There is a lot of behind-the-scenes work involved in accomplishing the goals our local partner organizations have for the children of Ecuador. The purpose of the Administration Support project is to provide assistance with the operational workload these organizations have, in effort to enable them to widen their reach and help more children. Volunteers can utilize existing skills and experience or learn new skills by helping with the day-to-day operations of these organizations, as well as gain a greater understanding of NGOs and the issues they face. Volunteers may assist with translation, record keeping, fundraising and grant writing, publicity, campaign scholarships, systems review and communication. Duties are assigned based on the priority tasks at the time of volunteering in correlation with volunteers’ skills, interests and experience. It is important to note that volunteers on this project are typically ask to spend a portion of their time working on another project (such as the Street Children Work) to supplement their time doing administrative support.

Teaching in the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador as a Projects Abroad volunteer will give you a new perspective on this incredible country. Whether you are volunteering during your gap year, a career break, or as a worthwhile vacation, you will have an important role to play in teaching in one of our partner schools. By volunteering in Ecuador, you will gain invaluable teaching and classroom-based work experience. The focus is on conversational English, so you do not need formal qualifications or TEFL training. Our Teaching projects in Ecuador are based in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno on the island of San Cristobal in the Galapagos Islands. There is an increasing demand to learn English among Ecuador's young population, and speaking English is the key to getting a job in the island's thriving tourist industry.

Through World Internships, get the chance to work with local non-government organizations in the Ecuadorian capital – Quito. This internship finds you supporting initiatives that provide education to children and adults or promote health-related education on proper hygiene and sanitation, among others. Projects also include working on national poverty awareness campaigns, environmental conservation, and fundraising. Your internship with the NGO varies, depending on your passions and skill sets. You will be tending to some of the projects at the center, including English language education, career coaching, administrative logistics, and creative curriculum planning. Gain a variety of skills, such as curriculum design, NGO administration, and language education. Quito—the second highest official capital city in the world in terms of elevation—has a lot to offer international interns, from scenery and people to language and culture. While in the city, you will have the opportunity to improve your Spanish language skills, explore ruins of the Inca Empire, and visit the many parishes that tell the history of Ecuador under Spanish rule. This program is also open to volunteers.
