I completed a six-month cybersecurity internship with Cyberon where I gained hands-on experience in VAPT and SOC operations. The internship focused on practical learning using industry-relevant security tools and methodologies. I worked on multiple projects related to vulnerability assessment, security monitoring, and basic incident response, which helped strengthen my technical foundation. The exposure to standard cybersecurity practices improved my understanding of skills required for professional and global cybersecurity environments. Overall, the internship was a valuable learning experience that enhanced my confidence and readiness for future cybersecurity opportunities.

Participating in the Supply Chain and Logistics Internship with the Institute for Global Studies was an invaluable experience. In the 22th of may 2025 I was sent to a marathon in Ifrane city Morocco, as a medical staff (physiotherapist) and it was a big challenge for me as the marathon called "trail des cèdres" was a big events that has more than 200 participants , we worked all day all night and it was absolutely tremendous , the participants most of theme was big hight level athletes, our job was to do sport massage and to relaxed the muscles for the next day of the marathon. Is was such a wonderful 3 days of work with a whole staff of doctors , physiotherapists and osteopathische also.

Coming from a small town in Michigan I had never traveled outside the Midwest prior to joining the Marine Corps. This presented me with an opportunity work in and visit parts of Asia, like Japan and Korea. Since leaving The Corps I have since visited several counties including Paris (twice), Johannesburg, South Africa and Scotland on a study abroad trip. I think it important that we see the world to appreciate how other parts of the planet operate and for me to see how other countries view the United States. I have gotten mixed reviews by the way. What I have learned to appreciate the country of my birth and that we are not all that different.

Living in a different country can truly broaden our perspectives and help us appreciate diverse cultures. I went to Israel for agriculture internship for 2 years from 2019 to 2021. It was a great opportunity for me to learn more about agriculture and how can be horticultural production can integrate with aquatic or fish farming. Apart from that I learned about Jewish culture and pay visit to different places as written in the Bible about Israel

It started with a Google search. I tried to look for ways to travel despite the pandemic. I am bored to death at home. I searched available internships on Google, and tadah the Institute for Global Studies came up. I was very hesitant at first, but the video call with Dr. Adams made me trust the organization. He assured me everything will be safe and sound. Fast forward, 1 week after my internship in Hawaii. I so missed the people there, the people I bonded the most, the children whom I taught English, and the IGS mentors I gained along the way. Glad that I did that Google search!

I became a youth mentor in Bangkok and all I can say is Thailand is really beautiful. More than the postcards and the YouTube videos that I watch, it is intensely more beautiful in person. We toured Bangkok during weekend trips - me and my co-interns. They are nice people and fun to be with at the same time. Among all the places we visited, mI can't forget The Grand Palace and the floating market. There are still so many tourists!

Indeed, domestic violence poses serious threats to women and their children. I have witnessed it first hand in my own home, and I regret every second of it. When I was presented with the chance to work with women and children in their care shelters, I was ecstatic. Even told it to my mom and she was very supportive. Internships like these are rare, and being chosen as an intern here is an honor for me. Happy to do it with IGS! :)

As a policy student, I really am very interested with this internship. When my classmate told me her experience with IGS, I did not hesitate and applied. Good thing, IGS's courses are available the whole year, so I was able to find an internship suitable to my needs and preferences. I got to experience 3 weeks of fulfilling and rewarding internship, and actually make a difference on others' lives.

As an Education Major, I know that the childhood phase and early youth phase are crucial stages in one's life. That's the precise reason why I chose this internship. Here, I was given the chance to work with children abandoned by parents and committed some juvenile crimes. We created teaching lessons for them and spearheaded class discussions. What melted my heart is that they are really actively participating and very much enthusiastic as they listen. I wish I could extend my trip, but I had to go home because of personal matters. I'll be back I promise!

Children and women are being exposed to so many risks, like emotional, psychological, sexual, and physical abuses. While society are doing its best to address these issues, there are still a handful of cases left unheard and unresolved. In my internship, I was tasked to answer hotline calls from abused women and children, interact in their therapy sessions, and even organize parties for the children in the shelter. These kids are so adorable and I could not bear the fact that some people are finding it easy to resent them. At the outset, before we started our internships, we are trained by licensed guidance counselors and psychologists and told us what to and not to do. I learned a lot.

Being a teaching assistant in the Netherlands is a dream come true for me. In my work, I was assigned to gather and distribute school supplies, helping students with their lessons, and keeping the classroom organized. Having a practical experience inside the classroom - seeing how children behave, knowing what motivates kids - is good exposure for me, as I wanted to be a licensed teacher in two years' time. :)

There are dozens of different occupations that involve dealing with kids, but teaching them in an educational setting is my favorite. I'm happy that my mom suggested me this internship and messaged Dr. Adams about the possibility of taking an internship despite COVID. Luckily, they are still open for internships. Everything is wonderful. And IGS never failed to remind us of safety precautions. Thanks, IGS!

In my internship, we are deployed in a small community school in Thailand. The kids are really adorable and the teaching staff are so kind! Aa a teaching assistant, I help the classroom teacher in preparing her materials, and having one-on-one sessions with kids that are having troubles with lessons. Dr. Rahim, the school principal, even gave me a letter of recommendation, that I can present to my future employers.

Upon arrival, we were given enough time to rest and settle down. The next day, we had a week-long training session about marine animals and ecosystem. So much to learn! The speakers are commendable and knowledgeable and credible. IGS gave me a really memorable winter internship. My co-interns, Rachelle and Mark are inspiring people. They are already established in their fields so I got to learn from them.

I would like to commend the Institute for Global Studies for finding great placements for interns like me. I was assigned in Hawaii and I had such a great time! We had the rare opportunity to participate in an open-ocean research cruise, SCUBA dive on Bermuda’s coral reefs, gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge equipment, and engage in seminars relating to marine science. There’s so much to see and learn!

My main duty as an intern is to communicate with the visitors (address their concerns and also educate them on the aquarium’s different marine life). It’s actually fun seeing kids being amazed by the natural life down there. Even adults look like kids when they see the magnificent corals. It’s a fulfilling job for me. Interestingly, the island has a plethora of coral reef and fish exhibits and any more others that I get to visit on my free time.

I really love traveling. They say that when you do something you love, you won't have to work a day in your life. So this is my first step to being a travel consultant. The firm I was assigned to is very hospitable - was welcomed by an all-female staff, which made me really comfortable. They are like sisters and mothers to me. I got particularly close to Jessica, my partner in our Japan project, and to Ms. Lilia, who is my boss in one of our arrangement/ deal with a rude customer! They are so nice even if some customers are so rude, that's why I really admire them. It was grace under pressure, in the most literal sense!

Working for a travel consultancy firm made me realize how interesting this field is for me. I talked to clients, created itineraries, did research on fares, and communicated with a lot of people. When I said phone calls are main part of my job duties, I ain't lying. But the fact that I learned about the operations (ins and outs) of travel consultancy is very significant to me. Very valuable, since I plan to open a travel consultancy firm in the near future!

IGS gave me a position in a medium-sized museum and I loved everything about it. I super like that it's not too big to be filled with so much people, as it trigers my social anxiety. I love also that it isn't too small to not do anything. i was trained in how to communicate with visitors, and was oriented on the history of the majestic pieces of art. Thankj you very much, IGS!

Having my internship virtually is very convenient and hassle-free. My everyday work consists of responding to the concerns of some students and doing some graphic designing for websites (because that's what I'm good at). Considering the great deal and variety of persons one will encounter, the field of customer service is challenging for me. This internship taught me that good things worth having never comes easy.

Sepanx is real! (separation anxiety) I gained so many charming friends in my internship in USA! My workmates are adorable people. As to the job duties, we did leisure travel arrangements, cruises, tours, independent packages, corporate travel-related sales. We also arranged their service - air, car, hotel reservations. I got to try a lot of hotels (for free!) because we "develop incoming leads and turn them into bookings". They also told me that I have potential to become a full-time consultant after the internship period. I am thrilled!

Working for an art gallery is my dream! And to do it in Paris is way beyond my expectations. Everyday, there are prepared different units of the gallery. And everyday there are some seemingly daunting tasks. But I am glad that my supervisors are mentoring me all throughout the process. I also did some research, printed some captions, worked with the marketing and creatives team. This internship gave me my dream and I would always cherish it. <3 I would like to give my sincerest thanks to the IGS group for this amazing adventure. Your programme opened doors for me to meet a lot of people and travelled different places.

I am glad to have completed my internship in the New Zealand. ppl there are happy all the time, and very encouraging to work for. My bosses are incredibly sweet and thoughtful. I was able to develop my interpersonal skills and skills in writing too. I guess, my visit to Milford Sound and Christchurch Gondola are the highlights of my trip. I only stayed there for 2 weeks, how I wish I extended it asap.

I worked as a Personal Assistant to Dr. David Adams of the Institute for Global Studies, and was given tasks like answering emails, drafting correspondences, and communicating with some interns. I saw the passion for work of the IGS staff and their efforts to assure that the interns are learning and enjoying in their dream destinations. It is a wonderful experience and a stellar addition to my resume. Dr. Adams gave me a great letter of recommendation and I was able to present it to my current employer. It is a huge factor in my hiring. :)

My major is actually Journalism, but the diving world really draws my attention that much. So, I took the plunge and tried this IGS internship program. What we did everyday was preparing gear for dives, conducting reef surveys and even website management to highlight threats to reef systems. My journ experience was also used, as I have created contents for the shop's website, also some SEO stuff, and some copywriting. Staff are always smiling, and Hawaii is extremely beautiful. How I wish I could spend eternity there.

In general, a Divemaster course will take on average anywhere between 6 weeks - 6 months to complete. Here, it took me 3.5 months. :) On mornings and afternoons, we assist visitors in their tours, coordinated with the other staff, did researches in the back office, and even did some marketing stuff when there are just few visitors. On days when no visitors are around, they teach me towards my PADI certification goal and really made time to orient me. Grateful for this beautiful opportunity. Serving dual purpose - enjoying and learning in the internship... also getting a certification. Insane.

Got the chance to work with local and foreign staff in Cebu, Philippines. Working in the dive shop got me an opportunity to meet diff kinds of people, so I get to learn their language also. Good thing Cebuanos are very fluent in English, I had no difficulty in understanding them. Among the many tourist destinations I went to, I think that taoist temple, tops lookout, and the whaleshark spotting are my top favorite adventures.

Baby koalas are too cute! Seminars are given before we started our work, which came in handy when we are presented with curious visitors. Koalas are very sleepy animals too! I learned a lot of interesting trivias abt them hehe. However, their numbers are on the decline, so I made it my personal advocacy to do whatever I can to help their specie.

The Institute for Global Studies internship has given me so much to think about (in a good way). The internship served as an eye-opener for me, to see things in a new way, and to reflect on my values as a person. I know it sounds cliche and weird, but it feels like I got my own retreat in itself. The koala sanctuary is very peaceful and it gave me time to think about a lot of my relationships LOL. I am super happy because this internship provided an avenue for me to express my self to others, broaden my network, and have community interaction and cultural immersion. Next time, I am thinking of doing some Ecotourism internship in South Africa. :)

The Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary taught me about koalas, their behavior, and their way of life. There are some misunderstandings along way, because I am not that fluent in English, but they are still nice too me. In the free time, I also got the chance to see amazing spots like Brisbane Botanic gardens coottha, and the very beautiful Queensland art Gallery & gallery of Modern art. Good thing to spend time.

Good program administration. From pre-departure advising, orientation, and support services, IGS covered everything smoothly. Dr. Adams guided me every step of the way. She even assured my mom as to my own safety and updated her almost every day. As to the internship program itself, the staff at the park are very friendly and accommodating to me. I had beers with them and even attended their Christmas party! Glad to be part of the team. And I look forward to coming back.

I am a fan of crocodiles ever since I was a kid, founding them very interesting. With this I aspire to be a crocodile scientist someday. I remember drawing crocodiles on our schoolboards using chalks, and being scolded by teachers for it. This internship made me realize that I can do it. Animal science/marine science has a lot to offer. It's a chance to mix profession and passion. I loved every single moment of it.

Thank you, IGS, for the great summer I had. Definitely one for the books. We did a lot of hiking tours. We have seen diff bird, woodlands, and reptiles exhibits. I didn't know this side of Australia and I am happy to discover it. For our internship, I joined with my friends, and we had lots of fun. We fed the animals and we were taught how to bathe them, and care for them. Aside from the learnings, what I am most grateful for is the bonding we had - me and my friends. We are all into wildlife and animal stuff, so we are glad to have this internship.

I am a 4th year medical student in Italy and this internship provided me the required clinical internship abroad for my studies. IGS coordinated with my university for the accreditation of the units and it was granted. I am grateful to Mr. Adams for being so accommodating and welcoming to my concerns. My IGS mentor, Dr. Sy, is very helpful as well. He guided me through the procedures and explained to me things that are too vague before.

In our botanical internship, I found great friends from Chile and Russia. We experienced daily life in Wellington, commuting to our workplace, living in the hotels, and traveling on weekends. My favorite trips we had was one weekend in Wellington and one weekend in Queenstown. Glad to have been a part of a happy bunch! Thanks IGS for arranging things for us, you are very organized and caring. Happy to be a part of this program.

We are placed at Wellington Botanical garden and the view is so magical. Truly happy that I found this gem/ internship. The NZ city is very vibrant and the atmosphere is really calm and chill. I wish I could shout but view is so serene I'm sure I will ruin it. My major is marketing but I am primarily interested in tourism so this internship is good to combine both my likes. Ciao!

I had the greatest 4 weeks of my summer in the Wellington garden! New Zealand is the perfect place for me, alongside Japan and Korea, so this is a very beautiful opportunity personally. people in NZ are cheerful. we learned about the operations of a botanical garden. the 25 hectares of specialized plant collections, colorful botanical displays, unique landscape, protected native forest, and views over Wellington City. I even saw a friend of mine visiting NZ and we bonded over snacks.

as an introvert who literally only likes museums and history, I am kinda stressed about being abroad and having to deal with a lot of people. but I am happy that my cointerns are great to hang out with and very considerate. on my internship, i saw the "real world" in museums, the background work, the research stresses, the people behind the presentations, the efforts to make everything aesthetically pleasing. super excited for the next batch of interns!

Shoutout to Miss Sharon! My IGS mentor in Manila, for the museum internship. She guided me all throughout my internship in the Philippines' National Museum and even toured me in the famous places there like the Rizal Park, Intramuros, Fort Santiago, and the Ocean Park!! The accommodation I got was very near the workplace and also near the city hall so I feel safe. Filipino people are nice and very welcoming to foreigners. I am blessed to have a mentor like Miss Sharon who even volunteered to give me a letter of recommendation! Hoping to be a curator like her, too.

Ever since I was a kid, I really have this burning passion for the environment and marine ecosystem, so when my mom knew about this internship she really took the time to message the IGS staff to accommodate me. luckily I passed the standards and screening of IGS and they assisted me in every way possible. i am grateful because I got to see hawaii in person and got to visit Haleakala National Park and the Waikiki beach. truly an amazing internship for me!

my internship in aquaculture is a good way to spare time. i am interested in this field and I took different internships abt it already. good thing that IGS also gives imtermship positions even to those who already graduated, not students anymore, like me. good people and good experience

Paris was a long shot. I didn't know I could qualify for an internship in one of the most romantic and historically-rich cities in the world. I was thrilled that the Institute for Global Studies gave me an opportunity to fulfill my dreams! As a museum intern, we are given orientations and are trusted to talk to some museum-goers to discuss with them some pieces of art there. I was also given some research work for papers and captions for their campaigns. Learned a lot!

I thought that living in Australia for this aquaculture internship would cost me so much. Glad to be proved wrong. I liked that there is a wide range of housing options, provided to me by Dr. Adams. The hotel has so many amenities too. I enjoy that it also has a pool for tenants and that they have nice showers. As to cost of living, it's fantastic. My college savings aren't totally used up. Good internship, over all.

We shared our English language skills and helped disabled persons help themselves by increasing their independence. On weekends, we do some trips too. And Koh Lipe. Chiang Mai, and Phuket are my ultimate favorites. :) Thank you IGS for a very interesting gap year! Thanks Dr. Adams and thanks to my mentor Miss Jia.

My placement is geared towards the care of disabled people in Thailand. Personally I was assigned as an administrative staff for physically disabled people. They cant walk since they are born. The facility is very supportive of them. We taught them how to speak English and created presentations for them. It is so fulfilling.

I took this internship as a school requirement. So we are asked to write a reflection paper about it.. to share our experiences and gained insights. At first, my goal is just to move out of the house. It was boring already and I needed some kind of distraction and some fun outside. In Australia, I saw beautiful streets, cultures, and citizens. And I was able to reflect too, on things I regret and choices I made in the past. Pretty dramatic, haha. Really happy I get this chance to learn about my chosen field of sports marketing, and also do some me-time.

My friends and I took a legal internship in Perth, upon some suggestions of our upperclassmen. We are given research work, case work, evidence work, and they even brought us to the court room. I amazed how our professional mentors are really making time for us -- you know, to guide us and listen to what we have to say. The city is glowing at night, too. This internship is very educational and memorable for me.

I am so happy that I took this internship!! I gained invaluable experience in disability services, specifically for those with issues in mental health. My patience was tested and my compassion too but it is well worth it. I can see them move on from a depressive episode and I am so proud of them. Making a lasting, positive impact on the lives of individuals with disabilities is pure bliss.

Found new friends there that boast that: Australia is a continent, a country, and an island! All in one! It is true though! Digital marketing is my jam - it is the perfect blend of business and psychology, which are both pretty damn interesting for me. This internship opened my eyes to newer perspectives, and widen my network all around the globe. Some of my fellow intern-mates are Asians and some Europeans. The land down under is a mesmerizing place ---- and for sure, I will go back!

My field is information technology or IT and I am assigned to a school in Argentina, a private school and big university where I worked with their IT team. Aside from the learnings ofcourse, they make me happy and smiling all time. I have my own workspace and desk and provided me with my own computer and equipment. I feel like I truly belong to the family.

Hello, guys. My name is Abhimanyu, a Pakistani, and I did an internship on youth programs in Argentina. I am fluent in English so I was able to utilize and take advantage of it by writing for columns and teaching some natives the language. Days are a little long because we had to do so much work,, but it is well worth it. My curriculum vitae is stunning and the letter of recommendation they gave me is an excellent attachment.

experience is just ok. the housing and accommodation are just good and average and fellow people are nice. Brazil is my home country so nothing new for me. job-wise learned just enough. still would recommend it.

My internship is about digital marketing where we are taught more about the basics of PPC and SEO. Aside from the technical knowledge and skill I had, the mindblowing part for me is the visits to cheese markets, wooden shoes, canals of Amsterdam, and masterpieces of Old Masters. My IGS mentor also promised me a letter of recommendation and I am so excited to apply what I learned. :D

when I think of the Netherlands, I used to think about EU or windmills something like that hehe. I don't have solid idea as to what it's like there. this internship made me realize there's so much more in the Netherlands. ppl are welcoming and cheerful. my workmates are easy to deal with. and the climate is awesome, not too hot, nor too cold.

Sharing my favorite quote about the environment: “The more clearly we can focus our attention on the wonders and realities of the universe about us, the less taste we shall have for destruction.” I volunteered for an NGO that focuses on ecological sustainability. We wrote some position papers, went to communities to educate people, and even travelled on weekends. I am grateful to the Institute for Global Studies for the great summer I had.

the cultural diversity in s. africa mesmerized me! very beautiful sceneries. that is the highlight of my trip. i was deployed in a photography internship -- like national geography... super adventurous and very fun! we were taught about some camouflage stuff and some tricks as to what we could do with our lenses to remain hidden from zoo animals. the geography is outstanding. i wish I could stay longer though.

im super happy that i belonged to an internship batch that liked having fun. our work schedule in the business field is around 10-6pm and after that we would go out to dinner and party some nights. the housing is near the central district so we are not afraid to go out at nights. we feel safe also because the housing provided has a guard outside and the landlady is very very much caring to us.

I initially wanted a finance internship in Singapore but my sister insisted on Brazil. I'm glad we took this internship together. What I really liked is that the mentors at work are engaging and kindhearted people. They genuinely wanted us to learn and see the accounting process step by step. We did rotations on the works there, pretty fun and challenging. Happy to be under your tutelage, Ms. Talia. By the way, I am a Finance major so this is totally helpful for me. Good work, IGS.

My sister and I went to the same internship in finance. Both of us are second-timers in Brazil; but unlike before that was primarily for leisure, this second one is so much for the brains. Mr. Adams really took the time to look for a wonderful housing for us, near our workplace, and it is just adorable. My Instagram feed is now bombarded with so much new photos and my sister and I bonded so much!

I've been to some internship as I hoard experiences and travel opportunities. can say that some intern programs are just meh, but this one is beyond average. looking forward to doing more internships maybe next time in southeast Asia or maybe in Latin America.

My internship is about wildlife rehabilitation and I opted to take it in South Africa. Wildlife is really my passion ever since I was a kid, and this a super cool way to start my journey and career path there. I am an incoming freshman in college and I took this internship to be more familiar with the field I am eyeing. And I just loved it! It is definitely a 10/10!

this is my first time abroad away from my family but I did not regret having dis experience. I had Spanish class in middle school and it was handy during my youth programs internship. we went to see diff places and visited some cultural areas in the countryside to talk about conservation and sustainability and how youth can actually help saving the environment. ppl are wonderful and very helpful to me. i never felt alone even tho I'm just new there. thanks to Dr. Adams for all the help, too. thanks, IGS!!!

I love Madrid especially at night time.... We visited the Prado museum and ate a lot of calamari sandwiches... My fellow interns, Sienna and Sy, are wonderful people!!! Thank you also for the letter of recommendation which I can present to my future employers... Heihei

Experience is nice and IGS people are nice to work with. My work mentors taught me great info on my field of restaurant management. Employees there are cheerful and smart, too. Overall, interesting memories I got there.

One of the many challenges of distance learning and online work is the data connection. My wifi connection sometimes do not cooperate but Im glad they understand. Im blessed to have such understanding workmates and they guided me all throughout the processes in web design. I am pretty experienced at this work but they still mentored me. Happy!

I was about to go to Australia for my business internship, but I had to do it virtually because of personal circumstances. I am happy that they gave me much welcome in my work and they are so helpful and understanding when I lost wifi connection at times. It was a blast. We recently had our Zoom Christmas party. Can\t wait to see all them in person.

I had one month of internship in the arts and photography sector. my friends and I went to Australia to have an internship before graduating and I'm happy we did some bonding here hehe. I was a little comfortable at first, thinking maybe it's a scam but good thing I was assured im safe. IGS rocks.

I find it that my purpose really is teaching kids so I messaged IGS to have this internship in Nepal. Nepal is my special request and luckily, it was granted. My former nanny is from Kathmandu so I really look forward to see her there. We had the chance to catch up on weekends. Going back, I taught English and Science in a private school downtown. The kids are lovely and very eager to learn. I saw myself when I was a child hehe.

thanks to my dad for allowing me to venture on this. I had my gap year in ecotourism and had the chance to work for an NGO that supports and takes care of ecotourism sites. my college degree is in tourism but i really had this passion and enthusiasm in the environment so it's practically a win-win for me. thanks Nepal for a great place

Capital of Dublin was designated a UNESCO City of Literature in 2010. Mr Adams and ms Mitchell placed me in a hotel and restaurant near the busy street of Dublin so day's always busy. but life there is peaceful and people are wonderful. not to mention they\re interesting too!!! i get to realize some stuff and did some self-reflection afterwards. nice experience. didn't know Ireland is a tourism giant, so many customers!

I had my theater internship in the capital city of Dublin. I got to work with co-actors from different continents and I also had a fellow intern with me. We share the same housing and we had a lot of joy and bonding times together. Thanks, Hannah. Thank you so much also to the Institute for Global Studies for setting this whole thing up. :)

COVID 19 made me take this virtual internship. I'm bored to death so I needed something to do and something to learn from. Happy that I did it tho. It was a full two weeks of learning more about graphic design for a company in Hawaii. It's a start up so basically I had to do things my way and not follow a template at all. It sparked my creativity and yeah Im pretty proud of what I did and will include that in my portfolio.

The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park is the highlight of my trip! This is not just a great internship for me, as a future women's rights lawyer, but also a feast for my heart. I am so overwhelmed with the beautiful Australia and the nice citizens. I will surely go back, in a year or two, and see what happens next.

I'm from Nepal and with the covid situation, my parents only allowed me to do my internship in Nepal too. I was deployed in a big financial company in the city and did some digital marketing there. I learned more about the art of persuasion and marketing techniques. The IGS mentor assigned to me, Ms. Frea, gives me reasonable tasks and guides me through it. I had to live in a dorm because our home was away from the city. It gave me some new perspective in life and it was nice to finally go out after some months of self - quarantine.

I had my gap year in Ireland and it was an adventure. On weekends, we visited The Cliffs of Moher, Grafton Street, Killarney National Park and Muckross House & Gardens, and my absolute favorite --- The Ring of Kerry!!! My co-interns are lovely and fun! I'm happy I took this plunge. Not just a career move, but I seriously had a great time.

it was a good internship. got an experience and taste of life as a young professional in a busy work environment on the field of commerce. were given tasks mainly on communications and adjusting entries. also got to assist the CEO on some important meetings he had on other parts of India. so there are some travelling done. mom saw this on internet and suggested I take this and good thing she did. found a gf in the internship. twas a great journey.

my college course is chemical engineering and I'm happy that I had the chance to work for a renowned chem laboratory in India.it is my first time in India as well so I got to see what they offer. i wen to some places in new delhi with my friends, India is a good place to explore, that's what I can say

Because of the covid pandemic, i was limited to only having India as my place of internship for my college. my field is business and I was assigned on a private corporation and get to work at their accounting department. at first it was boring for me but as time goes by, I gained new friends and realized it wasn't bad after all. i wish I can extend my internship more, but I had to start college already.

This is my first trip abroad. and it is for an internship on hospitality and tourism. I heard Mexico is a good place for such things and I'm right. I was assigned at the front desk of a hotel and the co-workers with me are nice and professional. I saw how they handled concerns, no matter how petty, with such grace and confidence. I aspire to be just like them.

Mexico is awesome. I had my internship on research and development. Mr. Adams is very helpful and responsive to my needs. My mentor Ms. Mitchell is great to work with. Next time I'll do another internship but maybe in another continent, I'm eyeing on Asia.

i and my co-interns are given work on research and digital marketing. we worked with a bunch of interesting people that are not just experts on their fields, but also fun to be with. after our long day, we eat out with officemates. our favorite place is in cocina eclectica in San Jose, capital city. i was there in the winter months of December and so we also participated in their christmas celebrations and exchange gifts. i love the traditions!

I am an aspiring attorney. Law is my ultimate passion and childhood dream, even. Henceforth, I asked the respectable Mr. Adams to look for a legal internship for me, which specifically concerns criminal defense. I am beyond grateful for the IGS staff and mentors that communicated with me. I am now more aware of legal concepts and terms. This is a strategic first step before I officially start my law school (hopefully in Harvard) in the next year.

Worked in one of the private schools in san jose as a tutor and teaching staff, teaching English and Spanish. my most delightful part is when we the students did a performance for us. they are so cute and very much participative. very active in sports too. I'm happy I took the plunge and did this internship

I only joined my friends in having an internship in Ecuador. I'm actually glad that I did it though. beautiful places and people. we get to work with diff people in their IT industry and they're good at their jobs. very dedicated too. they gave me a glowing letter of recommendation after the internship and I knew it'll help me very very soon

My main work in Ecuador is teaching students Spanish and English. It was a fruitful experience. My fellow interns are very happy people and I source my inspiration and strength from them. Weekends in Ecuador are awesome. We visited the Galápagos Islands, Quito: Ecuador's Historic Andean Capital, Cotopaxi and Cajas National Parks, and the Hot Springs of Baños. My internship in Digital Marketing also opened doors for me in knowing more about Google Ads and Search Engine Optimization. I'm planning to build a career on that.

Im a Vietnamese. I worked with a team of experts from the US and co-interns, some from Saudi some from Japan some from Malaysia some natives in US. I combined on-the-job training with practical application during internship period. Also, I interacted with locals and learned about the American way of life. Im astonished with the work culture in America, for real. But a great experience still!

In Hawaii, we did marine research on coral reefs, reef sharks, and spinner dolphins. Experience is good, I wish we had more time exploring the cities though. Also, I would like to bring my friends next time.

The Japan internship is an eye-catching detail for my employers hehe

At 25 years old, I got to connect with professionals and experts in the field of communications. I also made new friends with other interns from around the world. On weekends, we enjoyed activities like visiting shrines, joining festivals, exploring urban neighborhoods, and sampling Japanese food. No age limit in exploration, indeed.

For my internship, I worked for an international organization to handle their Paris-bound clients. It’s an international NGO and supports causes on human rights and anti-child trafficking. We were also gven tasks on digital marketing. A learning experience for me. This is a dream come true for me. I didn’t think it was possible, since covid happened and there are massive travel restrctions. But im glad that igs reassured me that im well taken care of. On weekends, we went to seaside resorts of the côte d'azur, France. Wonderful scenery. As a romantic I greatly enjoyed the fairy-tale castles and old cathedrals.. we went to see eifell, the louvre museum, fell in love with France over and over again

my co-inters are a good to work with. Experience is just ok but its nice to do these things once in a while. Tnx to igs for a good placement. they reply asap and answer to my concerns via videochat. I met ppl of diff backgroundz and nice cultures.

For track two, ms. shiela assigned us to cover politics for a community newspaper. Was able to interview a Filipino politician about his stand on divorce. Honestly I don’t agree but i respect everyones opinions. also covered a protest in manila's town centre. Philippines is a great country to visit nevertheless.

I am grateful for this internship. I was assigned on Track One, and I worked for a political advocacy group. I am very particular about women’s rights and human rights in general so I was very excited to work with NGOs that support those causes. We were tasked to draft bills and witness some assemblies. I wanna be government official one day so this is a great start.

Im an aspiring lawyer from the Philippines and I wanted to do law internships and immense myself in the fields of business and personal injury law. I was given a placement in Chicago and it was a lovely experience. I wrote it on my blog and featured it on my YouTube vlogs. I hope you can check it out!!

I did a business and marketing internship. Learned new skills and softwares for business and digital marketing. My favourite one is the tools for Facebook ads especially the Hootsuite and the Trello for team collaborations. I never knew these things existed. I got to walk at the Shibuya crossing everyday and I loved my one month there.

Im very much interested in the arts and scents too so I chose to work at the Perfume Museum. I shared the history of scent with visitors. We had trainings and orientations before deployment. The employees are very hospitable and particularly helpful to me. We are also given tips on choosing scents and other skills that I might need once I go to college. Happy with these.

Kudos to IGS for a great summer! We were assigned to a local dive resort in beqa islands, assisted clients on dive trips and work on some graphics and emails to promote tours. the fire walkers are so cool!!!

We taught adorable children and lived in a Fijian village. As a native English speaker, it was easy for me to teach them basic English words. But the most challenging for me was making some kids calm down after they had tantrums. It was still a great experience. The school treated us as own employees, own teachers. Seems a like a new life for me

Fiji’s beaches are the real deal! For my marine research internship, we worked under a world-renowned reef ecologist and did researches on MPA’s (marine protected areas). We were given trainings before our actual work so everything was smooth. Every detail was well thought off. Im glad I put my savings into this memorable experience.

As a vetmed student, we went to a small town in the North to assist at a clinic. We did animal prep, surgery recovery, and basic administration. We assisted on emergency operations and it was such a big adrenaline rush! Finally, more hands on experience and not just meh theories.

We worked on a Kurdish advocacy organization and conducted original research on Kurdish contributions to Great Britain. Also interviewed people and covered current events. England really homes beautiful people, #iykwim

Well, Mr. Adams is very helpful to me in getting my dream internship. His instructions are always clear and I had no problem with reaching him throughout the internship. He always checks up on me and my IGS mentor in Thailand. My internship was in media and got a chance to write news for an English language publication. Stellar times

My fave part of the trip are the weekend trips with my co-interns. I wanna say hello to Megan and Lee who are very nice to me. We went around and discovered Thailand’s cuisine. I noticed they’re more on spicy foods.. I can’t wait to blog about them when I come back home.

My friends and I chose the London proper for our internship. We helped on Facebook ads campaign for an international client. Digital marketing is booming nowadays and this is the best chance for me to start my career on that field. The IGS mentor assigned to me was lovely. The sight of Big ben everyday is awesoooommmeeee

Having the opportunity to be in a newly industrialized economy is great. My field is ecotourism and it was lovely. When IGS said that they have connected students with organizations across several fields and industries, they’re telling the truth. Thailand has historic temples and amazing beaches. I had a great tan, too! *wink

We worked in the IT field in Hawaii and worked with a very respected IT team. Hawaii’s culture is always happy and people are very hospitable. My fellow interns are diverse. Some are from Hawaii itself, some from US, and some from Japan. I like that I get to meet people with the same ideas as me. Wanna say thanks to the IGS team for making this happen. My introverted self was able to adjust and it will always be something I would cherish. Kudos!

We had an excursion to the eruption sites of Big Island and Volcanoes National Park. My main fields of interest are arts and archaeology so this is so overwhelming for me. Only downside is that I wanted the internship to be longer. I could have stayed much longer. It was full of fun and great people.

The Institute for Global Studies confirmed me at one of the top intellectual property law firms in Paris, France. I really enjoyed using a foreign language in the workplace and being a part of an all-female staff. There were moments of high stress, but also high rewards. This is the first big step on my path to becoming a lawyer.

I completed a business law internship under IGS with firm in Chicago. I had a great experience and the staff was top notch. The research I performed for the firm was used in several important cases. It was rewarding seeing my hard work used in the real world.

I had an internship with coral reef research with top scientists. Dr. Adams is very approachable and eager to help us have our dream placements. I’m really happy I gave this a try. Thanks to IGS and all its staff. Hawaii is amazing!

I thought it would be a longshot to get confirmed at a Costa Rica-based attorney. The staff at the IGS found me a place in downtown San Jose. Great job! Experience is wonderful. My co-interns are very helpful and sweet. Can't wait to see them again after this pandemic.

So, during coronavirus pandemic I have fulfill one of my biggest dream. I have visited Europe, yet, it was arduous to do. My journey started almost a year ago, I met my boyfriend who is the citizen of the Netherlands. We have been doing ling-distance relationship for 6 month already. We have been struggled with pandemic and rebooking our holidays in Turkey. BUT! The government of the Netherlands are the best! They have maid a special law for the couples. During September/October I maid a decision to visit my boyfriend and his family in Zoetermeer. From the one hand I have met the love of my life and fall in love more and from the other I have fall in love to the best country in the world - Netherlands. From the day I left I want to go back and I will!

This IGS internship is a blessing in disguise. I had a lot of family problems this year; so I decided to have some time alone and so decided to apply for IGS. I have little background on veterinary medicine but I aspire to be a veterinarian soon. We assisted with taking vital statistics of the animals, and fed them, and even bathed some of them. The calming atmosphere is so refreshing and it made me rethink my life perspective. All I can say is I am a lot happier now, and I am now on my first year of Vet Med.

I have years of Graphic Design experience, but I never really paid much attention to Pay-per-click (PPC) advertising, Search engine optimization (SEO), and Blog writing, which are kinda related to my field. In my internship in Spain, we are opened to these fields and are encouraged to try and see for ourselves our strengths on those areas. I would say that for PPC, I rate myself as 9/10; for SEO, 8/10; and blog, 7.5/10. Not bad. Thanks, IGS, for letting us explore the world of our chosen fields, and those connected thereto.

My co-interns are the sweetest! This competitive field is filled with not just witty, but kindest persons! I wanna say hello to Gilda, Marielle, and Patrick – my co-interns, who are so funny and lovable. We bonded a lot during our beach trips. They even sent me flowers last week because it’s my birthday. Thank you very much to IGS for this life-long friendship!

Events planning and photography were two of the things I love to do in the world; but because of “matters of consequences”, I was not able to do them most of the time. I neglected these passions I had, because I was too busy on other things. Luckily, my internship in Spain made me fell in love with them again. I know only basic Spanish, so these tasks are the perfect ones assigned to me. Right now, I just bought a new camera to rekindle this fire inside me. Thank you, IGS. You made me rediscover myself.

To tell u honestly i would suggest this to everyone My regular duties and responsibilities as a finance intern are generating and entering data, preparing statements, analyzing reports, and taking notes during meetings..... One of the meetings to which we are allowed to sit in include a Japanese government official and Japanese policies..... I am amazed how well-versed business people are....... They are not just good at numbers, they are also good in speaking Nihonggo!

Honestly, it was a little boring to me at first. We assisted the club CEO with daily operational duties, and perform a variety of human resources duties. Little did I know that that was just a warm-up. The adventure was just about to come. We are given seminars and practical exercises to learn business models, as well as field skills. We are even pitted against each other (in a lot of friendly games), and our competitive spirits are on the rise.

I always thought that intern-ing in Fiji would be very challenging to me. I have little knowledge about the country and I did not even know that they speak English there. I only knew about that when I lived with the families there. English is the primary language of instruction in schools and most villagers can converse in the language. It was helpful for me because English is the only language I know.

am grateful for my IGS mentor for being the best mentor I could think of. He always checks up on me and explains me the tasks thoroughly before letting me dive into the action. was assigned to do social media strategies to reach out to possible clients. also connected with local hostels for possible partnerships. Now, I have a great list of hostels which I could use when I bring my friends here next time.

I had the chance to do an internship for archeology and I enjoyed every minute of it! During the internship, I volunteered to do administrative tasks and reports on historical research. We are also encouraged to attend staff and planning meetings. I feel like I am really an archaeologist already! Even though it would take me three years more.

As a Social Media influencer, I wanted to expand my knowledge on how to use my platform to promote better causes and even expand my network. With this internship, I gained more knowledge on social media marketing and even graphic design for my future posts. I also got to work for major sports teams, ecotourism companies, and go to other exciting venues, which I vlogged about. My YouTube channel’s following enhanced because of that. My IGS mentor encouraged my on-the-ground participation on more complex tasks like events planning. We coordinated for a staff party and I was so amazed how I could be so creative and efficient! My fellow interns are so imaginative and resourceful too. Aside from their staff party, we were also involved in their staff seminars and meetings; and it made us feel a sense of belongingness. I feel like I am a part of the family. Thank you to the kind hotel staff, superiors, and of course, too IGS!

As an IT student, this internship was perfect for me. I get to learn more about computer systems from a different country, and get to travel also! It was hitting two birds with one stone. This was my first time to leave my country; hence, I was nervous to go at first. Yet, IGS assured me that I am well taken care of, and that they will help me attain my fullest potential. IGS fulfilled their promise, and I thank them for that.

My IGS mentor was very helpful to me. She always checked up on me and was really concerned about what I could learn in my internship. She was also very cheerful and accommodating. Even though I am introvert in an entirely different country, I never felt like I was alone. Thank you very much, IGS, for providing outstanding mentors. My fellow interns and I did both on-air and behind-the-scene positions that are great additions to our résumés. This is especially helpful to me, as I consider working in the field of Marketing in the near future. They even assured me that I will receive a Letter of Recommendation upon successful program completion. Yay!

I have no solid background in wildlife rehab, but I have always found it interesting ever since I was a kid. Applying to this internship is the best thing I did to jumpstart my career here. We are tasked to learn about rehab, to do medical assistance, and to accomplish community outreach programs. This experience would surely grow one’s skills exponentially. I have zero experience on this, but I am sure I am so much ahead of those who are studying it only by the books, The hands-on experience, indeed, is so much better.

Well yeah.. I am an aspiring artist who wants to see as many inspirations as possible. I am still finding my style in doing art, but I sure as hell love writing. So while we are being taught on museum set ups and galleries, we are also given a chance to express our writing prowess by writing for the museum’s website. Also, our millennial skills are put to good use by focusing on their social media outreach. I love every bit of it.

I love that we maintain a flexible work schedule and are given the opportunities to take on job responsibilities outside of our job description. My cooking skills are put to good use when we cooked for the children and facilitated a “tutoring and feeding program” for them. I am glad that my years of cooking experience did not fail me and managed to help me in these times. IGS stayed true to its brand that “Meaningful travel starts here”!

I voluntarily gave this program review because I REALLY LIKED this internship program!!! Conservation Biology is one of my interests, but I never knew where I could get the best internship possible. We are assigned to our chosen destinations and even talked to respected experts in the community. My co-interns came from such interesting backgrounds and are fun to be with – one of them is a doctor, one is an Economics student, two are a couple, and one is a travel vlogger. Thanks to my college senior who told me about this program. You guys should definitely try this internship!

Religious work, Anthropology, and Philosophy are very appealing to me. I got to study Buddhist principles and practice the dharma. I lived with the monks and my co-interns in a very safe space as prepared by IGS. The calming atmosphere was very refreshing for me, since my hometown was a very crowded and loud city. I gained more confidence and faith in practicing Buddhism.

What I loved about our internship, is the post-surgery work that includes rehabilitation and integrating animals back to their families. I can see how happy these animals are when they are reunited with their family... It makes my heart melt hihi. Ms. Foyer was my mentor and she was like a mom to me. I never felt alone in this entirely different country. My fellow interns are like my sisters and brothers, and always willing to extend a helping hand when I need one. Thanks guys!

in my internship with IGS, I assisted with anesthetics, surgical scrubbing, and other technical procedures..... we are given fun lectures and on-hand experiences on animal rearing, husbandry, breeding, and product development........ the scope of veterinary medicine is extensive, as it covers domesticated and wild animals...... i am happy that I took this internship....... my friends already signed up for next summer.....

We are asked about a specific cause or passion that we are interested on, and I chose environmental conservation. IGS then assigned us on the graphic design department of a company engaged on such field. My main duties include visual communication and problem-solving through typography and iconography. Sometimes, we do some analysis of client needs, and present them with the team. The only downside I can see is that the duration is short; it was so fulfilling, that I would have wanted it to extend to a few more months.

I was placed with a leading company in Japan, specializing in graphic design. My amazement with the Japanese culture and their graphic designs are heightened by this internship. I did not only taste the authentic ramens of Japan, but I also saw their latest technologies and softwares on graphic design. Usually, these softwares are expensive; but here, we are allowed to use them and are even trained for it. ありがとうございました! Arigatōgozaimashita!

In the second track of the advertising program, we are placed in a particular field of interest. I signed up for social services, and I was deployed to a social service organization’s advertising and marketing department. It was ideal for me because I get to do what I like to do, and also gain enough advertising skills. I am grateful to my mentor, Mr. Johnson, for the guidance. It was an honor to be under your tutelage. You explain so calmly and effectively, and helped us develop relevant skills, helping us prepare for a job and career in this field.

our sponsors in the advertising agency are actually big businesses wishing to promote their products and services,, what I learned and what they consistently reminded us is “You have to trust your brand, for you to effectively market it.” i assisted in making a total of five ads, for this short stint, and these are amazing additions to my portfolio. i am sure if my employers would see my resume, my internship in IGS would play a big role in my signing of employment contract.

As a Mass Communication Student, this internship was the perfect fit for me. I volunteered to calling businesses for potential partnerships, conducting interviews to some artists and callers, and some marketing on their social media platform. My LinkedIn account looks so much better now; thanks to the skillset I acquired and the jobs they let me experience. My friends are quite jealous of what I accomplished this summer.

Per my preference, I was designated to help a non-traditional station, an independent station featuring local artists and under-represented communities. In their interviews, the artists made their political stands through lyrics of their songs; and some of the composers even explain the struggles they face that they want the listeners to understand and take action on. My internship was meaningful. It is as if I could cry any moment.

Aside from the hands-on experience we are acquiring, I treasure the friendships I gained along the way. We did a lot of weekend trips and excursions, and discovered the cultures and traditions of Auckland. Two important components of this internship are being open to experiences and being positive all the time. Our IGS mentors always encouraged us to enjoy the learning process of life and finance. Some of them even gave love advices! It was fun looking back what we did on our days off.

During my intern-ing, we are given assemblies on how to run a small to mid-sized business. We are also trained to analyze financial data, create reports, and manage the database. I learned a lot of new tips and tricks on Microsoft Excel!

Tennis is my everything. I have been trained by my dad since I was 5. And this internship was probably one of the best decisions I did for my tennis career. I met like-minded people, who share the same passion for tennis just as I do. In fact, we plan to watch the Grand Slam Tournaments next year. I never knew I could expand my network this much, and would even include great Tennis players all over the world. Kudos!

In my internship, I gained understanding of the structure of an organization, from the Club President to the ball boy. We are tasked to observe and even experience all the roles in the Club, and even made small decisions that would make large impacts. It was not obvious at first, but they are explained to us later on. I hate to spoil you on this, but it is mind-blowing. That trained our critical - thinking and decision-making skills. Thanks, IGS. Mind blown!

This internship is a great way to explore my passion while learning the business side of things. I have always identified myself as a “wanderlust”. Here, we are reminded to do responsible travelling to natural areas, in an effort to conserve the environment and sustain the well-being of the local people. We did a lot of marketing trips and seminars. It would be particularly helpful since I plan to take up Marketing in college.

I was assigned in Cancun, Mexico, and promoted whale shark tours and accompanied clients. I learned the importance of building environmental and cultural awareness and respect; and providing positive experiences for visitors. I will never forget them. Not to mention that my fellow interns are just so wonderful! One of them was training for the beauty pageant Miss Earth, which is an international environmental-themed competition. She said that is a great way to know more about environmental conservation. Well, I am sure it is. Good luck to her..

it was a new knowledge for me to know how to catalog artifacts.. we did a lot of research and digging and interviewing.. the experts we met on the field are very helpful to us.. cared for us like we are babies.. For me, the experience is okay. I would recommend it to my friends.

Thank you, IGS, for this wonderful experience. It was actually a surprise that I liked it so much. My expectations were low, but you exceeded them a million times! The accommodation is superb, and my co-interns too! We did a lot of research and actual digging, and we had to hike to get to the excavation site. It was not boring at all, because my co-interns are so silly and making jokes the whole time.

For my track, I worked with a traditional company who wants to expand their social media presence in-house. We oversee their social media updates and discuss on how to improve the company's online presence. The working atmosphere is calm and very accommodating. They are so patient in mentoring us... In the process, we also conducted market analysis and did some interviews on the locals. I never knew my grade school subject of Mandarin could be so handy!

Working in Paris was a dream come true! I got to see the Eiffel Tower during our free days and sip our coffees on world-famous cafés there. Also, my IGS mentor was very approachable and appreciative. He gave us a Letter of Recommendation upon successful program completion. I super duper enjoyed my stay there. Can’t wait to be back! Thank you very much to IGS and to my IGS mentor, Mr. Kline.

I needed another internship for my college resume and I am glad to have read about IGS at such a perfect time. This internship was one of a kind, I could say. For the job, we carried out Marketing duties for the resort. It was fascinating that they shared us effective marketing strategies and techniques. And for the networking, my co-interns are wonderful. They came from different parts of the world and we were happy to share our cultures while we explore our host country. Love the expi!

What I appreciate in my short stint as an intern was that we were assigned to different departments and duties. Personally, I particularly enjoyed handling front desk duties and check-ins. I was able to witness real-life situations wherein some customers are very difficult to attend to; but my superiors showed me how they professionally handled them. It was inspiring to see how calm and smiling they are all the time. IGS helps interns determine whether they have the right personality for tourism and hospitality – and now I’m sure I am perfect and ready for this career!

Well, I was an intern on the second track, where we worked for smaller professional organizations, and I was assigned to an organization that caters to ecotourism and environmental conservation. We are assigned to their IT department and assisted them in all the functions that allow them to effectually communicate with their clients. My desired country for this internship was Hawaii, and it was fulfilled!!!! I wish I could go on an internship again, but in a different country next time. Looking forward to it! Please accept me again, IGS :)

Information Systems, Technology, Computer Science, and Business are my main fields of interest. In my recently-concluded internship with IGS, I acquired valuable real-world experiences, not just book theories.. IGS realy prepared us 4 the actual practice of IT, considering that we also received a Letter of Recommendation upon successful program completion. Thank you very much, IGS. I am eternally grateful.

IM SO HAPPY I TOOK THIS INTERNSHIP HUHU As a multimedia intern, I am glad to learn new production techniques using the latest editing softwares and methods. Usually, the latest softwares come at a very expensive price; but here, I learned it FOR FREE! We were also able to work with a team of respected media experts. They gave us career advising, which really inspired me to do better and be just like them in the future :)

My favourite part of the internship is developing rapport with my co-interns,, I broadened my global network, experienced field filming, and at the same time enjoyed and went on trips in our host city,, I will remember it for the rest of my life, for sure,,

The most memorable part of the internship was getting to see more of Brisbane during our time off. My co-interns are very friendly and intelligent! I went to Brisbane five years ago, but this time is so much better. I explored areas I never knew existed and I discovered life-long friendships with my fellow interns. Shout out to Janna and Louis, who I met through IGS. It was a wonderful time with you, and you are wonderful people. Shout out also to IGS, who is very supportive to us since day one. Your mentors are amazing and this experience you have given us is one of a kind.

This is the best summer internship I had! I am a veterinary medicine student, and here, we have gone through intensive training to learn the basics of animal care in just a few days. The training lessons are concise yet comprehensive. We are given different responsibilities and luckily converse with people who are visitors in the sanctuaries. My vetmed friends are to apply in this venture next month! I would love to go with them again! Crossed fingersssss

During my short experience in the Art and Culture Program of IGS, I was tasked to conduct interviews in the community and record their responses in an organized scheme. I have the very rare opportunity to interact with a local community to gain insight into their culture. My IGS mentor consistently reminded me to enjoy the process and open myself to different perspectives, because of the culture differences. I took his advice, and I am proud to have successfully completed this internship! Can’t wait to have another one, but on a different region, maybe Southeast Asia, next time.

The educational facility to which we were assigned to, treated us like their own employed teachers. They asked us about our opinions and original ideas on how to best help the children. It was particularly helpful for me as a future educator, because my critical thinking skills are tested. I also discovered the art of communicating with people of different cultures, since my fellow interns are from different continents and from all walks of life.

What I enjoyed the most during my internship was when I helped plan the children’s field trip in the home of their national hero. We supervised the children on the excursions and made sure that they learn about the hero’s brave acts and heroic life. In the process, I also learned how to be more patient with kids and the importance of “buddy system” for kids not to be lost. It was very challenging but I really really enjoyed spending time with these cute kids.

I know only a little about Conservation Biology and I only joined because my friends joined here. Little did I know that I will have the best summer internship of my life. My friends and I now have this life-long bond we will always cherish. I learned a lot about biodiversity and resource management, more than I can ever learn in school. Thank you, IGS.

My personal advocacy is to have an impact in protecting species, their habitats, and ecosystems from extinction and erosion. This internship was a great avenue for me to fulfil my mission. We helped maintain and implement conservation actions and deal with the stakeholders via assemblies. My mentor was also very helpful and inspiring. I even included her in the Character reference of my resume. She was thrilled when I told her. Hehe

After we finished our training, we are appointed to different research locations.... As far as I know, some were assigned to the Taveuni Island and some were in Beqa Island... As an advocate of the protection and conservation of coral reefs, I so love the tasks designated to us. Also, we lived with a very sweet Fijian family, that taught us about their lovely culture and stunning traditions... My Social Science teacher would be super proud of me for having this kind of immersion....

IGS prepared our accommodation at the South Seas Hostel and we had to commute a short distance to the training site. I don’t mind the commuting time though because that was actually the best time to explore the city and visit botanical gardens and cultural museums. There are plenty of them near our hostel that we sometimes forget to go home before dinner time!

My dad encouraged me to see for myself the beauty of Buddhism. I was very nervous at first. I did not know what to expect from this Monastery Stay. I realized that the lamas and monks are very welcoming to the foreign visitors. They counselled us, cooked for us, and even learned world geography from us. The monks and nuns are also available for private advising. It was an experience I will never forget. Thanks, Dad. This time you are right.

This internship is so cool! This is not about the boring stuff in museums. We got to see real-life relicts and actual people who have own testimonies on them. This is cooler than National Geographic, TBH.. My co-interns are also too amazing. We spent our free time exploring our host city and nearby destinations. I am in love with Buenos Aires. If I had known it earlier, I would have taken this internship years ago.

The monastery has an extensive book, audio, and video libraries. They have varied collections of periodicals, films, and music, for people to experience. The books that made sense to me are “The Heart of the Buddha’s Teaching” by Hanh, and “Zen Mind, Beginner’s Mind” by Suzuki. It was so cool because I only saw libraries of that kind from movies. Now I get to appreciate them in real life!

As a freshman VetMed student, this internship was a great overview of the whole VetMed course. We had up close and personal look at different aspects of the practice, and I super enjoyed animal surgery. It was also initially a “testing the waters” experience for me, to determine if I really wanted to be a veterinarian. Since we are exposed to real-world issues and concerns of pet and animal-lovers, I realized that I share the same care on the animals as their owners. I am sure now that I am born for this profession!

I have always been drawn to Graphic Design ever since I was 10. I am 18 now. My 8 years of passion on Graphic Design was put to use by award-winning firms in my host country. My favourite part of this internship is when we are tasked to design a poster about environmental awareness, and are encouraged to explain about our designs later on. I felt like my voice was being heard for the first time; because usually, the audience only look at the contents and aesthetics, but never the message that the graphic designer want to impart. I am so glad that my parents allowed me to do this internship. May you help more people.

We are assigned to different radio stations, and are given a chance to be on-air for the advertisement parts. My voice was not in its best condition at that time, but I am super duper thankful that they gave me another chance. Aside from on-air work, we are also tasked to do some editing, writing, and calling businesses. I discovered that this career path is what I am destined to do.

Since I am a business major, I found this finance internship a piece of gem. We worked with a range of clients from all over the world. I was assigned as an associate to a prominent financial planner in Paris, and I loved her so much! She gladly accepted my proposal to include her in my Character Reference, and I am in awe on how immediate she approves of it. She even gave me a tour of Paris on our days-off. I am forever grateful, IGS!

Coach Lastimosa is my idol. The seminar and personal testimonies he gave us inspired me to do better in my training and studies. This field focuses directly on sports and recreation. And I know that this is where I am good at. Many different topics are incorporated into sport management such as administration, and even finance. I can’t wait to be just like Coach Lastimosa

As a traveller, this eco-tourism field is the most interesting for me. It was my first time in Sydney, Australia, and I was assigned to a high-end wine gallery, as an assistant guide on daily tours. The chief guide also gave me an opportunity to do away from his shadow and to lead some tours. IGS, you rock!

All I can attest to is that this internship is intensive. We experienced all forms of research - from the actual dig to reading into libraries to interviewing residents near the area. Archeology is my current Minor in college, and these exhaustive works excite me much. Some people see archeological digging as “dirty” but no, it’s not! Discovering an artifact and studying the ancient human past through material remains are so much more interesting than lying around and being “clean”.

I just started my online business and I saw the need to be an expert on Social Media Marketing. I knew I made the right decision of taking this learning opportunity with IGS. The companies to where we are deployed are specialists from different fields. I chose the first track which is to work with a designated social media company that contracts out to businesses to create online marketing presence for them. I operated closely with experts and got to learn how to use the latest strategies to help their clients in expanding their audience. I am currently applying these approaches to my growing online business!

I took my internship in Australia and it was crazy (in a good way)! It was super fun bonding with my co-interns and hotel staff. I am still friends with them until now. We talk via Viber and WeChat during weekends. I also met my boyfriend there, so it was an experience I will never forget!

Working with Mr. Smith was the most remarkable experience for me. I never knew my dream to be an associate of a top robotics firm would come true! The housing, setup, airport pickup, pre-trip reader, and office support are all provided by IGS, which makes our lives hassle-free. All we need to think about is how to enjoy and learn from our internship.

I am grateful for IGS that I gained hands-on experience in the news and entertainment industry. I particularly enjoyed doing backstory research – it sparks up my creativity by crafting history for characters and plots!

My introvert self was glad to contribute to the museum’s vast list of resources by conducting research on life histories and historical events connecting to various pieces of art. We did some online research and library visits. This working behind the scenes is totally fine with me. I am actually grateful that I get to do what I love, without the stress of talking to a lot of different people.

During my internship with IGS, I was assigned to create reading programs and scripts that are tailored to the needs of the children. My grandmom used to tell me a short story about three ducks, and I used that as main characters in my scripts. The kids loved it! It feels like home away from home. I cannot wait to tell my other co-teachers about this program. I am sure they’ll love it as much as I did.

As a Family Life and Child Development Major, this internship made us involved in traditional day-care settings, educating and taking care of cute children ages three to six. We facilitate all aspects of the students’ day and act as their second moms. I was attached to one of the students, named Katy, and she was even crying when we have to leave. After the IGS internship, Katy’s mom and I became friends on social media and Katy and I usually do videochats once a week. What a charming kid!

I am an atheist who is still confused about my stand on gods and religious practices. That’s why I took the time to participate in this trip – because I wanted to see the Buddhist practices myself. The internship placement took place at a monastery in Boudhanath, Nepal. We apprenticed under a world-renowned Tibetan monk and leader. He was very supportive and accommodating to us. Now, I am on to still exploring the other religions, but I sure learned how important it is to seek to reach a state of “Nirvana”, following the path of the Buddha.

Just a quick review of the vet med program of IGS – it is worth it guys. You should try it out. Made friends here, and we did a lot of fun stuff. Great work to the IGS team. Legendary, as Barney says in American series.

The most interesting part of my internship, aside from learning graphics design, is exploring the wonders of my host country. This is my first time to visit Thailand, but I’ve been to other Asian countries before. I never knew that their streets are so colourful at night, and their markets are very crowded. I like their food also, since I am a fan of spicy foods. The weather though is a little hot, and I had my tan ahead of my beach trip.

I did a lot of advertising internships already, because I wanted to construct a strong profile. And I could say that this probably is the best internship I’ve had. The accommodation, mentors, and supplemental seminars are very well thought-of. It feels like we are on a vacation, when in fact, our primary purpose here is to learn! Next year, I plan to do an internship in IGS again. But I think of Paris for my second time.

Admittedly, it was a fast-paced environment. Well, no doubt, because the team is composed of high-profile and competitive individuals. I chose Track One, where I was assigned to a traditional advertising firm. They taught us the brainstorming processes and professional strategies of advertising itself. We are taught of the principles of visual consistency, campaign duration, and repeated taglines. I knew I will encounter them again once I start college as an Advertising major. It was an advance lesson for me. Thank you, IGS.

I was really hesitating to join this internship program; not because I am shy, but because I am afraid that it is a scam. I am thankful to have given it a try! It was legitimate and it was so fulfilling. Upon deployment, I saw how the invited experts and the IGS mentors conversed, and I saw the long history of their good collaborations prior to our arrival. With IGS, I met beautiful and passionate people, who could be the next Oprah or Ellen! It was a stunning experience.

My co-interns and I are given hands-on responsibilities in a real work setting. My accounting background was quite useful here, but my fellow interns who are just new to this are also able to cope up. Working for a large financial firm will surely be an edge when I apply for another job later this year.

I am a Filipino student of Sports Science from the University of the Philippines; and this internship is the best summer I had. We were assigned tasks in top-rate athletic clubs for our sports of choice (football for me). We are given thorough introduction to the ins-and-outs of sports management. Partying with my fellow interns is also a memorable experience for me. We still talk even up to this time.

My mom and I are thrilled to know that I was accepted in this internship program. She was the one who gave me an idea about IGS, which she learned from her colleague. I was deployed to a leading kayak tour company in Thailand. We are toured in the John Gray's Hong in Phang Nga Bay where we discovered the caves and lagoons through sea kayaking excursion. We paddled our way around Koh Phanak and Hong Island, made flower ‘Krathong’, and watched the sunset from the boat. It was a magical experience.

It was my first time to go out of my country, and it was remarkable. In my IGS internship, we worked with well-known university researchers, and are assigned both field and laboratory works. I was personally delegated to conduct research on historical events and collect the oral histories of the area. I used to read in my textbooks that the oldest traces of human presence in Quito were excavated by my favourite American archaeologist Robert Bell in 1960, on the slopes of the Ilaló volcano. I can’t believe I’m doing the same things he used to do, and on the same place!

I needed an internship for my resume, since I aspire to be a full-time social media marketer. This idea of applying to an IGS internship was brought to me by my friend, who is also working in the field. I am grateful that he opened this up to me. IGS placed us on big companies that are with effective and already-established practices for interns. During my stint, I was made to do three social media marketing content and strategies. These are now included in my online portfolio, which would be seen by my potential clients. Knowing that I did my internship globally would surely increase my chance of landing the job.

More than just practical experience, the best part for me was the opportunity to take on a paid position. I get to earn salaries and buy the things I could not spend on when I was still a student. It gives me a sense of freedom and independence. There is a high turnover in this field, so our superiors guaranteed us that hardworking students can earn employment if we continued working effectively and efficiently.

During my IGS internship, we learned about computer softwares and hardwares – my main interests and passions! I also acquired additional knowledge on data constructs and communication strategies - great additions to my stock knowledge. I was under the first track for the interns and we solved the IT needs of large businesses and firms. It was challenging at the start but I liked that we survived it anyway. My inner computer nerd was jumping for joy!

Honestly, I’ve been interested in working closely with leading producers and on-air talents, and this is the best fit for me! My experience in film and editing was helpful, but my other colleagues who were not that experienced still had a great time. There are so many multimedia opportunities provided to us. Thank you, IGS!

As a diver, I was happy to be assigned at a shelter for sea turtles in my internship. Aside from bonding with the animals, I gain understanding of the local communities and their interactions with wildlife there. We did food preparation and checking in animals, which I truly enjoyed. Next time, I would apply for the Reef Protection program of IGS. I hope that they still accept my application.

Wildlife rehabilitation is my jam. I worked with a lot of rehab in my locality, but with this IGS internship, I get to have a work experience from an international context. I still can’t believe I got the chance to work with injured animals from the Amazon rainforest. Connecting with them and learning more about first aids are what made me appreciate this program more. In addition to that, my fellow interns are just as passionate as I am. This is enjoying with a purpose!

This is my first time to take an internship abroad, and I am grateful for the opportunity! I have always been interested in anthropology and the arts, and this is the best programme I researched about. We are placed in some of the world’s most fascinating museums. Some of us are designated on working on the floor as a curator while some are on the office, conducting research and marketing. In our job, we assisted the docent in the setup of galleries and exhibits. I am happy doing the backdrops and placing the exhibits. Upon opening of the museum, we are asked to share our knowledge with the visitors. My fear for public speaking was not at all obvious, because I am talking about something I really find interest in.

I am really proud to be a part of this initiative. IGS works with non-profits and indigenous groups who are committed to developing the biodiversity in their area. During my internship, we are tasked to review existing areas and identify conservation goals for the region. It was a new experience for me since I have always known the theories in the books only. Thumbs up to IGS!

The conservation biology projects are the most interesting internship for me when I browsed IGS’ website. I am so excited when I got accepted to my chosen field and preferred destination. Capetown, South Africa was great! They have mild climate, natural setting, and well-developed infrastructure. I can travel during our days-off and all I can say is that their beaches are oh-so-fantastic.

My IGS mentor was adorable. He made sure I was having the best experience by having an up close and personal immersion into the Fijian way of life and marine ecosystems. Miss Sykes was very well-informed about her craft. She trained us on how to lay transects and how to observe and record species they will encounter on the reefs. Fiji was awesome!

Since Marine Biology is my college degree, this internship became the perfect option for me. IGS took care of our travel to the islands of Fiji and prepared our programme in learning about coral reefs, island customs, and cultural ecology. Ever since I got back from Fiji, I’ve been telling my Marine Bio friends how they are missing a part of their lives if they would not intern here! This is probably the best career decision I did for this year.

We did weekly dharma talks that enriched my knowledge about Buddhism. We were encouraged to volunteer on projects, such as temple restoration and education of the monks in residence. As a native English speaker, I enjoyed teaching the English language to the locals. I personally became attached to them. I can’t wait to go back!

Thank you for organizing everything! Thank you. That was an amazing experience. This is not just their job but their passion. I had a chance to help set up the studio when companies booked the space to film commercials. I learned so much. And, It’s a fun work environment where people are super serious but always ready for a good laugh.

I always wanted to work in a radio station, and my voice to be heard. With this opportunity i worked in radio station London and, i learned so many things, I built my professional skills. I also helped coordinate events for the station. And meet so many famous singers, artists. It’s so fun, i love to work here with such wonderful people. There is a lot that goes into it and I got a chance to be part of it all.

I had the opportunity for professional internship in the marketing field. This is really amazing experience. I get to meet their clients and sit in when they develop their marketing plans for them. They helped my career. I have the opportunity to work with major sports teams, ecotourism companies, and other exciting venues. It was a really good experience, and I am glad I got the opportunity to do it.

I had the opportunity to explore the city and visit botanical gardens and cultural museums. And, learn a lot about coral reefs, island customs, and the cultural ecology that links them together. I made so many friends. This is realy amazing experience. My supervisor was great, she always had tasks to give me, but also was open to me asking her for assistance, which I did a lot. At the office, i felt always welcomed.

They are true professionals. on this internship, I realy work with true artists behind the lens. They taught me discipline, tips with lighting, and how to photograph people in a fixed setting. Now I know what it was like to be a photographer in the real world instead of just fantasizing about it. I appreciate them!

They gave me a nice choice of job duties doing event planning, working in their herb garden, and assisting in stream conservation. Any time the lab needed help, I would also help there with things like sediment samples and coral disease research. This internship put me in the field and let me see how other researches do their jobs. It was a really good experience, and I am glad I got the opportunity to do it. I am really glad I chose this internship.

On my first day in Sydney I was wandering around what was soon to become my neighborhood. After a few days, my roommates and I talked about the range of architecture and culture the city seemed to capture. The definition of a melting pot: home to a large Asian population, European, and some Americans. The food, the buildings, the languages are all a mix. What really struck me in my time there was the plight of the Aboriginal people. The drastic loss of these people and their culture is what has inspired me to learn some of the real history of the area. In a recent trip to the Blue Mountains we spoke to an Aboriginal briefly and observed traditional Dreamtime dances and rituals. There are so many things to appreciate about the land, and that goes hand in hand with appreciating the culture and survival of the Aboriginal peoples. At Grotto Point, I viewed cave art made 40,000 years ago. The engravings are not colorful and loud artwork, but rather very simple marks that almost felt like evidence. They are outlined symbols of fish, water, and land. I am so lucky I stumbled on to this native history during my short time here.

One experience was so powerful and pivotal in my own interpretation of my time in New Zealand. That was the Milford Track, a 5-day track along the Clinton River and over the McKinnon Pass in Fiordland National Park. It is one of the nine “Great Walks” in New Zealand. I also visited the Waitomo Caves, which are about 2 hours south of Auckland. There is beauty and grace even where we can sometimes feel an initial sense of fear and concern, and the Waitomo glow worm caves proved just that. Another trip I took was to Rangitoto Island. A volcanic island about 25 minutes away from Auckland by ferry. It erupted from the sea almost 600 years ago, and it now acts as a hiker’s escape from the industrialism of the city. Another Island I visited was Waiheke Island. It is a beautiful island about 40 minutes by ferry from downtown Auckland. It is an oasis of surf homes and calm beaches, centered around Oneroa Village. Waiheke Island provides a sense of seclusion and serenity that seems to lacking in the industrial and multi-dimensional city of Auckland. It is the area’s breath of fresh air, and is certainly worth the journey.

I compose my own music and really wanted to work in a sound studio to learn more about the craft. IGS helped locate one of the premier sound editing studios in Sydney. Top artists from around the county come here to create musical scores for movies, documentaries, commercials and their own private gigs. They got me my own studio space to work on my sound. And, I am able to assist other producers on some really exciting projects. Learning on the latest equipment and seeing how professionals organize their music will really help me for the future. The director of the studio even had me and my cousin over for dinner. These guys are real pros.

Hi Guys! I’m Natasha from New York. I am on my Gap Year with Interim Programs and they introduced me to Dr. David Adams and the Institute for Global Studies. I just spent a month interning for IGS in Sydney. It fell into place perfectly as I always dreamed of living in Sydney and IGS had a research position for their Intern Down Under program. worked directly with David to set up a really cool places to see list for future Intern Down Under participants like yourself. My background is in advertising and design and interning with IGS allowed me to apply my skills while fulfilling my Australia dream. I learned some amazing history during my research. And, the best part was getting out to see the sites! Inspired by what I saw, I organized my impressions to help you get an idea of all that you can explore while here. Sydney is a place unlike any other: full of unique suburbs, quirky city blocks, and truly diverse natural environments! One day I started my research surrounded by skyscrapers and ten minutes later I was on a white sand beach! My Sydney experience with IGS was wonderful and Intern Down Under is going to be a blast!

I chose Intern Down Under because it was the perfect “next step” before solo travel. With Intern Down Under, I chose how to spend my free time without relying on supervisors to do that for me. Before our internships started, we had a five-day orientation period. My favorite part of the orientation in Auckland was going to Piha Beach. For my Auckland internship, I worked at Talented Tots–an early learning childcare center. What I enjoyed most about Auckland in general was the location of our apartment. We were right in the central business district and less than a 5-minute walk from all the best shops and restaurants. What I like the most about Sydney is the food! Intern Down Under helped prepare me for my future. I hadn’t felt that amount of freedom, and I loved it! I am really preparing to take care of myself. I planned my own weekend trips and excursions which taught me how to handle unexpected situations and problems as they arise. I also learned to live with other people from different backgrounds and how to do so while causing as little conflict as possible.

For me, the pressure was on the minute I touched down on Australian soil to find the ideal gifts for all my friends and family, and then some. I was able to visit Bondi Beach, Manly, Market City, and Darling Harbor to help fulfill my quest. During my first trip to Bondi, the first thing I did was take a walk toward the pool that I had dreamt about seeing. I learned that this iconic pool was called ‘The Bondi Icebergs.’ It was even more amazing in person, surrounded by Bondi’s cliffs and the ocean. But, my curiosity for the Bondi Icebergs didn’t end there. I wanted to know more about it, and maybe even get to go swimming in the famous pool. After doing some research and sitting down with one of the pool’s employees, I found out everything I needed to know about the Bondi Icebergs. One week I was given the seemingly impossible task of discovering which shop has the best ice cream at Bondi Beach. While in Sydney, I interned at CityHubSydney and even had an article published.

This internship showed me what it was like to be a photographer in the real world instead of just fantasizing about it. I worked with Zahrina Photography and Absolute Photography Studios. A really cool thing that I got to do was freelance for a magazine called the IndoPost. One of the pictures I shot ended up on the cover. Through this internship, I gained experience in production, running your own business, freelancing, and working in a studio. The internship helped me plan my career by showing me that I am interested in all aspects of a photography career.

My internship was working in an animal sanctuary. My tasks included feeding animals and cleaning their habitats. I stayed in a cabana on the sanctuary site. The path I took everyday was lined with plants and wildlife. I got to see almost the entire country of Ecuador in my internship. I want to thank the Institute for Global Studies for making this happen for me and making a dream come true. I returned home a little more worldly and with a little Spanish under my belt. I was able to do things that I will never get a chance to do again. The time I spent in Ecuador, I would never give back.

I worked with a company that ran tours into the Hunter Valley wine country two hours north of Sydney. I conducted a survey of the competition in the area and made suggestions to the owner on how to update his social media pages so he was more competitive. We worked together to prepare the meals for the day. On the bus, my job was to go between guests and tell them little things about where we were going and what to expect. And, sometimes just to shoot the breeze. When we stopped at a scenic lookout, the owner and I would get out the cheese tray and serve exotic cheeses. And I accompanied them on the wine tasting at the various locations and made sure everyone knew where the bathroom was and showing them the basics.

I was the second Down Under Tom to work with them so they called me Texas Tom. These guys are really a fun group to work with. This is not just their job but their passion. I had a chance to help set up the studio when companies booked the space to film commercials. Also, I learned about all the latest equipment to check in and out to their clients. These guys work with some of the top film crews in the world so being around that really inspired me.

It was neat working with a nearly all-female staff of professionals. They gave me a nice choice of job duties doing event planning, working in their herb garden, and assisting in stream conservation. I really appreciated their mission of helping to educate the community and to conserve the fragile freshwater ecosystems in the mountains above Auckland. They were super helpful and I am really glad I chose this internship.

I took this internship for me. I didn’t take it for hours or credits. Even though, I did get some animal husbandry hours that counted toward my degree, I really just wanted to see what the field was like, and I really got that from this internship. The Institute found a house to rent for me. My flight and transportation were a smooth, easy process. It all worked very well. In my job, I gave a lot of tours. I helped maintain the touch tables in the education department. Any time the lab needed help, I would also help there with things like sediment samples and coral disease research. My favorite day including snorkeling to collect samples of an invasive species of seaweed. This internship put me in the field and let me see how other researches do their jobs. It was a really good experience, and I am glad I got the opportunity to do it.

The coolest part of working at the Virtual Reality Studio is the amount of responsibility I am given. From Day One they trained me to be a Game Master. I do the same job that the owner of the company does. First I introduce clients to the rules of the game and how the equipment works. Then comes the neat part. I monitor the mainframe computer when the participants are playing. On my screen, I see what the players see. If the players are on Mars and they can’t find a tool they need, I give them a hint. My job is to keep the game moving along and allow the players to feel challenge, but give tips when they are frustrated.

I wanted a professional internship in the marketing field and they found the perfect match. What a great office right in the heart of the city with a view of the park and high rises. The best part is the job duties they assign. I get to meet their clients and sit in when they develop their marketing plans for them. I then assist with creating a social media presence for the client and as well some graphic work. If they are doing a google ads campaign I help with those submissions as well. They have offices around the world so it is neat being with an international firm.

I got a chance to work at one of the premier rugby leagues in the city. I helped out in their main office across from the stadium. Our job was to promote all the teams and their matches. My project was to design a marketing plan that would help them gain exposure to a set of industries that were under represented. So we came up with a strategy to approach those businesses and get new sponsors for the stadium and the teams. It was fun meeting some of the players and learning about rugby union. I didn’t realize there were different types of rugby rules and leagues. Now I even have a favorite team to root for.

Before this internship, I had never travelled alone. I lived in Votua Village, which lies in the middle of the coral coast. I lived in a little house with a wonderful family. As soon as I walked inside, I was greeted with firm handshakes and open arms. I worked in a dive shop while I was there. The dive shop is part of the village and is run by people who live there. A percentage the profits goes to the village. I also did MPA (Marine Protected Area) surveys. Our job was to survey the MPA area calculating the percent of live coral and dead coral. Our data was then compared to surrounding areas that were not protected. I made so many friends. I cannot communicate with them due to the remote area, but the one thing they said to me is, “Eric whenever you want to come back, you just come straight to the village because this is your home.” Not only have I made so many friends…I’ve become family.

I worked at a radio station in Sydney that focused on local artists and Aboriginal music in general. It was neat to see local singers and groups come into the station to promote their music. My job at the station was to help book the talent. So I reached out to the agents or singers themselves to schedule times to come in. I also helped coordinate events for the station. This required me to reach out to local businesses and people in the community which I liked. Watching how a radio show is put together was a valuable learning experience. There is a lot that goes into it and I got a chance to be part of it all.

IGS helped me land my dream internship with the International Buddhist Association in Kathmandu. It was simply incredible. I keep in touch with some of my friends there and talk to a few of the monks regularly. They help guide me in my understanding of Buddhist philosophy. I’m back to my studies at the University of Arizona now, and I can really feel the difference. Now that I have some basic understanding of Buddhism, I relate to my class material very differently. At times I feel like I have joined some exclusive club. I connect with everything differently now and it feels pretty awesome.

Working with Jasmine and her staff at the Dog Daycare was great. They are super friendly and supportive. The location was right in the heart of a really cool suburb with tons of restaurants to sample. They had me walk the dogs twice a day and oversee the “pack” upstairs. My job was to keep them under control and to settle down the dogs if they got too excited. As a dog owner this was right up my alley. Just being around that many different breeds you get to learn a lot about how they are similar and different.

My internship was through an online, independent newspaper in Wellington, New Zealand. The parliamentary elections were going on at the time I was there, and I was able to learn about the differences in their government compared to ours. I maintained a blog, for the newspaper, about election integrity. I was able to network with over 40 activist concerning important issues like voter disenfranchisement and electronic voting fraud. I also updated the international news web page. Another aspect of this internship included a flight to Christchurch to cover the music festival “Southern Amp”. I was given a lot of responsibilities and autonomy. The staff was great to work with. In fact, the editor has written numerous recommendation letters for me.

I enjoyed my time at The Hobson and learned a lot about community journalism. Seeing my work published in such a respected place made me proud of myself. I liked the balance of meeting with the editor some days and then going in the field to do my research. Writing about the community gave me a chance to see how political issues are handled in a different country. Also, having an assignment near the beach was really cool.

The house, the town and weather are great! We went to the Capital last Sunday it’s really convenient from where we live. The rehabilitation is center is great! In one word, I like this internship and enjoy my time. Thank you very much for your work.

I really liked the fast pace and challenge. Avenues has an amazing reputation. Once they saw that I was skilled at Microsoft Office and some design they treated me like one of the gang. They put me on some high profile events and I got to use my creative skills to help with brochures and other material. The best part was going to the events. These were high end functions and sometimes finished late into the evening. It’s a great place if you like to be challenged. Working with a all-female staff was cool as well.

I had a great time in Hawaii. I worked in Waikiki at the beach information desk. I also worked at the Moana Surfrider Resort. Along with this, I did activities such as working with the aquarium and taking the Ocean Awareness training test. I learned a lot and even produced a power point to teach others about water quality issues. I’m really thankful that the institute has gotten me here. I couldn’t have asked for a better opportunity.

Hawaii has been awesome! The house is super nice and tidy, and the people are really friendly. I went on the field trip this week, snorkeled with dolphins and helped out the people taking the water quality samples. Super fun! Overall it has been a great experience and I have a feeling it will stay this way. Oh and also I got to know 2 girls from Puerto Rico, so I don’t feel so far away from home!

My time so far working with Dave at Institute for Global Studies has been nothing but exceptional. From our first phone conversation, Dave has been nothing but engaged and committed to myself as an individual, and that holds true for the other seven members of our group. Our group orientation week was fantastic. We are able learn about New Zealand’s history through museum visits, tours guided by locals, and trips to some of New Zealand’s beautiful natural offerings, including the renowned Piha Beach. The housing situation is far better than what I could have possibly imagined. Myself and three others are in a pretty, spacious, and modern apartment overlooking the ocean with Waiheke island in the distance. Not to mention, we are practically in the heart of the city of Auckland; a five minute walk to Queen Street and ten minute walk to the base of the Sky Tower. The internships started after we had a full week of orientation, which also gave us the time to do some exploring on our own and settle in before we got engaged in our work. My experience with my internship so far has been tremendous.

It was always a dream of mine to work overseas in finance. Coming to Sydney and working with one of the leading financial planners was amazing. I learned so much about the mortgage industry and how to generate new business and clients. I worked side-by-side with the owner of the company and attended important meetings in the field. It could not have been better.

Seldom have I found a place where I have felt so completely at home and fulfilled as I have in Koke’e. The work in conservation biology and the people here have helped me reaffirm my desire to be involved in environmental science. It has also helped me to understand where I want to go in my future endeavors. I have received complete support from the Katie, Ellen and David which they displayed by showing an intense desire to teach me about the forest ecosystem and guide me in any way possible. When I arrived up on the mountain, I spent the first couple of weeks working out in the forest, just trying to identify the plants. However, it wasn’t until we took a four-day backpacking trip into Alakai swamp that the delicate balance between the plants and their environment really struck me. The work we did in the swamp and in the rest of Koke’e was enhanced by my coworkers. Overall my internship in Koke’e has been extremely rewarding and educational. The application of the work done here is so valuable that I realized I want to go into an applied science. I would love to be one of those researchers.

Actually helped the office in the northeast with tsunami relief operations and helping refugees with soup kitchen and non-food item delivery. I also got to represent the NGO I was working in at a NGO networking meeting in the U.S. embassy! My supervisor was great, she always had tasks to give me, but also was open to me asking her for assistance, which I did a lot. I felt very welcomed and accommodated at the office.

Work with the crew at Kingsize was the best part of the internship. They liked that I was from America and were always curious to learn more about me. They taught me a bunch about the equipment they use and I liked being on my feet throughout the day helping to outfit clients. It’s a fun work environment where people are super serious but always ready for a good laugh.

Usually I take my photos in the field so this internship allowed me a chance to learn studio photography. They taught me discipline, tips with lighting, and how to photograph people in a fixed setting. They appreciated my knowledge of cameras and put me on timely projects. The staff works extremely hard and this was truly a professional internship.

I am a high school senior who wanted to do something meaningful over the summer before college. I have been studying Spanish for five years, so I choose to work in Spain. This internship is a great way to improve your foreign language skills as well as work on your career path. My internship was working with a biology student studying the Mediterranean Rain Forest in Barcelona. My first day there, my mentor showed me around the city and taught me how to get around using the metro. My favorite aspect of the program was the diversity of the tasks I had. One day we would be working in the forest taking samples, and the next day, we would be analyzing those samples in the lab. We were studying photosynthesis, and I learned the whole procedure of investigating the photosynthetic traits of different plants. The people in the Institute were so helpful. They made me feel a part of their community, and I had the best time. I was at a point where I am struggling to choose a major and a career path, but working for a month in an institute for ecological research helped me realize that environmental science is very important to me.

For my international internship, IGS set me up in Cancun, Mexico to work for an eco-tourism company and to assist on weekends with a sea turtle rescue foundation. My employers and co-workers were some of the friendliest I’ve had the pleasure to meet. For the first three weeks of my internship, I worked at the marina seeing tourists off on the whale shark tour. My last week, I helped edit tour descriptions and did writing for the blog. I was happy to have the opportunity to see both sides: the administration and the actual tours. My other project was with the Palace Foundation. I helped relocate sea turtle nests to a protected area with biologists. Because of excellent housing plans by IGS, I was placed in an apartment with one of my fellow interns. I would not trade in this experience for anything. I’ve had a truly life-changing adventure that opened the door for more international adventures in the future. I did not realize how much fun I would have and how close I would get to my newfound friends in Mexico. While my tan will fade, my memories leave a permanent and positive imprint on my life.

Greetings!​ I spent my fall in Malawi, Africa before joining Intern Down Under. I interned with an archaeologist in Sydney and at an animal park in Auckland. I helped organize some weekend excursions for the group to Hobbiton where Lord of the Rings was filmed and to a mountain getaway on the coast. Sampling new restaurants is a favorite pastime and you can see some of my restaurant and excursion reviews below.

I was more interested in the marketing side of the newspaper. My job duties include expanding our publication into a new district in the city. This is fun work as I get to learn all kinds of new things about the area. Approaching businesses is real-life work. I see the results immediately when I get a sale and it’s a good feeling to succeed in the real world.

The greatest part of working for the newspaper is how many articles I get to write. I submitted four pieces after only two weeks! It’s really fun to research topics in a foreign country and learn about the culture and what is important to people here. This is going to be amazing for my resume.

The program was fantastic. I learned a lot! I would definitely recommend it to anyone with an interest in Buddhism and helping children. It’s great opportunity to get comfortable here while making new friends from all over the world. I even got to know a couple of the monks pretty well. I am now working with the kids after their school. It’s been a little challenging at times, but really fun.

Working at The Photography Studio in Sydney was a dream come true. They are true professionals from start to finish. Once I saw how much I could learn and the responsibilities they placed in me I asked to increase my hours and actually changed my flight so I could stay another month and a half. I got to work with award winning photographers and assisted on all aspects of their work.
