Spend a semester or academic year in the classic city of Florence with AIFS Abroad. Choose from a wide variety of courses at the AIFS Abroad Global Education Center with credit awarded by Fairfield University. Select the Traditional Academic Program to begin or advance your Italian language skills and select courses from a variety of subjects. During the Spring semester, a Fashion Management and Marketing Program is also available. AIFS Abroad in Florence includes a one-week orientation before the semester begins to help you acclimate to life in Italy. Fall semester orientation is on the coast of Tuscany, while spring semester orientation is in Rome. Live in a shared student apartment and receive a meal plan. Instead of spending an entire semester in either Florence or Tuscania, experience both Istituto Lorenzo de' Medici sites with the Two Italies program! Walking to classes in Florence’s historical center, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, LdM students enjoy the jewels of the city and marvel at its beauty. And owing to Tuscania’s smaller size and unique geography, they become immersed in a typical Italian environment where they can interact closely with the local community. By living and studying in both the city and the Italian countryside, students learn to recognize local and regional differences and gain a more complex understanding of contemporary Italy. A set schedule of five courses introduces students to the Italian language and culture, Florence’s ancient roots, wine business and marketing, philosophical and psychological approaches to the subject of happiness, and global development of sustainable food sources.
