So much love

Volunteering with Teaching You has been one of the best experiences of my life. Teaching You is truly all about the students, and the students take so much from this program and learn a lot. It’s all about giving and just wanting for each student to succeed.
Teaching You - El Salvador

Volunteering with Teaching You in El Salvador was definitely one of the best things I`ve ever done in my life! Choosing to go to El Salvador among all other countries may not seem like the first alternative for most people, mainly because of all the crime and violence people tell you about. However, my experience was all different than that. What I experienced was not fear, it was the exact opposite. The people I got to know showed me more love and happiness than people in my home country could ever have done. Everyday that I came to school, my students came running towards me to hug me. The teachers were all so thankful for me being there, so despite the language barriers they always tried to talk and interact. And Joaquin, my coordinator and founder of the program was always there to help and comfort me. Except for all the time we spent in school, he introduced me to a looooot of new places and people. Because of him and all the people I met through his program, I now feel like I have a second family on the other side of the world, in El Salvador. <3

I was never 100% sure that making the decision to spend my last three weeks of my travel abroad volunteering in El Salvador was the right one, but my host and organiser Joaquin Batres sure changed my apprehension about going. From the very beginning, the correspondence over emails was always so quick, any queries I had where quickly answered and in those three weeks at the volunteer house, My life was enriched by everyday living in Santa tecla, I was quick to adjust to the neighbourhoods, And ease into volunteer teaching. The beautiful school children are so responsive to new volunteers like me coming in. So many hugs! And I guess curiosity about our stories and where we come from. I learnt just as much from the girls as they (hopefully) did from me. Joaquin was so accommodating to My needs, he sure changed my opinion of El Salvador and showed me the true beauty of the country. I would recommend this program to anyone.it was the best thing i have done and learnt skills that can only really be obtained from life experience !

Honestly the best experience I have ever had with a volunteer program, and all thanks to Joaquin. He has created such an incredible program at Margarita Duran School as well as being the best tour guide ever when I wasn’t at school. I immediately felt at home in El Salvador both with Joaquin and at the school. He truly goes above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and help you with any thing, and I mean absolutely anything you need wether it be finding food or organising doctors appointments. Truly an experience I will never ever forget, when I wasn’t at school Joaquin made sure there was always something fun to do or see, he would often make weekend trips to see the beautiful sights of El Salvador. He has the biggest heart of any one I know. I will never forget my experience in El Salvador with Teaching You. Thank you Joaquin

Traveling to El Salvador as a volunteer was an amazing experience. The people were really warm and friendly and I learned a lot of things. One of the best things there was the food which was delicious.
