Experience life in a developing nation while exploring one of Africa's most intellectually and culturally vibrant cities. Gain direct experience with West Africa’s public health system at New York University in Accra. Students may conduct fieldwork and volunteer at a local hospital or healthcare institution. Local professors and visiting faculty from New York City ensure a rich learning experience. Take multidisciplinary courses like Environmental Health in a Global World and Health and Society in a Global Context.

NYU Accra’s academic center is located in suburban Labone, one of the most beautiful residential areas in Accra. Studied Linguistics and Arabic language here....

Studied Linguistics and Arabic language here. The program was excellent in general, and especially since it was my first time traveling except as a tourist. I felt safe and welcomed both by the program and by Ghanians in general. Some people complained that NYU took care of us "too well" but it is certainly possible to immerse yourself in the culture if you take the initiative by: advice: take courses at Ghanian University as well as at NYU. Do an internship or community service.
