As a brand-new twin campus of the American University of Beirut (AUB), AUB Mediterraneo opened its doors in Fall 2023 to a small but incredibly diverse cohort representing 12 countries with plans to increase its student population to 2,000 over the next decade. The campus was established to deepen AUB ties throughout the eastern Mediterranean region and facilitate easier access to an AUB education. Degree-seeking AUB Mediterraneo students maintain their AUB connection through a period of residency at AUB in Beirut. This can be done in one of three ways: conduct a project on community-based learning in Beirut, complete an internship in Beirut, or spend one or two academic terms in Beirut. As first in their intrepid class, current students have 158 years of a world-class AUB educati...

very nice experience
April 25, 2025by: gaelle boustany - LebanonProgram: Undergraduate Studies in Cyprus at AUB Mediterraneoi really appreciated this semester. i met a lot of nice and interesting people, and i hope that i will stay in touch with them. the classes were very good, i was able to focus more since the number of students is way lower compared to aub in lebanon. this also allows better communication between the students and the professors/ staff. regarding the dorms, the spirit was good, i really got along with my roommate, but the common areas were often dirty.

What inspired you to travel abroad?
I have always sought to work in institutes of long-standing tradition that also have a modern and contemporary educational vision and practice. Having organized numerous university student trips in the U.S. and Europe, I have come to respect and believe in the liberal arts program that AUB Mediterraneo offers. I also respect that it is a non-profit organization and it seeks to assist its students in every way. It was also very appealing to be part of this amazing project starting from the ground up, a new venture, but with the experience of one hundred and fifty-eight years! Growing up in the Mediterranean, AUB was considered a beacon of light in education, so for me, this is a dream!

What inspired you to travel abroad?
I have been living in Pafos, Cyprus, for almost three years now. One day I heard, and read, that the American University of Beirut (AUB) was going to open a campus in Pafos. I was thrilled because AUB is a prestigious university and has an impeccable reputation not only in Lebanon and the Middle East but in Europe and the U.S. as well.
