Sahara Service Organization Reviews

The programme was amazing! We spent two weeks in Morocco doing services for a school in a small village, painting the walls and playing with the kids. All of us had a good time with the kids and it is so meaningful to interact with them even though we could not communicate with each another very well. But happiness is universal. Besides volunteering, the programme planners also arranged a lot of activities for us to experiences the real life in Boudnib, including the host family staying and the social life in a small town near the dessert. It is very worthy for a city person like me to see different parts of the world in a way like this other than only knowing a place through travelling tourist spots.
One week in Boudnib

I attended the Sahara Service Organization's second week of activities and had an excellent time! We served nearly 200 children with games and activities, as well as helped repaint buildings and clean up pounds and pounds of litter. There was a great mix of hard labor, cultural exchanges, reflection time, and socializing with other SSO members. Our group bonded really well and we got to see a lot of Boudnib, as well as several surrounding villages. Our hosts were generous of time and love, giving us wonderful experiences and memories and making sure we had everything we needed (they even did our laundry when we were busy working during the day). It was a tiring week but I loved every activity we did and would definitely do it again!

I had the pleasure of coming out earlier this year to assist with the construction of a tire playground in a small village right outside of Boudnib, Morocco. The program administration planned everything to a T well in advance so we were able to focus all of our energy on the work at hand. Kids and community leaders also came out to help and support our work. The building was tough but it all was all worth it to see everyone come together to create something useful and sustainable in the community. Great experience -- would definitely participate again.

This was a great experience. The volunteer projects were beneficial for the community and also for the volunteers. The community we helped seemed to welcome our presence and also work along with us, providing the most sustainable impact. It was a very positive experience and it seemed like everyone involved benefitted.
