A human experience
January 15, 2025by: Saoirse K.Program: CIEE January in Legon, Ghana
I would be very likely to recommend CIEE Study Abroad to anybody due to how much it added to my school and human experience and how exciting it was! I think I was able to build and expand a lot of life and adult skills with the independent nature of the trip as well as the support given to me by the staff and students of the program. I would recommend this to anyone as long as they could afford it, since the high expense of the program and flights is not always fully or even partially covered by school, and it would be very expensive and often not possible for the majority of the people I know.
Everything is really accommodating
July 09, 2022by: Ashley R.Program: CIEE Arts + Sciences in Legon, Ghana
I would be likely to recommend CIEE Study Abroad to a friend or peer because on the back end (before starting the program) everything is really accommodating, all you have to do is ask. On the front end (while in the program) the experience is amazing and even with the little hiccups everything is still worth it.
I would recommend this to everyone

Really got to experience the host culture
January 05, 2022by: Deven D.Program: CIEE Arts + Sciences in Legon, Ghana
CIEE provided a great and enlightening program that allowed students to really experience the host culture while fostering community. Since being on this program my life goals have been infused with aspects I have received from my program.
My time here has been amazing
August 20, 2019by: Jan B.Program: CIEE Arts + Sciences in Legon, Ghana
My time here has been amazing and I have enjoyed all the freedom I could want in shaping this experience. Additionally, CIEE took very good care of us and offered many extra services like hosting us in the office, talks with interesting people in Ghana, Townhalls and additional classes. Moreover, the option to either live in a Homestay or ISH is a very valuable feature of CIEE I think.

CIEE made the entire study abroad experience so much richer
August 19, 2019by: Madison G.Program: CIEE Arts + Sciences in Legon, Ghana
CIEE made the entire study abroad experience so much richer. Whenever I had a problem, I could come to the ladies at the office and they would be quick to help me. CIEE organized trips and activities to help enrich our experience in Ghana, and without those, my experience would not be complete.
There was a lot of support
August 18, 2019by: Gabrielle S.Program: CIEE Arts + Sciences in Legon, Ghana
From the U-pals, to whatever Brown's job description is (program assistant?), to the Aunties (administrators?), to the Director, there are a lot of avenues to get information, help with problem-solving and advice. I felt very taken care of with CIEE Legon.
CIEE is a lot helpful
August 17, 2019by: Mariah D.Program: CIEE Arts + Sciences in Legon, Ghana
With the scholarships that CIEE provides, CIEE makes studying abroad more accessible for low income students. CIEE also streamlines the studying abroad process by providing students with helpful step-by-step instructions of required actions and with support from responsive staff.

Studied Linguistics and Arabic language here....
March 26, 2009by: AGA - GhanaStudied Linguistics and Arabic language here. The program was excellent in general, and especially since it was my first time traveling except as a tourist. I felt safe and welcomed both by the program and by Ghanians in general. Some people complained that NYU took care of us "too well" but it is certainly possible to immerse yourself in the culture if you take the initiative by: advice: take courses at Ghanian University as well as at NYU. Do an internship or community service.
