The Machame route is considered the best Kilimanjaro climbing route due to its highest summit success rate. Climbers acclimatize better at Barranco, making it easier and safer to reach the summit. Additionally, the Machame route is known for its stunning views and the scenic beauty of Mount Kilimanjaro. Nicknamed the “Whiskey” route, the Machame Route is a popular yet challenging path to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Known for its scenic beauty and better acclimatization profile, it's ideal for adventurous trekkers with some hiking or backpacking experience. Though more expensive than the Marangu route, it offers excellent value for those seeking a varied and rewarding climb. The route begins on the southwest side of the mountain and descends via the Mweka route.
