Nicknamed the “Whiskey” route, the Machame Route is a popular yet challenging path to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Known for its scenic beauty and better acclimatization profile, it's ideal for adventurous trekkers with some hiking or backpacking experience. Though more expensive than the Marangu route, it offers excellent value for those seeking a varied and rewarding climb. The route begins on the southwest side of the mountain and descends via the Mweka route.
