Education Study Abroad Programs in Florence, Italy

Spend a semester or academic year in the classic city of Florence with AIFS Abroad. Earn up to 13 credits each semester, with an international internship for three credits, studying at the AIFS Abroad Global Education Center with credit awarded by Fairfield University. No previous Italian language study is required. Select the Internship Program to begin or advance your Italian language, gain international work experience, and study relevant coursework to your internship placement. You’ll live in a fully furnished shared student apartment and receive ten vouchers per week (five breakfasts or lunches and five dinners, excluding excursions and school breaks, with a total value of $1,700). You’ll enjoy cultural and social activities, including: • Guided city walks • Visits to the many museums, churches, and cultural sites of Florence • Italian cooking classes • Opera and ballet performances • Italian cheese tastings • A gelato tour • Day trips to Pisa, Lucca, the Vespa Factory, and more The program also includes excursions outside Florence: 1 day in Siena, two days in Venice, and three days in Rome.

World Class Programs offers high school students the opportunity to study abroad in Florence, Italy. Our summer program is designed for teens from all academic backgrounds who are excited about immersing themselves in Italian culture and lifestyle. This pre-college program offers various course study options, including Art History, Fine Arts, Philosophy, Photography, Architecture, Italian language, and Tuscan Cuisine. Students can choose a major course for daily focus (Monday to Friday) in the mornings for three hours. Then, they attend elective classes, each lasting two hours, three times a week in the afternoons. On weekends, they go on day trips around Italy to explore cultural differences from city to city. Locations vary yearly; previous participants have visited Cinque Terre, Siena, Pisa, and Venice!

CEA is pleased to announce our new Undergraduate Research programs at our Study Centers in Barcelona, Buenos Aires, Florence, and Seville starting in Fall 2022. No matter where you study, each program leverages the local connections and active learning opportunities of each host city. These are combined with experienced faculty and engaging classroom experiences built around specific academic disciplines. The program comprises a personalized research opportunity, an Independent Study Project course, and 3-4 additional elective courses. Overall, you may earn 12-15 credits. Classes are small to ensure close attention and courses are taught in English. Your group will take full advantage of the host city’s offerings, beyond the doors of the classroom. This is an opportunity for students to achieve a comprehensive and extensive knowledge of their specialty, encompassing several techniques and approaches. The course provides students with overall training, as opposed to focusing specifically on one subject. It is open also to beginners, and there are no specific admission requirements. The main techniques students can learn in the Glass Art program include Stained Glass, Tiffany copper foil technique, Mosaic, Sandblasting, and Glass-Fusing.
