August 14, 2025by: Lena Kissen - GermanyProgram: Empower Women & Educate Youth in Arusha, TanzaniaVolunteering with WEHAF was an incredibly rewarding experience. I joined in on home visits to vulnerable women, supported with various office tasks, and took part in outreach work with the Maasai community. Thedy and the rest of the WEHAF team were warm, welcoming, and made me feel comfortable from day one. I truly felt part of a meaningful cause and learned so much along the way.
Volunteering as a Nutrition Student at WEHAF
August 14, 2025by: Hannah Benson - United StatesProgram: Empower Women & Educate Youth in Arusha, TanzaniaDuring my time volunteering at WEHAF, I had the opportunity to engage directly with the community as a nutrition student. I participated in home visits, observing the living conditions of the women and providing personalized dietary advice. Additionally, I organized and led classes for the mothers, educating them on maintaining a healthy and balanced diet. I really enjoyed working with the WEHAF team, who were welcoming, supportive, and made me feel comfortable throughout my stay. The experience also allowed me to balance my volunteering with personal free time, giving me the chance to explore the area and enjoy other activities. Overall, it was a rewarding experience that enriched both my professional knowledge and personal growth.
Where Resilience Meets Purpose: My Work with WEHAF and BD4A
August 05, 2025by: Beatrice Gamba - ItalyProgram: Empower Women & Educate Youth in Arusha, TanzaniaVolunteering with WEHAF has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. The connection with the women, the impact of the work, and the sense of shared purpose go far beyond a typical program. This is real, grounded, community-based change—and I’m honored to be part of it. Every day brought new challenges, deep learning, and powerful human connection.

What inspired you to travel abroad?
I was inspired by the strength and dignity of the women at WEHAF. Despite loss and stigma, they show courage and creativity daily. I wanted to be part of a community-driven change where my skills connect with a greater purpose.

What inspired you to travel abroad?
My main motivation was to use my Business Degree to help people, especially women in vulnerable positions who do not get enough support. I value equal opportunities for everyone, and it is important to me to encourage women who do not get support from anyone else. I was very impressed by the work WEHAF has already done, and I thought I could support the organization, especially the Sustainable Business Programme, with my knowledge.
