African Marine and Wildlife Volunteer Adventure Tour

If you can’t decide on a travel itinerary when visiting Africa, join our African Marine and Wildlife Volunteer Adventure Tour! This five or six-week program is a combination of adventure activities and volunteering opportunities in various locations: Kruger National Park, Swaziland (now called Eswatini), and Mozambique. Spend weeks 1 to 4 in Mozambique where you gain an international diving qualification and learn techniques in marine monitoring and data collection. The work you do contributes directly to larger research initiatives. In the final week, dive into the culture of Eswatini and explore the outdoors on foot or on a bike. Then, see the Big 5 and other wildlife in Kruger and even experience camping in the wild for four nights! This volunteer and adventure tour is perfect if you’re studying or interested in marine biology, zoology, conservation, or wildlife management or if you’re fond of the outdoors and wildlife. The trip is definitely the adventure of a lifetime!

Volunteer in Mozambique: Marine Conservation

Volunteer in this whale shark and marine conservation project in Mozambique. Earn an international diving certification, too! Contribute to sustainable tourism, work with professionals, and experience the natural wonders of Tofo, a beautiful town on the Indian Ocean. Engage in various activities, from research and data collection to beach cleanups and underwater photography. Potential tasks include whale shark observation and photography, data collection, coral reef monitoring, identifying endangered species, whale and sea turtle observation, and beach cleanup. These tasks can change slightly depending on the time of year; humpback whales, for example, can only be seen from June to October. Your program begins with a 4 to 7-day PADI diving training, should conditions allow. This certification involves dives of up to 18 meters deep. Already PADI certified? You can opt for more advanced training. Afterward, you can begin the project! On weekends, you have time to explore the stunning beach of Tofo, relax, swim, or surf! You may also take Portuguese lessons and join historical tours when you are not in the water.

Elephant Conservation in Mozambique

Become a part of the only wildlife conservation volunteer program in the Gonarezhou Transfrontier Park and Mozambique! Together with other participants, you contribute to the protection of animals that call the reserve home. Collect vital data (such as game populations and rare sightings) and monitor the area's condition on daily game drives and bush walks. All evaluated data is shared with relevant institutions. This wildlife conservation program largely involves physical work, which is more fun than you think it would be! Get your hands dirty while immersing yourself in the African bush, among animals in their natural habitat. The volunteer work you do is key to the survival of wildlife and the success of wildlife conservation! The program includes en-suite accommodation shared by a maximum of 2 persons. Volunteers stay in shared safari tents in our northern camp during winter (March to October) or in shared chalets in our southern camp during summer (November to February). The program duration is 3 weeks and cannot be extended due to visa regulations.
