Maddie graduated with a degree in International Studies and Hispanic Languages and Literature from the University of Pittsburgh along with minors in Portuguese and Film Studies. As an undergraduate, she spent a summer completing research in Rosario, Argentina and later spent a semester abroad through ISA's program in Lima, Peru at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. After studying, researching and volunteering abroad, Maddie decided to serve in-need communities in the U.S. by committing to a year of service with AmeriCorps.
