Incredible experience I recommend for anyone
January 03, 2025by: Josef Burkan - NorwayProgram: Study Abroad at NMIT, in the sunniest region of New Zealand
At NMIT I had the opportunity to meet many students from all around the world. I made many great friends for a life time on the other side of the globe of my home country. It was definitively a once in a life time experience. Both Nelson and the rest of the country was also incredibly beautiful and likely had the most interesting nature I have ever seen.
My unforgettable study abroad experience in New Zealand
December 27, 2024by: Timo Oerlemans - NetherlandsProgram: Study Abroad at NMIT, in the sunniest region of New Zealand
Studying abroad in New Zealand was truly a life-changing experience. From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the breathtaking beauty of the country, from its green hills to its crystal-clear lakes and majestic mountains. Exploring iconic locations, including some famous for being filming sites, added a extra touch to the journey. These natural wonders alone were enough to make the experience unforgettable, but my time there went far beyond sightseeing. One of the most valuable aspects of this experience was the opportunity to immerse myself in different cultures. I also learned a lot about myself, gaining a deeper understanding of my interest, adaptability, and curiosity. The academic environment was equally transformative. The teaching methods and perspectives at my host school broadened my vision, challenging me to think beyond the frameworks I had been accustomed to back home. Engaging with peers from various cultural and academic backgrounds helped me develop new ways of thinking and collaborating. Sharing adventures, celebrating milestones, and simply enjoying each other’s company created memories that are deeply etched in my heart. Whether it was hiking through stunning landscapes or playing some games, every moment felt special. I wholeheartedly recommend studying abroad in New Zealand to anyone considering it. It’s a chance to discover a stunningly beautiful country, embrace cultural diversity, and develop yourself. My time there has left an indelible mark on me, and I will always look back on it with immense gratitude and joy.

Lifelong memories
December 17, 2024by: Maurice Braun - GermanyProgram: Study Abroad at NMIT, in the sunniest region of New Zealand
My semester abroad in Nelson, New Zealand, was an unforgettable experience. The people here are incredibly warm and welcoming. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with kindness, and the openness of the locals made me feel at home right away. At the Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT), the atmosphere was supportive and encouraging, fostering both academic and personal growth. The natural beauty of New Zealand, however, left the deepest impression on me. Nelson, surrounded by breathtaking national parks, offered endless opportunities for exploration. Highlights included hiking in Abel Tasman National Park and visiting the Nelson Lakes, where I was struck by the serene landscapes. I was also lucky enough to see dolphins and penguins in the wild. This experience not only broadened my academic horizons but also strengthened my connection to nature. New Zealand is a place I will always cherish and want to revisit.

Take me back please
December 16, 2024by: Jesse Biesmans - NetherlandsProgram: Study Abroad at NMIT, in the sunniest region of New Zealand
My name is Jesse, I am a Dutch student who has been lucky enough to study at NMIT in Nelson for six months. I will recommend to anyone who is thinking of studying there to go and do so. The people there are very friendly, the courses are well structured and you will be provided with all the necessary resources to pass every part of every course. A lot of activities are provided for students and you can enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Nelson. So, the only thing I have left to say is: TAKE ME BACK PLEASE.
Incredible experience
November 13, 2018by: Gregg Starr - United StatesProgram: Semester Abroad in New Zealand & Australia - Conservation
I had one of the greatest times in my life going on a Pacific Discovery trip. It was incredible and I learned more about myself then I ever imagined I would. Rach and Scotty led the trip and they were amazing guides and teachers. I have always highly recommended this type of trip to students who might feel stuck in college or not sure what to do. The trip will open up your eyes to new experiences, cultures, and make you think about how to live your life in a more adventurous way. Wish I could do it all over again and experience everything I did again for the first time. Cheers, Gregg Starr
Yes, I had an amazing experience!
July 27, 2018by: Grace - United StatesProgram: Semester Abroad in New Zealand & Australia - Conservation
Pacific Discovery planned out the trip incredibly, and everything we did was mind-blowing. The trip really allowed me to step outside my comfort zone and experience new things that I definitely would not be able to do at home. The program also really allowed me to explore myself as a person in a way that I never have before. I felt like I really grew through all the activities we did and through any hardships that we had (we had very few though). Overall, I had the time of my life and learned so much, especially with two incredible instructors, Beth and Stacey.
The most incredible trip I've ever taken
January 06, 2014by: Leslie PanellaProgram: Semester Abroad in New Zealand & Australia - Conservation
Choosing Pacific Discovery was the best decision I could have made for my gap semester. Every single aspect of this trip was above and beyond what I thought it could be. I had the most incredible time and made lifelong friends. I cannot recommend this program enough. The places we visited, the people we met, our guide (Holly is the coolest person ever), and all of the incredible things we did are experiences I will never forget. New Zealand and Australia are two incredibly exciting and fun countries, and were so much fun to explore and travel through. The entire program was incredible and I would do it again and again if I could.
