About World Unite!

World Unite! is an organization established in 2007 that offers intercultural exchange and global learning opportunities, including Working Holiday support programs, internships abroad, volunteer opportunities, language programs, and cultural courses. World Unite! is not a booking agency — we are directly active in most of our program locations with our own dedicated support teams and infrastructure. We currently run extensive programs in Japan, South Korea, Germany, Ireland, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Morocco, South Africa, Israel, India, China, Nicaragua, Bolivia, Portugal, Malta, and the USA. In today’s globalized world, intercultural understanding is a key skill — and one that can be gained not just in theory, but through meaningful and enjoyable real-world experiences. My internship at Old Mill Farm

From small puppies to big horses, there was just about everything. There were puppies, kittens, dogs, cats, pigs, donkeys, goats and horses. My job was to take care of the animals. I was allowed to muck out places, feed animals, take pictures of dogs, pet animals and be there for the animals. Each has its story and each wants only one thing: love. Those were wonderful 3 months and I was allowed to take care of one dog at a time and went for a walk with him early in the morning and went around again in the evening. The best moment for everyone was when the animals found a new home.

When we booked our volunteering program through World Unite we had the feeling we would contribute something positive to the local community. As it turns out, the opposite is true. We followed language lessons, and found out our teacher only receives one fifth of the money we payed to world unite. We wrote to World Unite, saying that its not fair that the teacher can't even afford electricity on this wage, but World Unite simply said that they are not a charity. A lot of the other people are also really not satisfied, we heard lots of stories about wasting half of the time waiting for a visa, unsafe working conditions etc. My recommendation would be to try to contact local organisations like a school or a hospital, and arrange the internship directly through them. I guarantee you will be very welcome. If that is too scary, at least do it through a NGO (non-profit organisation). Otherwise, all the money is still going to Europe and the local people will remain in the same suppressed situation as they are now.

Which nationalities can join World Unite!'s programs?

Everyone is welcome to participate in our programs. However, please note that certain visa restrictions may apply to specific nationalities, especially for our Working Holiday programs in Japan, South Korea, Germany, and Ireland. We kindly ask you to contact us about these programs only if your nationality is eligible for a suitable visa.

What is the minimum and maximum age to join World Unite!'s programs?

For Working Holiday programs, the minimum age is 18. Some internships and volunteer placements are possible from 16. Remote programs are possible from 14. If you are not yet 18, we need the signature of your legal guardian indicating their approval of your stay abroad and taking responsibility for your actions there.

There is no maximum age, except for Working Holiday visas, which have a maximum age limit (30/35).

What nationalities can I expect among participants in your programs?

While there are some differences between the individual programs, overall approximately 40% of participants are native English speakers (from the US, UK, Australia, and New Zealand), 30% are German-speaking (from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland), 25% are from other European countries, and 5% from other parts of the world.

What services do you offer in Japan?

In Japan, we are the leading provider of Working Holiday support services, offering walk-in support offices in Tokyo and Kyoto, orientation programs, job placement services, and social and cultural events and activities. We also operate our own sharehouse accommodations for program participants in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Okinawa.

Additionally, we arrange a wide range of internships, volunteer placements, and language lessons in Japan.
