Incredible experience
April 26, 2020by: Ally Kimpling - United StatesGoing to Harlaxton fall 2018 changed my life! I got to travel to so many incredible places both with the school and without on the weekends, and then basically got to live in a castle during the week. The community and culture at Harlaxton are so uplifting and encouraging! Even though the house competitions could get a bit heated, everyone was there to support each other. Not to mention the town where its located, Grantham, is the loveliest town. I cannot recommend their tea shops and gingerbread enough! I wouldn't trade this experience for anything in the world, and I honestly can't wait for a day I can maybe go back to visit (yeah, alums can come back to visit!!)
Will never forget this experience
April 18, 2020by: Lauren Patch - United StatesProbably the most convenient and unique way to study abroad. It's just like going to school but in a castle in the English countryside. There are many resources available to you, both in the manor and in town. The staff genuinely cares about your safety and comfort and understands how important travel and cultural immersion is. You build incredible relationships within your class and meet people all over the world.

I love Harlaxton!!
April 13, 2020by: Kirby Swails - United StatesHarlaxton really does become your home away from home after you study there. Everyone is super helpful and you really have an amazing opportunity to learn and grow while at Harlaxton. I cannot recommend it highly enough!
Life changing
January 19, 2018by: The Reluctant Pilgrim - United StatesDecades ago, I was a small town Hoosier gal with a burning desire to experience the world beyond the confines of Midwest 'vanilla'. My dreams pushed me beyond my fears. I boarded the international flight alone, and didn't know a single other student who would be attending. For me, seeing that incredible Manor for the first time felt like Dorothy opening the sepia colored door of her Kansas farm house, and getting her first look at technicolor Munchkinland! History comes alive, you experience different cultures and make lifelong friendships. You leave with a connection to being a citizen of the world. Beg, borrow, work extra jobs, do what you have to do to experience Harlaxton. Your memories will last a lifetime!
Experience of a lifetime!
January 19, 2018by: MissyW - United StatesI highly recommend this program. It was one of the best experiences of my life, and many of the things I learned both inside and outside the classroom have contributed to my successes later in life. Some of my favorite highlights were living in a castle, meeting lifelong friends, having a meet-a-family in the community, traveling to many different countries on both school-organized and self-organized trips, and crazy fun times at the on campus pub.
Life changing
January 19, 2018by: Josh O - United StatesMy semester at Harlaxton gave me some of the most valuable opportunities of my life. It forced me out of my comfort zone, while at the same time providing plenty of support. It fostered an independence that I had previously struggled with, and taught me how to get along in a literally foreign environment. The travel opportunities—nearly every weekend—were both fun and educational. The amount of culture and history that I was exposed to, traveling about the UK, Ireland, France, and Italy, was like nothing I could ever have done on my own.
The most magical & life-changing semester
January 15, 2018by: Miranda - United StatesHarlaxton was a dream. I lived in a castle for four months, and spent my weekends (every weekend is at least a 3-day weekend) traveling to new countries. The program is perfect because you are living, going to class, eating, socializing, etc, all in one building/beautiful castle. The program also provides so many cultural opportunities, from day trips to local towns to the meet-a-family experience that partners students with couples in town. At the manor, there are intermurals, house competitions (think Harry Potter), a pub in the basement, and more. Classes are great, not too hard but definitely very interesting to learn about subjects like history from a U.K. perspective. As for travel, students can either go with the school on pre-arranged trips or travel independently. The entire program is an amazing opportunity. I grew so much and was able to leave my comfort zone to discover new cultures, meet new people, and try new things. It was a once in a lifetime experience, every day I am still wishing I could go back!
Everything I could have imagined
January 15, 2018by: Abby - United StatesThere are not enough words to describe the experiences I’ve had at Harlaxton. The faculty and staff worked tirelessly to allow me to finish my third physical therapy clinical at a hospital in Peterborough which was a short train ride from Grantham. When I wasn’t working I was traveling both in England with the British faculty as well as abroad with new friends. The University of Evansville is determined to help everyone have this experience abroad and there really is no better place to do so.
Once in a lifetime experience
January 10, 2018by: Morgan Woodward - United StatesHarlaxton provided me with a change to gain life long friendships, experience a level of personal growth I had previously thought impossible, and become a more globally aware individual. I was able to travel throughout Europe through both individual and school-sponsored trips. The staff was very helpful in providing travel tips, giving advice on balancing school and travel, and educating students on British culture. The school provides many opportunities to experience local culture and the Meet-a-Family Program allows students to create a bond with a local family. The four months I spent at Harlaxton provided me with memories and experiences that will last a lifetime.
The summer that changed everything
January 10, 2018by: Macy Dimmett - United StatesI studied abroad at Harlaxton College in Summer 2017 and the experience was one that previously only existed in my dreams. Living in a castle for 5 weeks, checking sites off my travel bucket list, and experiencing great personal growth were things I could not have found in any other experience. The manor is beautiful and the chance to live and learn there should not be passed up. The staff are very helpful in navigating both local cultural experiences and travel to other countries. I wish that I had just one more week to walk through Harlaxton manor in the English countryside.
