A great way to learn Chinese in Taipei
August 09, 2026by: Jerry K - GermanyI spent six weeks at LTL Taipei taking a 1-on-1 Chinese course. From the beginning, everything was easy and well organized. Communication before my arrival was smooth, the classes were great, and there were plenty of activities outside of class. Even though I had 1-on-1 lessons, I still got to know other students and teachers quite easily. The atmosphere at the school is very friendly and relaxed. There are many international students speaking English, and many people in Taipei speak good English as well. But if you make an effort to meet locals and use Chinese in everyday life, there are still plenty of opportunities to practice. Taipei itself is also a great city to study in—very convenient, easy to get around, and there’s always something to do. Just be prepared for the VERY hot and rainy weather in June/July! I had Jessica 老師 as my teacher, and she quickly understood my level and asked what I wanted to achieve. Although I had learned Simplified Chinese before, that wasn’t a problem at all. LTL Taipei teaches both Simplified and Traditional Chinese, and I got used to Traditional much faster than I expected. Since my main goal was to refresh my Chinese and improve my speaking, Jessica adapted the lessons to me instead of just following the textbook. From day one, we spoke almost entirely in Chinese, which helped a lot with my listening and speaking. I had classes every morning from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., but I never felt overwhelmed and the four hours always went by surprisingly quickly. Jessica was also very kind and supportive—she even brought me breakfast a few times! After six weeks, I could really feel that my Chinese had improved. There were different activities every week, such as Mahjong, karaoke, museums, cultural activities, and group lunches near the school. Sunny and Riona put so much effort into organizing everything. They were always friendly and approachable, and they definitely made the course more enjoyable! Alin organized my classes and found a teacher who was a really good match for me. Greta was also very helpful before and during my stay. I had some issues with my original homestay arrangement, and she took my concerns seriously and really tried to help find a solution, which I appreciated a lot. The only thing I think could be improved is the homestay program. From my own experience and from talking to other students, the quality of host families seems to vary quite a bit. It would be helpful to have more consistent standards regarding things like cleanliness, distance from the school, and how involved the host family is. I also think it would be better to get information about the homestay earlier. Considering the price, renting a private room or apartment nearby can sometimes be a better option. Of course, I’m sure there are also many great host families—it may just depend a little on luck. Overall, I’d definitely recommend LTL Taipei to anyone thinking about studying Chinese in Taiwan. I learned a lot in six weeks, met some really nice people, and had a great time. If I come back to Taipei, I’d definitely consider taking another course at LTL.
Thanks for your kind words and feedback Jerry! We're so pleased you had a great 6 weeks with us in Taipei :) Hope you keep pushing forward with your Chinese. Come back and visit us soon!! LTL Team
LTL Taipei is where it's at!
June 26, 2026by: JT G - United StatesI've had a wonderful three weeks here at LTL Taipei. They are very organized, the teachers are all skilled and enthusiastic, and the non-teaching staff (particularly Riona and Sunny) do such a great job creating a community out of a group of students from a diverse array of backgrounds and Chinese ability levels (organized lunches and cultural excursions/activities every week!!). I really might come back next year! I started off in a group class for one week and switched to 1-on-1 for the latter two, and I'm grateful LTL was flexible with me on this. This is a company, not a university, so there aren't any exams or a rigid pace. This is both good and bad; it means they're way more flexible with adult learners' schedules and the atmosphere is welcoming and non-stressful, but it also means students aren't as disciplined and the teachers are accustomed to giving very little homework, which means slow language progress. For motivated students I strongly recommend the 1-on-1 classes so that you can go at the fastest pace that feels comfortable to you; I would only recommend the group classes for complete beginners or those okay with a very slow pace.
We are thrilled Riona, Sunny and the whole Taipei team made such a great impression and we will make sure they see your kind words! Thanks so much for taking the time to write such an honest and balanced review, feedback like this genuinely helps us improve. Keep up the great work studying Mandarin and we really hope to see you back next year! LTL Team
Two weeks at LTL Taipei
March 12, 2026by: Jan Lo - GermanyI’ve been at LTL Language School in Taipei for two weeks and can wholeheartedly recommend it. Right from the start preparation and booking went smoothly and I was sorted into the right level for my Chinese proficiency- thanks to Greta, Riona and Alin. They offer different classes, optional accommodation and a few extras. I chose group class (4h) in the morning and one-on-one lessons in the afternoon (2h). Overall this was pretty intense and one could consider either reducing the hours or making it more playful with their safari classes where your teacher takes you to different places in the city. However, I learned a lot in my six hours per day and both my teachers Anqi and Vivian made sure that the lessons fit to my level. They really made it fun and engaging and encouraged interaction and conversation. The one-on-one classes were a great place to review specific grammar that I struggled with and to further practice talking and listening. I usually joined the lunch group - Riona took us to several restaurants and helped with ordering the right food. The school also offers different optional activities like Mahjong, traditional pottery or cooking. If you can, I would recommend staying for at least a month to really benefit from the immersion.

Thanks for your lovely words, Jan. We're truly delighted you had a great two weeks in Taipei with us :) We saw you made great progress in a short amount of time and would love to see you continue! Best wishes, LTL Team
My Taiwanese culture immersion
December 06, 2025by: Selmann Durand - FranceIt has been now four weeks that I started to learn Chinese with LTL Taipei and this is an incredible experience and adventure that offers me to meet new people from all around the world as well as discovering the Taiwanese culture throughout many different activities and lunch with other students. And at the same time The school found a homestay for me and I’m leaving with an old Taiwanese couple that allows me to practice my language skills every day. I strongly recommend for anyone who would like to leave an immersive experience in another culture, as well as intensely learning a new language !!!!
We're so glad you are having an incredible experience with us Selmann! It's a pleasure to have you in Taipei with us and we hope you continue studying hard! Best wishes, LTL Team
Awesome intense Mandarin class in Taipei
November 01, 2025by: Nico Bähr - GermanyIt was a great decision to spend my educational leave (Bildungsurlaub) at the LTL language school in Taipei. Here are the reasons: + very professional teachers (mine were Tammy, Francine, Yunni and Wolfgang) who + explained grammar and new vocabulary (and its differences to similar words) very understandably; + explained everything in Chinese (at my B1-Level course) which let me immerse myself into the language very well; + are proficient in English so that they can offer English translations, if necessary; - one teacher‘s pronounciation was a little bit unclear and another‘s Chinese characters’ handwriting sometimes a bit difficult to read; + the teachers adjusted the class content to my personal needs (e.g. not only sticking to the book but also taught me other vocabulary when I said that I would like to learn more about a certain other topic); + created an open learning environment that never made me feel bad when I couldn’t pronounce a word correctly or so; + only gave few homework; - once a teacher mixed up the schedule and came half an hour too late, but > + she made up for it by offering another additional class time; + in general, the teachers rather taught a few minutes longer than shorter, so in total I might have had more than one free extra hour of classes. Besides, there are additional reasons, why I recommend LTL in Taipei: + opportunity to book a course for only one week and different amounts of class hours, group and/or single classes makes LTL very flexible; / 6 hours per day is veeery intensive, next time I might switch to four hours per day; + nevertheless, the mix of group classes and private classes was awesome; + very small groups (in my group class was only one other student); - ca. 750€ per week is quite a lot of money (but worth it); + very helpful staff (e.g. Alin, always there for questions); + organised community events (such as a very fun Lasertag evening with teacher Alice and daily lunches with lovely Riona); + workshops about Chinese/Taiwanese culture (e.g. Mahjong with teacher Tammy). Recommended!

Love to hear it, Nico :) We're delighted you've had a great couple of weeks with us in Taipei. Really happy you enjoyed all the activities too. Come back again some time. LTL Team
Wonderful language and cultural experience in Taipei
October 31, 2025by: Aljandro M - GermanyI’m impressed by how much I’ve learned in just a few weeks. You get to experience the learning styles, accents, idiosyncrasies of different teachers. There are many events organized by the school throughout the week which let you interact with other teachers and students from other levels. I highly recommend this program if you are willing to immerse yourself in the language and culture.
Thanks for your lovely review, Aljandro! We're delighted to hear you've had a great experience in Taipei with us :) Hope to see you come back again! LTL Team
High quality teaching at LTL Taipei
October 29, 2025by: Sabrina Bähr - GermanyI’m having a great time at LTL Taipei. The teachers are very good, their teaching methods are excellent. I learned quite a lot in he last two weeks, I’m surprised how quick it’s possible to improve ones language ability at LTL. Learning chinese at LTL Taipei is fun and very effective. The administration ladies who are organising the program, cultural activities and having lunch together are doing a very good job! Everything is organized very well. Thank you a lot for everything!
Thanks a lot for sharing your kind words, Sabrina. We're thrilled you've had a great time in Taipei with us! Come back soon :) LTL Team
The LTL Taipei Experience
September 29, 2025by: Brandon Hwu - United StatesI am on week four out of ten and have already learned so much. I had no previous experience with Mandarin and had signed up for the group classes. The group classes helped me learn faster as opposed to learning by myself and being in a group helped me better practice speaking in Mandarin. My teacher for the group class, Anqi Zhang, helped make class engaging by including topics or words that were relevant to us and gave extra details that made the coursework easier to understand. I definitely recommend LTL Taipei to anyone wanting to learn Mandarin.
Great to hear, Brandon :) Keep up the great work and thanks for leaving us such a wonderful review! LTL Team
Great time in LTL Taipei - Beginner Course
September 11, 2025by: Noa Meyr - MalaysiaLTL Mandarin School Taipei surpasses all expectations I had. The teachers I had - Sissi and Avril - are incredibly experienced yet humble and earnest. They are patient, and go out of their way to help each student in my group class overcome any blockers in learning Mandarin. Sissi and Avril are adept in accommodating our ad-hoc questions in my group class to satisfy our curiosity, but they also ensure that we don't veer off course too often, so that we stay on course in completing our syllabus. In addition, LTL school's administration managers (Riona) organise many casual get-together events during the week. These events can be as simple as lunch outings in the neighbourhood (both delicious and affordably priced!) or something as stimulating as a traditional Chinese seal engraving session at the end of the day. These impromptu events serve an important purpose in creating a friendly atmosphere for the school, and also allow us to practice speaking Mandarin together. I highly recommend LTL Mandarin School Taipei to anyone of any age who is interested in picking up Mandarin in a friendly, sociable environment, with experienced and warm teachers who will tailor the classes to fit your learning style.
Really happy to hear you had an amazing experience with us, Noa :) We loved having you around the school, and we hope to see you again sometime soon! LTL Team
2 weeks in Taipei
July 25, 2025by: Dylan Herrick - United StatesI studied at LTL Mandarin School in Taipei for two weeks. Coming in with almost no speaking experience (unless you count a small streak on Duolingo), I wasn’t sure how far I could get in such a short amount of time. But I was surprised. I can’t remember a time when I’ve learned so much in such a small time frame. If I studied here for a year, I think I would be able to function in conversations and be understandable. One of my classmates had a one year streak on Duolingo, and he said that he learned way more in just his first week of classes. Before I came, I had some minor concerns. For example, I saw someone on Reddit say that their books were outdated and they didn’t incorporate technology into their methods of teaching. It is true that the classroom setting is what you may now consider to be “old fashioned.” But I found this to be extremely efficient. Class consisted of talking with my peers and my teacher, Pinwei, which helped with pronunciation and getting the hang of things, and writing pinyin over the characters, which helped me recognize characters. Nothing was just simple memorization—my progress felt natural. Oftentimes, I would struggle, but Pinwei was very, very patient with me and helped me the whole time. Sometimes in my head I thought, jeez, she has to be annoyed by now. But nope, she helped me everytime without fail. And she also made class so much fun. We probably broke out in a minute-long stretch of laughter at least five times an hour, or something like that. Maybe I got lucky, but it really did seem like everyone involved really cared about their students’ learning experience, and they wanted us to have fun along the way. On top of all of that, LTL completed the language-learning immersion experience by organizing after-class lunches and evening-activities. I cannot thank them enough for this part. I thought I was paying to learn in a classroom, nothing else. But they really did go above and beyond. Meeting and enjoying the company of a dozen smart and fun people made my two week stay a journey I will remember for the rest of my life. This wasn’t something I expected at all. I thought I would come here, do some learning and then figure out touristy things to do by myself after. But everyone was so friendly, so welcoming and so open that it made participating in group events easy—and this is coming from an introvert. The organized lunches after class helped me get to know everyone and introduced me to so many good restaurants, and the nightly events, such as karaoke (I HATE singing, but I somehow still loved this), mahjong, and a nice good-bye dinner and bar experience, made me see everyone as a friend. We all laughed a lot. Riona was the teacher who set everything up, and she took lots of pictures. I really appreciate that she really did care, and she had fun just like the rest of us. She just really love her job! I hope one day I will be back. Thank you for everything!
Thanks for sharing your wonderful story with us, Dylan. We're over the moon you had a blast with us and made great progress during your two weeks in Taipei. Also very glad to hear you had fun during the social events, especially KTV! Hope to see you again. LTL Team
Friendly faces and fast language improvement at LTL Taipei
July 24, 2025by: Eli Hatcher - United StatesI’m currently on week eight of ten total studying with LTL in Taipei, and it’s been amazing. All the staff and teachers are super kind and knowledgeable, and I’ve seen so much improvement in my Chinese abilities. I’m also staying with a homestay set up through LTL, and my host family has been incredibly warm and welcoming. I would highly recommend LTL Taipei to anyone wanting to immerse themselves in Chinese. As a heads up, I’m including everything I would have liked to know ahead of time, so this is pretty wordy lol. For context for the rest of the review, I signed up for Homestay Half Board, 20 hours of small group and 10 hours of individual classes per week, the Survival Kit Standard, Connection Kit, and the Safari upgrade. When I came to Taiwan, I was at a high A1/low A2 level, but my speaking and listening was pretty weak. I have morning group classes from 9-1, a lunch break from 1-2, and then one on one class from 2-4 on Mondays and Wednesdays and 2-5 on Tuesdays and Thursdays (my teacher and I both enjoy having Friday afternoons off). I had about three weeks of morning group classes, but then my classmate left and I switched to the same amount of time but individual classes. I’ve had the same afternoon teacher (Anqi Zhang) for my entire time here. Since my morning group classes go through a standard textbook (more on that later), she focuses our classes on practical Chinese, like ordering at a restaurant, getting directions, and talking about hobbies and preferences. LTL has a variety of supplemental textbooks that she pulls the lessons from, and we also sometimes just talk about our days/life in America vs Taiwan to practice listening and speaking (my weakest areas). With the Safari upgrade, on Tuesdays and Thursdays (when we have three hour afternoon classes), Anqi takes me around the city to various interesting places. She asked at the beginning if there were any places I wanted to go, and I didn’t have anything in mind but told her I enjoy museums, so we went to both famous places (such as the Palace Museum and the Taipei Zoo) and lesser known (at least in my opinion) but very interesting places like the National Human Rights Museum and the Beitou Hot Spring Museum. I’d expected to need to do a lot more speaking in Chinese, but most museums actually have displays in both Chinese and English, so I practiced less than I’d expected but also learned a lot more than I could have understood from the Chinese displays alone. Though it wasn’t totally what I was expecting, I would still sign up for it knowing what I know now, since I’ve gotten to go to a lot of places I never would have known about (and Anqi helped provide context or answer questions that I had!). For the first three weeks of classes, I had morning group classes. I had one classmate for that time; briefly another classmate joined us, but on the first day he realized he was at a different level than our class, and LTL moved him to a more suitable class. We use the textbook series A Course In Contemporary Chinese; when I started the class was in level 2-2. I think it’s a great textbook; it has a lot of vocabulary and helpful grammar that I use in everyday life. It also has readings and a workbook with listening and extra grammar practice. LTL provides the textbooks, so I have my own copies of the textbooks that I can write on and will take home with me. For textbook levels 1 and 2, the textbooks don’t come with workbooks, so the teachers make copies of the workbook pages so we can do those exercises. (I’m currently in textbook 3-1, and this level came with its own workbook). After my classmate left Taiwan, I by chance had individual classes for a week and then decided to switch to full individual classes because I saw a big difference in my rate of improvement. The group classes were definitely helpful and worthwhile, but I do prefer the individual classes While group classes had to stick more or less to the textbook (though we definitely were still able to go off on tangents and talk with the teacher about our days), we’ve been able to pull in lessons from other textbooks on topics I’m interested in, spend our time discussing the news and learning relatively specialized vocabulary like basic math words (since I’m a math major), and adjust lessons to focus on my weaknesses (for example, rather than me reading the textbook’s reading selections, one of my teachers would read the text to me while I had my book closed so I could practice my listening more). Group classes were still great, but if possible I would recommend going with the individual classes for the fastest rate of improvement. Typically, each class has one or two teachers throughout the week. For my first week here, I had one teacher Monday-Wednesday-Friday and another Tuesday-Thursday. My one complaint with classes is that for various reasons, I’ve had several different teachers throughout my time here (probably at least five, though I don’t have a great memory). I think this was partly due to me coming in the summer, which is the busiest time for LTL since they also have a summer camp running, and partly due to things like teachers going on vacation or taking time off for other reasons. Though this wasn’t ideal, the teachers have great communication so I didn’t have to spend time getting them up to speed and kept progressing. I also enjoyed getting to experience the teachers’ different styles - some focus more on going through the textbook, which I enjoy making progress on, while others spend most of the time engaging me in discussions that help my speaking and pronunciation improve. The past few weeks, I have had a consistent few teachers (Alice, Sissi, and Avery), and they’re all very excited to teach and good at being encouraging while correcting my mistakes. All of my teachers have also been willing to give me honest feedback on my progress when I asked. Various teachers organize cultural activities maybe once a week or so; I haven’t gone to many because I was tired from class, but the ones I’ve gone to (including learning how to play mahjong and how to wrap and then cook dumplings) have been really interesting and well-organized. Ones I haven’t gone to include laser tag and karaoke. The academic manager, Alin, and the cultural specialist, Riona, have also been amazing. While I interact with my teachers more, they’re always a friendly face between classes, and they’re happy to help when I’m not sure which classroom I’m in or if I need anything. Because I have the survival kit, the school booked a driver to pick me up from the airport when I arrived. My flight had been delayed so there were some issues with me finding the driver, but even though it was a Sunday, Riona was available over Line (the communication app of choice in Taiwan) to help me figure it out. Riona also organizes lunches a few times a week for the adult students to go to if we choose, so I’ve gotten to try a bunch of different restaurants within walking distance of the school. Alin was very helpful when I mentioned trying to switch into entirely individual classes, even though I wasn’t sure if it would work out since I was already here when I asked to switch. I cannot say enough good things about my host family. They immediately welcomed me and are always willing to help me with anything or practice Chinese with me. When I first arrived, my host mom showed me to the bathroom (I was sick from my flight and needed to shower). She then took me out to breakfast, showed me around the neighborhood (including the MRT, Taipei’s subway system, which I use to commute to classes), and helped me buy an EasyCard and withdraw some cash from an ATM. On my first day of classes, she went with me to the MRT station, helped me purchase a monthly unlimited pass, and pointed out the route to school. My room is very nice, with plenty of storage, a desk and full-sized fridge, a TV, an AC unit, and a strong fan. I have a key to the house and a key to my room, though I’ve never felt the need to lock my room. The house has a washing machine (my host mom insists on doing my laundry for me, which is very sweet of her), and she hangs the clothes on a rack in my room to air dry. Though I brought an adapter (since I read most outlets have two prongs but my computer charger has three prongs), my host mom already had an adapter/extension cord that she plugged in for me. I also use their WiFi mostly without issues (it has gone out a couple times), including for video calls with friends in America. For the half board, my host family provides breakfast and dinner. They have provided lots of different things so I’ve been able to try various Taiwanese foods, and they’re very observant of what I like and don’t like. My host mom also very quickly realized that I enjoy fruit and now provides fruit for me after dinner every night. Although my host mom works six days a week, she often takes me out to local markets or parks on her day off. I really enjoy both seeing parts of local life that I wouldn’t have known to go see and getting to spend time with her. I plan to stay in touch with them after I leave Taiwan.
Thanks for sharing such a comprehensive review of your time with us, Eli. We're so thrilled to read you are having the best time in Taipei at your homestay and at LTL Taipei. We really appreciate your feedback on the safari classes and teachers also. We're glad that Taipei has been like a home-from-home for you and we hope to welcome you back again in 2026! Best wishes, LTL Team
My trip in Taipei with LTL
July 23, 2025by: MgPThis is my first solo trip, and I'm 17 years old. My first impression of Taipei is shaped by my homestay. I’m so lucky to live with my current hosts, they are incredibly friendly :D. We eat dinner together, talk a lot, and I’ve even made friends with their daughters. I love their dog <3 ; she is so cute! I’m constantly improving my Mandarin while talking with them, and you can feel that they are happy to have me here. I've gone out with them a few times, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it. I will definitely come back to visit them after this trip. Regarding LTL School, on my first day, I attended a class that I thought matched my level, but it turned out to be too easy for me. So, I asked a higher-level class. The next day, I joined a class that better suited my skills. You can always ask for class changes or switch to one-on-one if a teacher is available. Most of the books we use are from "A Course in Contemporary Chinese" published by the Mandarin Training Centre at National Taiwan Normal University. These textbooks are available for all levels (Textbooks 1-6), with levels 1-4 consisting of three books each, and levels 5 and 6 having two books. The books also include some simplified Chinese, so don’t worry if you’re starting from the simplified version. I am staying here for four weeks—three weeks in a group class and one week of one-on-one lessons. This means you can always request a class change. I have 4 hours class each day, In class, In group lessons, we talk a lot about different topics, including the world, personal experiences, and more. and the conversations are mostly based on textbook topics or given by the teacher. Therefore, no need to worry if you think you have nothing to say. You will definitely improve your speaking, reading, and writing skills. Through both lessons and my homestay, I’ve learned a lot about Taiwanese culture. I’ve realized that my Mandarin is mostly based on mainland Chinese Mandarin. In class, I've made many friends from all around the world, and we go out together after school and hang out on weekends. There are plenty of opportunities to make new friends. LTL regularly organizes activities and lunch outings, so students can gather together and enjoy meals. The recommended food is amazing, and I don’t think I can go back to the UK without missing it! It's always easy to ask LTL about organizing activities or food places for students, so you can join in. For example, I requested a karaoke activity, and I actually did it on that Thursday. They took me to a place where we could sing both English and Chinese songs. It was only 511 TWD, which is about £12 for four hours, including food, drinks, and a restroom in the room (the restroom is very important, haha!). It was my best karaoke experience; I made a lot of new friends and learned many new Chinese songs (because my teacher, needed me to sing Chinese songs with her, haha). This is just one of the activities I’ve enjoyed during my four weeks here, and I’m sure that if I stayed longer, I would create even more wonderful memories and experience even more exciting things. I have so much more to share, but I can't express it all right now! I'm just really grateful for everything I've experienced. The only downside is that I'm gaining weight here in taipei Teachers keep recommending places for me to visit and foods for me to try!!!

Thank you all for making my time in Taipei truly unforgettable! A special thank you to Sissy and Thomas for making the classes both fun and effective. It helped me make significant progress in Mandarin in just five weeks. I’m very grateful for this experience and would highly recommend LTL Taipei !

3 weeks of group class at LTL Taipei
April 06, 2025by: M B - GermanyI took 3 weeks of group classes at LTL Taipei in spring 2025 and had a very good experience. As for my classes, I had two different teachers — Thomas and Helen — taking turns, which helped me benefit from different teaching styles and way of speaking. As someone with very little Mandarin knowledge, I think I learnt as much as possible within those three weeks. Apart from class, almost every weekday, the school manager Riona would organize a group lunch at various restaurants in the vicinity. When ordering dishes for a round table, she always made sure there were some vegetarian dishes included to meet the dietary needs of various people. Generally all the staff at LTL Taipei was nice and helpful, without any exception. I also joined three social activities: Visiting a night market, playing Mahjong and going to KTV (karaoke). I enjoyed all of them. I do not have any experience with other Mandarin language schools, but I definitely recommend LTL Taipei.

Thanks for your kind words, MB! Delighted to hear you had a great three weeks of Chinese classes in Taipei with us. We enjoyed showing you more about Taiwanese culture and we're happy you enjoyed Mahjong, MTV and the night markets. Keep up the great work with your Mandarin studies :) LTL Team
A great month in Taipei
February 10, 2025by: Simon Egli - SwitzerlandIn January 2025, I spent one month in Taipei, studying at LTL and living with a homestay family. It was a great experience and I highly recommend LTL Taipei to anyone looking for an ideal place to learn Chinese. Although I had contacted LTL only one month in advance, everything was organized perfectly. The individual classes (intermediate level) with teachers Juju and Jessica were excellent and it was always possible to adapt the content (e.g. review chapters that I had studied previously). I also learned a lot about Taiwanese culture and customs when studying at LTL. Lunch club and other activities (e.g. playing Mahjong) offered another opportunity to practice Chinese and were a lot of fun. During lunch, there was plenty of time to get to know the other students and plan night market visits or weekend trips. My host family was very welcoming and we spent a very cosy Lunar New Year together. The school is located in a quiet alley in the Da’an district, with numerous restaurants and cafes nearby. Taipei is an amazing city to live in as a student and has a lot to offer, especially for foodies, but also in terms of cultural and outdoor activities. Also, the locals are lovely and appreciate your efforts when speaking Chinese. If you are looking to improve your Chinese in a friendly, open-minded environment, LTL is perfect for you.
Thanks for your kind words, Simon. It's a pleasure to hear you had a great time learning Chinese in Taipei with us. We're also thrilled you enjoyed the activities such as Mahjong and our daily lunch club. Come back soon! LTL Team
Great time in Taipei
December 29, 2024by: Nadine N - GermanyThe lessons were varied and interesting. I had group lessons with Sissi and individual lessons with Juju. Both of them taught me a lot during my time at LTL. Various activities were offered in the afternoons. Here I was able to get an insight into calligraphy and learn the rules of Mahjong. Overall, I had a great time at LTL and would love to come back.

A really flexible and fun experience!
October 30, 2024by: Gen Lai - AustraliaI’ve been with LTL for the past 2 weeks (out of 6). LTL was incredibly easy to communicate with before commencing the program (easy to understand, pre course emails and meetings) and provide really flexible options to be able to join their programs (start dates, accomodation, length of program). I’ve had teachers Tammy, Thomas, Yunni and Sabrina and they have all been very easy to learn with and provide helpful tips for conversational and useful Chinese (not just textbook learning). Super social lunches organised by Riona are so nice and support from Greta and Alin have also made it a really smooth process. Really enjoying it!
Thanks so much for all your kind words! 2 weeks down and great progress made. We'll do our best to make sure your remaining 4 weeks are just as productive :) Best wishes, LTL Team
Small classes, engaged teachers and fun activities
October 29, 2024by: Sabine B - SwitzerlandI really enjoyed my classes in Taipei with my teacher Sissi! She is very engaged and tailors her lessons to the students' needs. The class sizes are deliberately held small which helps you make quick progress. The school in Taipei is quite small but feels very welcoming.
Thanks for the lovely comments, Sabine. Really pleased you enjoyed your classes with Sissi. We'll be sure to pass on your regards. Hope to see you back in Taipei soon. LTL Team
A wonderful part of my happiness year
October 28, 2024by: Fiona Huynh - GermanyAn unforgettable experience during my gap year: My language trip abroad in Taipei was my very first time traveling by myself and LTL was definitely the right option to pick for such a trip. My teachers Tammy Xu and Francine Lu make learning Mandarin fun and not boring at all. LTL is a place to feel comfortable at and get to know many nice people.
This is so wholesome to read, Fiona ? Thanks so much for sharing your amazing experience learning Chinese in Taipei with everyone. Come back again soon! LTL Team
