Most meaningful experience ever!
August 05, 2026by: Emy Yoshida - EnglandProgram: GLA Ghana: Children of Africa
I went to Ghana as my second GLA program, we were so warmly welcomed into the community as we taught at the local schools, played in the park with the children and were welcomed into local homes to learn the language. The teaching at the school however was the highlight of the trip, we got to know all our students well and teach them some new things, like songs and harder vocab. I would definitely recommend!!
Most meaningful program ever
November 11, 2025by: Emily Yoshida - United KingdomProgram: GLA Ghana: Children of Africa
The Children of Africa program has been the best GLA program I have done yet! Staying in a small village in the Krobo region of Ghana, we really connected with the local community and we made such good friends with the local children and our students in school. We saw the struggles it had with educating children with special needs, and when we came back we all were so inspired with how the local community pushed through that we started a fundraiser and raised almost $10,000, which we sent to the schools that we taught at. I came back to my life with so much more appreciation for the luxuries that we have, and a new mindset about taking all the opportunities that i am given.
Absolutely life changing experience!
October 19, 2025by: Karenna Saleh - United StatesMy trip with OGVO was by far my favorite experience yet. The program did a fantastic job of taking care of every single need or want, always working to make my experience that much better. My internship in a diagnostic lab was well organized and adaptable to my interests, and the members of OGVO were incredibly flexible in working around different hours based on what I wanted to work on. Communication was easy and reliable. My host family stay was extremely welcoming and fun, and I had the chance to befriend wonderful roommates. Everyone within the organization, and within Ghana in general, was extremely kind, and I made excellent connections with many different people. Accommodations were great, and every need was met and solved quickly. The weekend excursions were also a wonderful break from the week and a chance to get the tourist side of Ghana. While it takes a moment to adjust after all the travel, in the end, I was well cared for, entertained, and able to engage closely in what I was passionate about. I had a life-changing trip with OGVO, and I do not think it would have ever been the same with a different organization. Thank you, OGVO!!

Awesome Adventure with OGVO!

Two wonderful weeks
July 03, 2016by: Ellinor - SwedenI spent two wonderful weeks in Kumasi, Ghana. The food, the host family, the work - everything was excellent! You really get to see Ghana from within which is such a fantastic experience. Still, the security always felt very high.
