Your Summer in São Paulo program lasts 4 weeks (or up to 8 weeks) and is designed for students from all academic backgrounds. You will choose from CIEE courses taught in-person at CIEE São Paulo. Seamester is the educational adventure of a lifetime! For more than 40 years, we have offered unparalleled educational voyages where students spend a semester at sea sailing between islands, countries, and even continents. We design our programs to provide engaging learning experiences with real outcomes in ways that are impossible to replicate in the traditional classroom. Living as part of a close-knit team on an ocean-going vessel, our students learn fundamental lessons beyond academics: teamwork, leadership, and personal responsibility. They receive academic credit from the University of South Florida, along with PADI scuba certifications and IYT sailing certifications. Our programs are designed to inspire students to realize that it’s the journey, not the destination, that matters the most.

Immerse yourself in a new language, intern abroad, or explore a different part of the world. CET’s gap programs offer the opportunity to join college-level courses overseas or online. Whether you're mastering Chinese in Beijing, volunteering while living with a host family in Siena, or creating art in a studio in Osaka, CET blends academics with real-world experience. Designed around experiential learning, deep cultural engagement, and academic rigor, CET programs turn education into something more than just earning college credit.

This course focuses on multi-faceted species conservation. We are particularly interested in the next generation of learning programs and public engagement campaigns through zoos and schools in Brazil, the U.S., and other countries. There may also be the opportunity to support the development of a golden lion tamarin park and educational facility in the heart of their range. We will examine the strengths and weaknesses of the “flagship species” approach, well represented by the golden lion tamarins, and explore the next steps. We are delighted to work with our primary course partner, Associação Mico-Leão Dourado (AMLD), a Brazilian non-profit organization that has played a central role in golden lion tamarin conservation. Associação Mico-Leão Dourado is supported in the U.S. by the non-profit organization Save the Golden Lion Tamarin. Before and following the field experience in Brazil, students will complete coursework via Dragonfly Workshops' Web-Based Learning Community as they apply experiences to their home institutions.

Brazil’s capital of the southern state of Santa Catarina, Florianópolis, is on an island featuring breathtaking scenery and vibrant cultural and university life. Students enroll at the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, where students can experience firsthand the life of Brazilian students. They live in a homestay, allowing access to the life of a local family. Through coursework, various extracurricular activities with peers, internships, or volunteer work, they are expected to "live the language" in Florianópolis. The Middlebury - C.V. Starr Schools Abroad are characterized by a commitment to language development. Students sign and honor the Language Pledge, promising to speak only the target language during their time abroad. Those already at an advanced level of Portuguese come away from the program with superior language skills and the fact that they have gained an authentic study abroad experience.
