The best way to grow your skills beyond a textbook or classroom!
August 12, 2026by: Suskia TreleavenThe Marketing & Communications internship in Sydney gave me the real life experience which I can tie closely to my studies, and this has helped me understand different topics more easily. The internship also gave me the practical experience I needed to help boost my CV (resume) for my later career, and better prepare me for my future. I enjoyed meeting many people from different cultures a lot. My host family accommodation was amazing; I couldn’t have asked for better.
Fostered Professional Growth and Confirmed a Passion for International Marketing with an internship in Tokyo
June 01, 2026by: Erica Refugio MartinezMy Marketing & Communications internship in Tokyo (Japan) was one of my most rewarding experiences for my professional and academic journey. What I enjoyed the most was the opportunity to fully immerse myself in a new culture that I became deeply fond of while working alongside professionals who supported me in my career aspirations by giving me the independence and challenge to develop and lead work initiatives. This experience also allowed me to observe Japanese culture and develop an appreciation and understanding for their work ethic and respect that I will continue to implement in my future projects and in my personal life. Most importantly, this internship helped me confirm my love for traveling and my future career in international marketing.
Amazing experience in Cusco!
May 29, 2026by: David EsquerI'm a current intern placed in Cusco, Peru through IVHQ, doing marketing and communications with a local organization. The process from application to arrival was clear and well organized, and the support has been genuinely responsive. When I've reached out, I've had the best experience with REAL people replying fast and actually being helpful. The placement itself has been the highlight: meaningful work, a great host organization, and an experience that's pushed my Spanish from conversational to fluent. If you're a student considering an internship abroad in Latin America, this is a legitimate and well run way to do it.
I am genuinely grateful that I took the leap despite my initial hesitation, because it became one of the most impactful and transformative experiences of my life so far.
May 08, 2026by: Casey Ann DeanI truly wish I had spent the full 12 weeks in Ireland rather than only four. However, within that short time, I tried to fully immerse myself into the experience as much as possible. One of the things I appreciated most was that my internship was genuinely hands-on rather than simply shadowing someone the entire time. I was trusted with real responsibilities, projects, and problem-solving opportunities that allowed me to grow professionally and personally in ways I honestly did not expect. Before arriving, I had fears and uncertainties about whether I would be capable enough, experienced enough, or even if my age would affect how I fit into the program. Those fears quickly faded once I became immersed in the experience itself. This internship challenged me to adapt to unfamiliar environments, problem-solve independently, communicate within a new culture, and gain confidence in my own abilities. I was able to work on projects involving social media, marketing strategy, Google Ads troubleshooting, tourism promotion, and organizational systems while also learning more about Irish culture, history, and daily life. Personally, the experience had an even greater impact on me than I expected. Living abroad helped me become more independent, adaptable, confident, and willing to step outside of my comfort zone. It also deeply inspired me creatively as a writer and future author by exposing me to new places, stories, perspectives, and experiences. I am incredibly grateful that I took the leap and participated in the program despite my initial fears and uncertainties. It became one of the most impactful experiences of my life so far. If I were to offer one area of constructive feedback, it would be encouraging more visible student testimonials, experiences, and promotional content surrounding the program itself. Before applying, it was sometimes difficult to find detailed firsthand experiences or examples from previous participants, which initially made the program feel harder to fully research and trust from the outside looking in. Because of that, I think encouraging more students to share their internship experiences publicly through testimonials, videos, social media content, or alumni stories could greatly help future participants feel more confident and reassured during the decision-making process. Now having completed the program myself, I absolutely would recommend it to others and plan to share my own experience as well. I am genuinely grateful that I took the leap despite my initial hesitation, because it became one of the most impactful and transformative experiences of my life so far.

An empowering Australian internship experience blending professional growth with lifelong friendships
January 30, 2026by: Ryan MatthysseThe Media & Film Production internship was an excellent experience from start to finish. Through the tasks I have performed and the effort I have put forth, I feel more empowered to succeed in my chosen career field. My homestay family was awesome. My coworkers were engaging and interested in learning more about me, and in teaching me more about Australian culture as well as their own. I came for an internship and made new friends along the way.
Gaining Real-World Marketing Experience in a Global Remote Setting
January 30, 2026by: Grace RussellI was very happy to be given such a unique internship placement that aligned with my interests and goals in the remote Marketing & Communications internship (hosted out of Japan). My internship coordinators were very thorough and made sure I understood what was expected of me. The people at my internship placement are very kind, helpful, and supportive. One of the best experiences in my life
January 20, 2026by: Ribhi OthmanProgram: Internships at Companies and Service-Learning in Seville
I have attended the one month service-learning program in the field of education. So far this was one of the best experiences in my life. Living in seville was amazing. Seeding Lurdes big hugs, she was the woman who hosted me in her house, she is the best! At first I had a bit of a hard time because I wasn’t understanding everything in Spanish, but after a couple of days it has improved significantly. Having Spanish classes and having to use Spanish to communicate with everyone around me made me acquire the language much faster. Also the Team of the Spanish institute - Paula, Macarena, Maria Jose, Gloria and Rocio were all amazing and sweet and had so much patience with us the students. Living alone in a new country with a new language for a month at the age of 18 was such a positive experience, I learned lots of things in this journey and I enjoyed it so much! For those attending I really recommend two main things: 1. Asking the Spanish institute when they are receiving students and how many, and to start the program with them. Because in this way it will be easier to make friends and have people to know and spend time with during your stay. I was so lucky to meet the American students there who came to seville for a study abroad program, and other girls from Europe and my roommate who was from brazil, they were all amazing. Therefore I recommend starting the program when the institute receives a new group of students. 2. Having a background in the Spanish language. I feel like this is very important, it would have been very hard for me if i attended there without knowing a little bit of spanish before, I think it’s very important and would make things easier. You don't have to be fluent or anything, but just knowing basic things in the language. I am really grateful I decided to attend this program, and I miss seville so much!
How My Marketing and Communications Internship in Japan Shaped My Career Path
January 18, 2026by: Emma DobrakowskaMy Marketing & Communications internship in Japan was a valuable experience that allowed me to develop my skills in marketing, communication, and teamwork. I gained hands-on experience supporting projects, learned from industry professionals and gain an understanding how creative strategies are developed and executed. The internship experience strengthened my confidence, expanded my knowledge of the industry and inspired me to continue pursuing a career in marketing and communications.
This internship has been an essential component of my academic and professional journey
August 13, 2025by: Farah HussainFrom the beginning of my internship, I was given all the details and information I needed to ensure I was fit for this internship and confident throughout. I was given help as and when needed by Veronica from the smallest details to connecting me with other students. Travelling to the Middle East was an entirely new and transformative experience for me. Having never travelled alone, this represented a significant step in my personal development. The most valuable aspect of my internship was the opportunity to engage with people across Amman. Another unforgettable moment was visiting Petra, one of the wonders of the world. The breathtaking views and historical magnificence and I had never seen anything like this before. One of the most significant skills I developed was communication. Prior to this internship, I felt hesitant about interacting with new people and sharing accommodation with strangers. However, as the weeks progressed, these concerns transformed into strengths, and I built numerous friendships that have lasted beyond my return. At my placement I gained substantial practical knowledge and skills crucial to my career path. The work environment was dynamic and motivating, filled with highly skilled professionals from whom I learned a great deal. I encountered several challenges, particularly at the beginning, including feelings of homesickness and anxiety about living with unfamiliar people. However, through open communication and building relationships, I gradually became more comfortable and confident. Overall, this internship has been an essential component of my academic and professional journey. It has equipped me with invaluable knowledge, practical skills, and personal growth that I am confident will benefit me as I continue to build my career and navigate future challenges.
Seville Should Be Your Destination!
December 31, 2024by: Sierra Curro - United StatesProgram: API: Experience Seville, Spain (Scholarships Available)
I first heard of Seville in my high school Spanish class and it never left my mind! That is why I was beyond excited (to say the least) when I found out that API offers an experience in Seville. This program led to a once in a lifetime experience that I will cherish every moment and memory from. Originally, I had only planned to go abroad for the spring semester of my junior year but then I discovered that not only does API offer a program in Seville - they offer one for the academic year and this is what I found myself doing! I will say it was an intimidating experience because not only was I leaving my life at home for a long time, I was one of the few year long students! But in the fall when I first arrived, API made sure that I got to experience the orientation just like all the other students. Orientation was really exciting because we got to fly into Madrid and spend a few days there! This gave me the opportunity to meet the other students on the program, including my future roommate. I have a fond memory of the whole group going together to explore the city and finding this awesome food market! API immediately had activities planned for us to orient to the abroad experience and get to know each other. These included a guided tour of a palace in Madrid and a group dinner. The special activities did not just end at orientation, they were extensive for the rest of my whole year-long experience! Some of my favorite memories from abroad come from the excursions we took like making homemade bread in a small village outside the city, staying the night in a monastery, flying to Barcelona, going on a walking tour in Cádiz, and so much more! Not only were these excursions a great way to explore Spain and the culture, they gave me a chance to become even closer friends with the students on my program. The friends I got to meet abroad are still some of my best friends today and even though we live in different parts of the country, we still stay in touch! I even got to meet up with one of then in Boston! Overall, choosing to study in Seville for a year was the best decision I have ever made in my life and I am already planning to take a return trip! API created an inclusive environment where it was easy to meet other students and the program leaders were always available to answer any questions. I appreciated their knowledge of the city and suggestions for restaurants and places to visit. The office has open hours where students can come in for support and email responses are fast. The program offered many housing options ranging from host families to apartments. I am so happy with the apartment I stayed in because I had my own room, a shared kitchen and living room, and the location was fabulous. (the rooftop pool was also a plus!) If you are deciding where to go, I highly suggest checking out the Seville program offered by Academics Program International because you will have the best time of your life and never want to leave the beautiful city!

Money well spent!
December 14, 2024by: Rebecca Gordon - United StatesWe were hesitant about sending our daughter so far away to "reset" herself. High school wasn't a successful four years and we desperately something for her to believe in her abilities again. Wow....did this program do that! The closeness of the group and support from the organization turned our daughter around. She loved the adventure and thrived both personally and professionally. The communication from the team was super. I reached out whenever I needed anything, and they were quick to respond. Who won't regret this adventure for your child or yourself.
I had the most amazing experience!!!!
November 28, 2024by: Audrey Ratcliffe - United StatesI participated in Spanish Gap Year's Future Leaders program in the fall of 2024 and I had the most amazing experience. We started out in Madrid for the first 4 weeks and stayed with a host family. While in Madrid we took Spanish classes at Tandem. Tandem is so amazing and I had the absolute best time there. For the last 8 weeks we stayed in Barcelona and had internships. Barcelona is so beautiful and fun to explore so there was never a dull moment. If I could, I would do this program all over again.
Summer in Barcelona
August 20, 2024by: Maia Brombart - United StatesProgram: Internships & Study Abroad in Spain & Latin America
I spent the summer in Barcelona shadowing psychologists at an assisted living residence. My coworkers were kind and helpful, and the patients were charming and sweet. The local program advisor was very helpful to me and my friends in the program anytime we needed anything. I also completed 2 weeks of Spanish classes prior to my internship. My Spanish improved tremendously, as did my professional skills. I feel that this program exceeded my expectations and helped to prepare me for a career in psychology. In addition to this, Barcelona was just an incredible city with so much life and character--I never ran out of things to do or places to see.
Amazing dynamic program!
August 01, 2024by: Charlie Thomajan - United StatesThe Spanish classes alone provided a ton of hands on learning. However, the entrepreneurship and internship portions are what provided a level of experience that has changed my life. With the internship portion you are given the opportunity to explore a field of your interests while making connections within the field and learning real business and work skills. The entrepreneurial portion provided invaluable experience where one can create and chase their ideas while working with mentors who have real credible experience. The skills of forming, creating, and pitching an idea as a real world entrepreneur is invaluable. You will learn public speaking, networking, how to ask for help, what works and what doesn’t with business, and a million other practical real world skills.
Amazing group pre-professional experience in Spain!
July 21, 2024by: Grace Wheelan - United StatesThe Spanish Gap Year staff is incredibly diligent, knowledgeable and caring, and this combination fosters an incredible environment to explore future career opportunities alongside a group of peers while immersing yourself in a new country. The program balances busy days that bring together Spanish language, entrepreneurship and individualized internships with plenty of independence to explore the cities you live in as well as the rest of Spain and even other parts of Europe if you choose! The support from program leaders in helping me fulfill my individual goals for the experience was truly one of a kind and I learned so much during 3 months, both in the classroom and in terms of maturity and independence from living in foreign cities. I would 100% recommend this program to anyone who has ambitious future goals, wants to expand their worldview, and is looking for a tight-knit group of peers to explore with!

Experience of a Lifetime!
July 02, 2024by: Sophia Bitner - United StatesProgram: Internships & Study Abroad in Spain & Latin America
I had an incredible experience with Adelante Abroad in Barcelona. I did a gap year after high school and had the time of my life. The team gave me lots of support leading up to my departure. Someone came and picked me up from the airport and toke me to my accommodation which was in a very central, safe area! The Spanish school was great and I made lots of friends which I stayed close to for my whole time in Barcelona. My internship itself was better than I could have ever asked for. The office was incredible and I loved the team I worked with. I learned new skills and I met people that will become lifelong friends. Overall, I truly had the experience of a lifetime. Barcelona has become a second home to me and I could not be more grateful for my time there! 10/10 experience and highly recommend.
