For more than 60 years, JYM has pursued a single mission: to integrate US undergraduates with studies at Germany's top-ranked university: Ludwig Maximilians Universität München (LMU Munich). Wayne State University has sponsored JYM since 1953. 

One-semester or academic year study abroad in any major is possible with JYM (students must enrolled at US colleges and universities). 

JYM is a full immersion program; all instruction is in German. 

JYM students are enrolled at the LMU Munich (ranked among the top 30 universities in the world) and may take university courses in nearly any field. The program also provides language training and optional area studies courses taught at the JYM institute which is centrally located in the city's museum district. 

Full-year students may earn a Certificate for Intercultural Competence Study and Training from the Institute for Intercultural Communication. Undergraduate research and internship opportunities are available.
