V2 Volunteer & Vacation Reviews
In touch with my roots

I had visited Jamaica a few
times with my family previously but never really felt I had a true Jamaican experience. You can only see so much of Jamaica when you stay in a hotel.
My 2 week experience was amazing. There was a perfect balance between autonomy and protection.
Jade was an Amazing host. Her local knowledge is amazing and she showed me a side of jamaica I never knew existed. She helped me to fall in love with Jamaica.
Working locals helped to put my life into perspective. The work these people do is amazing and it was a privilege to be able to contribute in my own small way.
Thank you to Jade and everyone from v2 volunteers.
You changed my life.
V2 teaching placement

Volunteering at V2 was one of the best experiences for me! I learned so much about myself and the culture and I was greatly inspired.
V2 allowed me to contribute to the community whilst falling in love with the culture and the people. Although I was in a place completely unfamiliar to me, V2 staff made me feel comfortable and welcome along with everyone else I encountered on my trip. Any difficulty we came across was quickly resolved by staff to ensure that we were well looked after. The only thing I would change is that, if given the opportunity again, I would stay for longer than a week because I had the best time.
Everything I wanted and MORE!

I took part in V2 Volunteering experience last year because I had been to the Caribbean before and wanted to experience something deeper than the 'tourist experience'.
I explained what I was looking for and my interests and I was paired with a local school to volunteer at. The children were truly amazing and very receptive to learning from someone from a different background - they were very inquisitive and I truly felt like they took something away from me being there just as I had.
I should also add that the waterfall was enough of a reason to o in itself - truly breath taking!

V2 all the way!

My volunteer and vacation experience in Tobago was a great way to combine my passion for international development, travel and the Americas. From the get-go everything ran smoothly- airport pickup, accommodation in a superb villa with pool and dining in beach side restaurants!
The primary school volunteer placement was an eye opener into the Trinidadian education sector. I had the opportunity to roll up my sleeves and lead my own classes. The teachers were supportive and the children ready and eager to learn.
Tobago is a wonderful country with great beaches, food and people. Jade, our Coordinator, ensured that our experience was a positive one. She organised an island tour, boat trip, hike through the rainforest and scaling up the Argyle waterfall, among many other activities.
I’m looking forward to my next V2 adventure!
V2 Equine Therapy Placement

My 2 week placement at Healing/Being With Horses was so much more than I could have expected. Throughout the week different organisations bring children and adults with varying disabilities to use the facilities at Healing With Horses. These are free sessions and rely heavily upon volunteers to provide a safe environment for the people who use them. I got to work with young adults who had mild to severe learning difficulties, we groomed the horses, mucked out, watered them and then they had the chance to sit on and ride one of the horses in turns. I also had the opportunity to work with the children from the Tobago School for the Deaf, the children were more loving and compassionate than you could imagine and were desperate to show you how they could bounce on the trampolines, dig in the gardens, plait the ponies and how fast they could run round the obstacle course. It was so lovely to see them enjoying themselves and really working together to help each other around, particularly with children who also had physical disabilities.
Veronika and Lennon, the founders, are the most inspiring people, I learnt so much about their practises with the horses, how they go out most days and rake grass from the golf course to provide the hay, the amount of care and attention they provide for all the children. At the end of my placement, I was invited on a trek along the beach, bareback riding with jus a head collar, followed by a photographer and swimming with the horses, walking through the mangroves and just generally enjoying going out with the whole herd.
I also got to take a trip across to Trinidad for an awareness event for one of the sponsors, we worked with the mounted police to provide rides for children, sold t-shirts and gave out leaflets. Whilst in Tobago we went on a road trip and also went out to try the street food. Back in Tobago we regularly went to the beach, trying local food, fully immersed in the local culture and also testing out the nightlife.
Overall the experience was fantastic and I would highly recommend it to anyone.
