Taste of the Northern British life

This experience changed my life. When deciding to study abroad I was looking for an English-speaking country and preferred British culture, so I was satisfied with my decision to study abroad for a semester at Edge Hill University. Little did I know that the accent would be so tricky to comprehend at first, but I believe that I truly experienced the northern way of British life. The community is so welcoming and I loved getting to know my classmates and other students. Everyone was willing to lend me a hand when I needed help. After traveling to a few other cities around England, and London a great deal of times, I believe that Northwest England is its own kind. The people are so amazing, the culture is there, and it's where you can really dive into British customs. You can't get all this in the more "international" cities like London. Ormskirk is such a great town to be a part of and I cannot wait to return.

Edge Hill University was such a great pick for me when choosing to study abroad. From day one, my experience was fantastic. The layout, accommodation, and location of the university is excellent. The international office an enormous help and so supportive in what could be a scary transition for some students when first entering a new country. From my experience, the other students were very welcoming and helpful at all times. It was and still is like a home away from home. I would encourage anyone and everyone to consider Edge Hill University in their future!

My sophomore year of college I worked in our college’s admissions office. I remember a student came to work there after just getting back from studying abroad at Edge Hill University. She had so many amazing and vibrant stories, so I had to learn more. After researching the different options available to me for study abroad, I decided Edge Hill was where I wanted to be. They had classes that suited my major, and of course England is absolutely rich in theatre.

I wanted to branch out of my comfort zone, and England seemed like a good start to my journey of exploration. It was totally different than the U.S., yet I learned so many similarities between the countries. I am a curious person, so I wanted to learn and understand the perspectives of others and their take on everyday life.
