Based in New Taipei City and Taipei, Taiwan, this summer program enables motivated students of Mandarin Chinese to complete a year’s worth of academic study in only eight weeks (summer) and 15 weeks (semester). The Taiwan Intensive Summer and Semester Language Programs (TISLP) combine 18-20 hours of weekly small-group and one-on-one language instruction with regular cultural workshops, excursions, interactions with language partners, a weekend homestay, and housing with local student roommates. To optimize their immersion experience, students are expected to speak Mandarin at all times and spend an average of four hours on coursework each night. Participants participate in several day trips, overnight excursions, and cultural activities outside the classroom to deepen their understanding of Taiwanese society, culture, business, and history. In the past, cultural activities have included introductions to topics such as calligraphy, cooking, Chinese opera, seal-making, and trips to Taiwan's capital—Taipei, Kenting National Park, and the Foguangshan Buddha Memorial Center.

Learn Taiwanese at a school in downtown Taipei. The school is near two prominent universities – the National Taiwan University and the National Taiwan Normal University. Surrounding the school is an abundance of restaurants, cafés, bookstores, and shops. Students attend three Taiwanese language lessons every day, with each lesson lasting about 50 minutes. Each class accepts a maximum of 15 students. Private lessons are also available. While in Taipei, students will live in a private room at a hotel that is five to 30 minutes from the school.
