High School Outdoor Education Programs in Italy

Adventure through Europe with us and get a real backpacking experience as we navigate from Italy through Switzerland to Paris! Our approach is rooted in the classic backpacker strategy—get a rail pass, explore cities with various daily choices, and leave ourselves open to the spontaneous possibilities that every day brings. Our Older Teens trips are specially designed with older teens in mind. They are all about a hands-on approach to travel where we go beyond the casual tourist experience, take public transportation, and learn how life is in each place we visit. They provide a unique and carefully crafted itinerary that allows for more challenges and independence. We encourage teens on these trips to learn how to use a Eurail pass along with other handy travel skills so that they become confident and able to take on even more of the world in the future! This is one of our most popular Older Teens trips and combines a great mixture of classic European cities, mountain adventure, and Mediterranean beaches. Those looking to discover a nice mix of European cultures will love experiencing the best Italy, Switzerland, and France has to offer.

Since 2006, tens of thousands of volunteers have taken part in projects and internships worldwide, focusing on wildlife and marine conservation, education, and medical initiatives. Our Florence program is one of Abbey Road's most popular study abroad programs for nearly twenty years running. Our students benefit from the residential living experience in the heart of Florence and 24/7 support from our program staff of professional artists, chefs, photographers, and art historians. From daily classes in Italian Language, Photography, Studio Art, Tuscan Cuisine, and Art History to activities ranging from museum visits to Top Chef, we challenge our students daily to try new interests, expand their horizons, and make the most of this exceptional summer opportunity. We give our students fresh, high-quality food from local markets. Our culinary staff members shop for our students, they conduct Tuscan cuisine workshops where students learn to make some of the Florentine delicacies. We cook together one or two nights per week, on some nights we go out for group dinners at trendy local restaurants. Some nights we have catered meals. In any case, our students eat authentic, quality food, as opposed to fast food or tourist meals. Abbey Road’s teaching method emphasizes active, hands-on learning, and cultural immersion.

Dive into service projects centered on environmental conservation and get off the beaten path in this unforgettable adventure. You will savor the food, love the landscapes, and make new friends during this one-of-a-kind travel experience.

Join an unforgettable summer trip where high school students travel across Italy with a small group of fellow adventurers! With a rail pass and maps in hand, you'll tour Italy’s monuments, take in its artistic masterpieces, enjoy that perfect gelato, and discover just how good authentic pizza and pasta are. The program allows for a bit of flexibility and spontaneity along the way by allowing teens to participate in some of the planning alongside their outstanding trip leaders, all within our predetermined itinerary! The Italian Language Summer Camp in Florence is designed for students aged 14–17 and runs from one to eight weeks in July and August. In the mornings, participants attend interactive Italian lessons and engage in fun activities during the afternoons, such as city tours, sports, cooking classes, and photography workshops. Weekend trips include visits to the Tuscan coast and medieval cities like Pisa, Lucca, and Siena. Safe, welcoming, and full of culture, Florence is the ideal setting for teenagers to learn Italian, make new friends, and enjoy an unforgettable summer abroad.

Language Vacation's summer school campus is located on a peaceful, secure and quite stunning pine wood campus which opens out to a private beach and the beautiful waters of the Adriatic Sea. Located in a large residential campus "Villaggio Adriatico," the campus allows international students the opportunity to interact with Italian teenagers of the same age. The campus has an extensive pinewood park, a wide stretch of private beach, numerous sport facilities, such as a swimming pool, basketball court, sand volleyball, and tennis courts.
