Wharf Master's Inn

The Wharfmaster’s House is a proud symbol of our maritime heritage, standing as a testament to Point Arena’s rich history. Overlooking Arena Cove, our home once belonged to the wharf master, who played a vital role in the town’s economy by overseeing the shipment of lumber, dairy, and other goods to San Francisco. Built in the mid-1870s, it was likely prefabricated in San Francisco and brought here as a kit, making it one of the most architecturally elaborate structures in the area. From its elevated position, the wharf master could monitor port activities while enjoying an unparalleled view of the ocean.
