have a program for that, too. In any case, you'll certainly make the most of your May Term and memories to last a lifetime. Located atop a seaside cliff, the Sant’Anna Institute is housed in a prominent building offering breathtaking views of the Marina Grande of Sorrento. Participants are immersed in the Italian language and culture during a semester, academic year, or summer program. Courses include Anthropology, Art History, Cinema, Medieval History, Sociolinguistics, History of Italian Cooking, Business, and Creative Arts. Students live with local host families while making a difference in the local community through service-learning opportunities. They participate in a series of activities and excursions during the semester or summer term. Some of these include cooking classes, grape harvest, hikes in the countryside, museum visits, day trips to Florence, and overnight excursions to the Alps, Tuscan coast, or other destinations of interest.

The Italian Language Experience at Learning Italy – Dante Alighieri Siena offers a flexible, immersive Italian language program open to students of all proficiency levels. Students may enroll for a minimum of 3 weeks and up to a full academic year. Each week includes 20 Italian lessons (50 minutes each) in small, level-based classes. Absolute beginners must start on fixed dates, while students with prior knowledge may begin any week. Participants may be eligible to earn 3 to 9 U.S. semester-based credits through our School of Record. Students may also sit for the PLIDA certification on scheduled exam dates, subject to an additional fee. The program includes the school’s weekly cultural activities, such as film screenings, lectures, guided walks, conversation-based aperitivi and pizza nights with instructors, and reading or writing workshops. Entrance fees, food, or drinks are not included. Course materials and handouts are provided. Accommodation is not included, but students may request assistance arranging homestay or shared apartment options.
