Provide Zambian residents with vital medical care while immersing yourself in the unique culture. Volunteers are able to work with medical staff of local clinics that need extra hands in order to gain experience in the medical field. Volunteers are not required to have prior medical knowledge in order to help under-resourced medical clinics in and around Livingstone. During the project, participants will spend their mornings doing one of the following: assisting at a medical clinic, participating in home-based care, attending HIV education and health talks, visiting an elderly home, or spreading awareness of HIV/AIDS education in prisons.

Ideal for educators passionate about gaining international experience, this Teaching and Curriculum Development Internship immerses you in the project of Free Haven Community Initiative. This nonprofit is dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty for Zambian families through various avenues such as nutrition, health services, empowerment programs, and education. As an intern, you may find yourself tasked with instructing classes for children who are academically struggling, working closely with local educators to improve the overarching curriculum, or assisting the nonprofit’s CEO with educational materials. To qualify for this internship, a relevant academic background in education is essential, and previous experience in teaching and/or curriculum development is highly beneficial. This offers a fantastic chance to enhance your resume with hands-on experience, while actively contributing to a significant nonprofit cause. Volunteer and work on a project with local communities this Christmas, and help those a lot less fortunate than you! The project works with disadvantaged children and adults in a number of communities located near Livingstone in Zambia. The mornings are spent supporting kids on a break from school. The project runs a holiday club for up to 100 children. The school also tops up lessons with a class that takes place a few hours each day, giving children extra tuition they badly need. Afternoons are spent focusing on other activities in the community. The project also support adults through farming initiatives, a literacy club, and work in an old people's home. You do not need to have any specific skills to participate in this project. Just bring along your enthusiasm and willingness to get involved. Anyone with experience in child care, education or working with the elderly will be more than welcome. If you have a specific skill that you are able to share, please let us know.
