This program is specifically interested in allowing volunteers to assist teachers working with preschoolers or teaching English to elementary and high school students. Volunteers are involved in playing education games and facilitating learning activities, as well as planning English lessons to ensure kids get the best possible education. Volunteers are expected to have a basic level of Spanish, allowing them to improve their speaking skills throughout the program as well as to effectively communicate with the children and teachers around them. Cultural exchange continues for volunteers who choose to stay with a host family, as they learn to live like a local. They also have the daily choice of restaurant for lunch, allowing them to sample the cuisine of the island.

Are you a passionate and creative individual looking to leave a lasting and transformative mark in the lives of the incredible locals residing on the enchanting Isabela Island? If so, consider yourself exceptionally fortunate, for there exists a golden opportunity just waiting for someone like you to seize! This extraordinary organization operates in close collaboration with local authorities in the Galapagos National Park, educational institutions, and a network of international nonprofits. Its main mission is to ensure that every endeavor aligns seamlessly with the unique needs and aspirations of both the remarkable habitats and the local community. As an intern, you'll actively contribute to the enhancement and empowerment of the lives of the people in Isabela Island. Based on your interests and skills you can either apply for the internship focused on social media or education. In the first six weeks the organization will be able to see where your strengths and skills are to decide which focus you'll be for the rest of your internship experience. However, if you apply with a clear interest in English Edu. or social media management, then they'll try to work towards this.

Galápagos is one of the foremost ecotourism destinations on the planet. Despite being one of the best-preserved places in the world—with 95% of its pre-human, original biodiversity still intact, pressures from tourism are increasing. We help Galapagueños to continue on their path to sustainable development, wherein both qualities of life are ensured and the unique environment is preserved today and for future generations. We work directly with a local NGO to provide volunteer opportunities around conservation and education efforts designed to protect the area’s still thriving but threatened natural habitats. Program participants are stationed in a community on the south coast of Isabela Island, seven hundred miles off the coast of Ecuador. One of the four inhabited islands of the famous Galápagos, Isabela is the largest and is home to only 4000 people. It boasts breathtaking natural beauty, with beaches stretching for miles along rocky, rugged coastlines and teeming with exotic wildlife. In the last fifteen years, the island's economy has converted from one driven exclusively by its fisheries into one sustained mostly by a nascent ecotourism industry.
