The food was delicious, the culture and history of Spain was magnificent, and my host family was super kind and accommodating. Madrid itself was also very clean, full of friendly people, and the safest city I have ever lived in. You don't receive much guidance from the program in regards to teaching, navigating the city, or making friends, but I was able to overcome most of these challenges myself or with the help of my host family after sometime. Would highly recommend this program if you are looking for a change of pace.

Living with my host family made me feel truly welcomed and part of their home, and every day gave me a chance to learn more about the culture, the language, and myself. From the beautiful nature and exciting adventures to the small everyday moments, I gained new perspectives and made memories I will never forget.

I chose to volunteer teach abroad for the experience of being in a classroom on the other side of learning a second language. I have studied Italian for the past four years, both at my home university and abroad, and I am very interested in how individuals learn and teach a second language, particularly English.
