Nestled along the stunning coastline of Diani, our project focuses on safeguarding the threatened colobus monkey population and their fragile forest habitat. Volunteers immerse themselves in the lush surroundings of Diani’s forests, working alongside dedicated conservationists to monitor colobus populations, conduct habitat assessments, and implement community-based initiatives. Through this project, you don't just contribute to the protection of these enchanting creatures but also engage with local communities to raise awareness and promote coexistence. Volunteer in this project and discover over 100 bird species, green turtles, and unique coral gardens in Mombasa. Get the chance to explore an ecosystem of marine and tidal habitats along Kenya’s north coast with rich and diverse bird life, fish, turtles, and dugongs. The placement is in an animal orphanage, which shelters and quarantines rescued animals found sick, injured, orphaned, or stranded in the wild. Your tasks include: - Feeding giraffes in the park and crocodiles in pens, with over 90 inhabitants, including juveniles - Monitoring the biodiversity, health, and growth of the reef system around Mombasa through fish, invertebrate, and coral surveys - Monitoring and collecting data on Mombasa turtles to help assess the success of conservation efforts
