Allows students to be focused on specific topics at a time

Program: SIT Study Abroad: Argentina: Public Health in Urban Envr.

Visiting the maternity hospital in Mendoza and helping the neonatal nurse clothe and prepare newborns to be presented to their parents for the first time. I knew I wanted to study Spanish in Latin America and wanted a serious program in which I could learn and be surrounded by likeminded individuals. As a pre-med, the public health topic certainly attracted my attention, and the rest was history. I also really liked that two excursions were planned within the program. I stayed with a host family in their apartment. The family provided breakfast and dinner daily as a part of their contract, and we were given a daily stipend of a very reasonable amount of money for lunch on our own. The program also included public transportation costs. Travel to the I-Salud building where classes were held took approximately 35 minutes from my apartment via subway, though with public transportation you never know what kind of delay you'll encounter.

A phenomenal experience for anyone looking for a radically different culture. The SIT Mongolia program actively immerses students in the culture through a series of home stays and numerous lectures from Mongolians and foreigners.

Absolutely worth it.

I honestly don't know where the idea of me studying abroad stemmed from. No one in my family had done it before me, so I had no examples to follow. But, once I declared my Global Studies major, I was required to study abroad, which ultimately led to my decision to study abroad for two semesters!

Since I was in third grade, there was nothing I wanted more than to just go abroad. My favorite toy was a globe and I would spend hours dreaming of where I would go some day. During my freshman year, I went to visit my university's study abroad office and been the process of deciding where I would spend a semester or year of my life. After jumping from Finland to Jordan to Colombia to Mexico, I finally settled on Bolivia and sealed the deal.
