Volunteer tasks generally include coastal habitat restoration, coral reef monitoring, seagrass surveying, fish surveying, turtle and nesting site monitoring, coral gardening, and lionfish monitoring and capture. The Island Seaside Conservation program in Cuba accepts volunteers with varying levels of experience. However, please note you must be an experienced snorkeler and dive certified to participate in coral gardening and lionfish capture activities. An intermediate level of Spanish is also necessary since most island residents are non-English speakers.
