Middlebury School in Argentina: Buenos Aires

The Middlebury - C.V. Schools Abroad are characterized by a commitment to language development. Students sign and honor the Language Pledge, promising to speak only the target language during their time abroad. Those already at an advanced level of Spanish come away from the program with superior language skills and the fact that they have gained an authentic study abroad experience. While in Buenos Aires, students enroll directly into one of Argentina's three most respected universities: the Universidad Argentina de la Empresa, the Universidad de Buenos Aires, and the Universidad Torcuato di Tella. They also live in a homestay, which allows them access to the life of a local family. Students are expected to "live the language" through their coursework, extracurricular activities with local peers, internships, or volunteer work in the capital of South America's largest Spanish-speaking country. In addition to different study tracks for intermediate and advanced speakers, we have two special academic tracks—Public Health and Tango and Identity.

Argentina: A Place Where Life-long Friendships Are Made

December 09, 2023by: Katelyn Flanagan - United StatesProgram: Middlebury School in Argentina: Buenos Aires

I felt very welcomed and at-home even before I arrived. After meeting the staff from Middlebury abroad in Argentina, I had all my questions answered, was provided with very useful information, and most importantly, was able to see many familiar faces upon arrival. My placement with a host family worked out splendidly; I still keep in contact with my Argentinian family and friends. I have met so many people that are special to me and have had multiple opportunities to connect with others in school, volunteer work, family activities, and personal hobbies. Argentina has a very rich and diverse culture: I learned something new every day, and thoroughly enjoyed my experience overall.
