The satisfaction of hand-picking ripe vegetables for a fresh meal. Watching the seasons change paints the landscape with vibrant colours. The bond with animals cultivates loyalty and companionship. Experiencing the tranquillity of nature offers peace amidst hard work. The thrill of a tractor ride across open fields exhilarates the spirit. Building resilience through the challenges of unpredictable weather. Learning the cycles of life fosters a deep appreciation for nature. The joy of sharing homegrown produce with neighbour creates community. The simple pleasure of a warm meal after a long day’s work. Each sunset over the fields feels like a promise of tomorrow. I joined RealStep and their marine conservation project because I wanted to gain a different perspective than I had on the world. During my time, I identified and supported various areas of marine conservation assistance. I recommend RealStep because it's a new way to discover another country and culture while respecting the environment. RealStep supported me the whole time for a successful completion of this project.

As interns, we had the role of "Vet Nurse". We vaccinated, dewormed, injected, and disinfected wounds on various animals (dogs, cats, horses, goats, sheep, etc.), and we were able to assist the veterinarians during game capture. It is important to bring an open mind to new cultures as it was very different from where I am from, Europe. By bringing an open mind and I was able to open myself up to another culture and way of life. I recommend this project to beginning vet students as you are getting hands-on experience, but the most important thing to remember is that you're extremely important in helping people and animals.
