Dental clinic in Ladakh
Submitted by DrZ - CT United States | November 07, 2017
I am a dentist, and I have done 5 dental missions in South/Central America and Haiti. This was the most well-organized in terms of patient care (really impactful preventative dentistry rather than simply extracting hopeless teeth). I felt that we were really helping these kids get off to a good start and avoiding problems as adults. The lodging, clinic, food, etc were really great. They even hired local dancers and musicians one night for our entertainment. Leh is a beautiful town, clean but dusty and extremely safe. Unfortunately it looks like this quiet trekking destination may be getting ‘discovered’ as there are a lot of new guest houses being built, so go soon!
A rewarding and magical experience in Guatemala
Submitted by Sabrina | September 05, 2017
This was not the first time that I had volunteered with Global Dental Relief in the Mayan Highlands of Guatemala but each time the experience brings so much more. The volunteers on each trip always make it so fun and everyone always gets along so well. The trip leaders are so organized and are available 24/7 for anything that you can think of. As a dental hygienist, being able to give back to children in need of dental treatment is beyond words. The smiles, hugs and appreciation received by not only the children but the parents make it so rewarding and special. The location of the clinic in the highlands is remote but has many basic amenities available and the people of the village are kind and welcoming. Volunteering at this location really allows you to get immersed in the true culture and life of the people within the rural villages of Guatemala. It is definitely a trip you will want to sign up for and you will not regret it.
Thank you GDR !

Cambodia dental trip
Submitted by mary padgett - Rhinelander United States | August 22, 2016
A wonderful, organized and rewarding program. All the legwork was accomplished for us, allowing the volunteers to do much needed dental work very efficiently. I especially enjoyed our interactions with our Cambodian partners. We work hard but also have time to sightsee and have fun. The trip leaders and other volunteers were great; dedicated and caring individuals. The accommodations were lovely and the town of Siem Reap lively.
