Swimming with a Giant
February 21, 2026by: Zak LongerstaeyWhen we first saw the whale shark from the surface, it was even bigger than I could’ve ever imagined and to think it could get 3 times bigger was ridiculous. Swimming alongside it felt like a fever-dream.

Caring for turtles was a real pleasure for the whole family! Releasing some into the ocean was incredibly emotional. It’s the perfect mission for families and for those who love turtles, nature, and a deep cultural immersion.

I wanted to make a difference in wildlife conservation while getting to experience a new culture. Going abroad allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and immerse myself in hands-on conservation work. Being surrounded by incredible big cats and other rescued animals while contributing to their care and rehabilitation was an opportunity and experience I could not miss.
