Volunteer Programs in Rural Areas, Philippines

I enjoyed some of the activites , but not others. The rivre walk and the walk to the koppies was 10/10. No intrenet was challenging , so 7/10. Jane , Precious , Patrick and Lucas were 10/10. I woul recommend this project to anyone who needs a detox from Social media.

I recently had the opportunity to participate in the International Volunteer HQ (IVHQ) volunteer program, spending a week in one of their placements. Overall, it was an eye-opening experience, and I’m glad I took part in it. While there were a few aspects that left me with some questions, the positive aspects of the experience, especially the local team, stood out to me and made the trip memorable. First, let me start with the things that really impressed me. The local team was absolutely fantastic. They were welcoming, supportive, and deeply passionate about the work they were doing. It was clear that they were committed to making a difference in the community, and their enthusiasm was contagious. Whether we were working at the school or engaging with the local people, the staff were always there to guide and ensure that we were having the most meaningful experience possible. I truly felt that I was contributing to something bigger than myself, and I could see how much the locals appreciated the help. Additionally, I learned a great deal during my time with IVHQ. From the daily interactions with the local staff to the skills I developed working at the school, it was a valuable educational experience. I was able to learn about the local culture, the challenges the community faces, and the different ways that volunteers can make a meaningful impact. The program also gave me a unique perspective on development work and the role that foreign volunteers can play in assisting, rather than overshadowing, local initiatives. However, as much as I enjoyed the experience, there were a few concerns that stayed with me after I left. The most prominent was the cost. While I understand that volunteer programs often require funding to operate, I couldn’t help but wonder if the money I was paying was going directly towards the school or the local community I was working with. It seemed like a considerable amount of money for just one week, and I wasn’t entirely clear on how the funds were being allocated. I would have liked more transparency about how my contribution was being used, especially since the program was marketed as a way to support local projects. In fairness, IVHQ does provide a lot of logistics, such as accommodation, meals, and support throughout the program, which made it easier for me as a volunteer to focus on the work itself. The local staff were also top-notch, making sure everything ran smoothly and making us feel welcome from day one. But, given the cost, I would have appreciated more direct reassurance that the funds were going to support the community we were there to help. Despite the financial concerns, I would still say that my time with IVHQ was a rewarding experience. The opportunity to volunteer in a different country, meet new people, and contribute to a meaningful cause was incredibly valuable. The program allowed me to gain a new perspective on both volunteerism and international development, and it definitely inspired me to think more critically about the ways we support and empower local communities. In conclusion, while IVHQ’s volunteer program offers an excellent learning experience, it's worth considering the costs and the transparency regarding where your money goes. The local team was amazing, and the experience itself was enriching, but a little more clarity around financial aspects would help make this program even better.

IVHQ was fantastic at organising the trip and making the preparation process smooth and well-managed. Their guidance from start to finish gave me real confidence when travelling abroad. The Local Team were absolutely brilliant - they ensured everyone was treated with care, respect, and a strong focus on safety. Even though it was a short experience, it left me feeling inspired and eager to participate in more of the IVHQ programs. This program was life-changing and offered so much more than I expected. I genuinely believe that the effort you put in directly shapes what you get out of it. Everything about the experience was exceptional - especially for a young female solo traveler. The program not only opened my eyes to new cultures but also gave me a deeper appreciation for everything I have. Even if your time is short, you do make a difference. The team welcomed us with open arms and always made safety a top priority. I couldn’t recommend IVHQ more highly.

As a Social worker i often meet with clients to assess their needs, provide counseling, and develop individualized plans to address their challenges. This could involve sessions with individuals, families, or groups.

Finishing my volunteering in the Philippines makes me think about all the people who don’t have as much as we do, yet they are still so grateful and happy with just the little things. They are always so happy and very friendly. It doesn’t matter who you are; they will always welcome you with open arms. I learned a lot from the people there and always try to help others. It fills your heart with love, and whenever I leave the volunteer work, my heart feels weak because you want to stay and help them, but eventually, you have to go back home. All the people you meet while volunteering are incredible and amazing. It’s such a great experience, and I recommend it to everyone. This is my second time volunteering with IVHQ, and both times were amazing experiences that I would gladly repeat. I just want to say that everyone who comes to volunteer should have an open mind, eager to meet new people and learn about the culture, language, and more.

IVHQ were super helpful and responsive when I had questions regarding the program before I departed. The local team in the Philippines were all INCREDIBLE. Super friendly and helpful. Very welcoming and made me feel at home and did an amazing job keeping our rooms all clean. I learnt so much about the culture in the Philippines and opened my eyes to so much. I learnt so much about myself and life while doing this project. Truly life changing. Made me feel like I was making a difference on the kids lives The local team were so helpful and catered for my dietary needs with incredible food. The cook made amazing food, both western and cultural Overall, I think this program is so worth the money. It was the most amazing experience. I learnt and experienced so much in the 8 weeks I was in Palawan. Everyone was super helpful and helped us with everything I needed. I loved the kindergarten program with the kids, and spending time with them as well as the co-ordinators. I made some unforgettable memories. The endless efforts the staff went to to keep us comfortable. I would 100% recommend this program to anyone that is wanting to make a positive difference and learn so much about the world!

The local team were very welcoming and exceeded my expectation of attending to volunteers needs! Seeing the kids faces light up when you walk into the room and while you taught was so touching to my heart because it helped me see the difference volunteers made for them. The kids were so excited to learn from foreigners and loved school. The meals were some of the best I’ve ever ate in my life, they also made great accommodations for those with allergies or vegetarians. My favorite moment from volunteering was building relationships with people in a new country and teaching the kids who were so interested in school. In addition to seeing a new way of life and introducing myself to a new world. Being in a new country helped me see the difference in value of life compared to my home country. It helped me realize how much people take for granted and how much more people should value life. If your interested in volunteering, g for it, do your research about programs and the country before you do them but don’t hesitate any longer because the experiences you receive while on your trip are incredibly life changing.

Getting to know the children and growing closer to the other volunteers and staff members was my favorite moments. The biggest impact my volunteering trip had on me was it made me acknowledge that money, while being very helpful, does not buy happiness of intelligence. The children in this school lacked a lot of school supplies and resources, and yet they are so so smart and kind and generous, genuinely happy to go to school. It’s an experience you’ll never forget, and I found there is no better way to immerse yourself in a different culture. It’s also an ethical way to travel the world, by actually getting to know how the locals actually live instead of just enjoying the touristic aspects and ignoring the rest.

The highlight of the volunteer experience was bringing my sister along. She heard me raving about how amazing my first IVHQ trip was when I went solo. So to be able to share it with her was amazing. We taught together and got really attached to our grade 2 class. The kids are so smart and very kind, my sister and I genuinely felt as if we were helping them grow in the classroom just as we were on the trip. It’s a humbling experience that I recommend everyone tries. Being on the ground alongside local families, learning how to live their day to day lifestyle broadens my way of thinking and fills me with so much joy!! My advice is just go for it! You’ll meet incredible like-minded volunteers who you will become great friends with. You will be completely immersed in a different lifestyle that will allow you to learn new cultures and see different corners of the world while helping families and the environment along the way - such a beautiful feeling!

I probably had one of the best experiences of my life in Natuwa for a month, feeding the many animals that live there, taking care of them, discovering a different way of life than mine, more minimalist and peaceful. Rodolfo is an extremely understanding man who cares about the well-being of his voluntarios. We had the chance to do several extra activities outside the centre, such as snorkeling near to Isla Tortuga, or swimming at night with bioluminescent planktons, which were dazzling. The workteam is really friendly and allows you to feel integrated quickly and easily. However, you have to expect to work hard sometimes, for example planting trees, doing work to maintain the infrastructure, but this is only a part of the day. outside the centre

My time in the Philippines volunteering for IVHQ was a once in a life time experience and I just wish it could have lasted longer. I was teaching as part of my volunteer work and it was amazing just to see all these kids smiling all the time and always wanting to learn is something I'll always remember for the rest of my life.

The time I spent in Dubai, Oman and Abdul Dhabi, I have a wonderful and experiential Joy with the people and I was able to showcased my skills and the people explore my knowledge to their satisfaction Little details of my experience Dubai Falcon Ballroom Hotel which was so great. Even more perfect was the fact that they had thought of everything in advance, I didn’t need to remind them I needed a fresh bed shread in the room (which I did have to do twice at the local hotel I stayed in my country, more on this later) as they had already taken care of that prior to our arrival. The bed, oh the bed! It was dreamy in every way, the most comfortable place I’ve ever laid in, and the most restful sleep I had had in years, and sometimes teary nighttime awakenings. some things can’t be helped…oh, the joys of travelling with flight Emirate is spectacular. A night between those bed-sheets really restores and rebalances you. I had excellent views directly facing the Mall of the Emirate and part of the pool below (if you stretched your neck). Everything in the room was spotlessly clean and looked brand new. The desk was comfortable for planning my daily routes on our my map.

August 8th, 2018, I went to Thailand for the highest skydiving constitution in Asian. At the time, when I put on heavy equipment, I was super nervous, so I paid hundreds percent concentration on training. All set down, I followed the coach to get on the helicopter and had a big swallow before taking off. On the way to five thousand inches high, my hand still stuck the edge of seat tightly. It's the real time when I hardly moved right to the open door, my foot suspended in the midair and smash wind make me hard to breathe. Without struggle, I was pushed to jump with closing eyes and opening mouth. Actually, I screamed loudly but heard nothing. The parachute opened in seconds successfully and everything went as well as training. When I stood steadily on the cloud, I touched the soft clouds, astonished by the beautiful view of Phuket Island---golden-green fields are surrounded by the sea blue, trail of the train intersect through the landscape, cars running on the roads are as tiny as ants moving foods. Swinging back to the ground, I was so proud of myself and at the same time, I was so excited about the astonishing views in the sky.

In my 30 years of experience as a professional nurse I have worked in comprehensive patient care and I know everything related to the area of ​​health. Now I am retired and my great desire is to help people in need.

Volunteer World gave me the opportunity to find a project that suited me. They have plenty of projects and there is something for everyone! You meet amazing people. You get to know the country and the culture through te locals. You connect immedeatly with the other volunteers and experience this amazing trip together. I'm already looking for my next experience with them.
