As a language major, I know the best way to become really proficient is complete immersion, so I knew that study abroad would be the right move for me. I also wanted to experience something different than just my college campus. I had never lived in a big city before, not even my college town. Madrid seemed to be a faster-paced lifestyle that I really wanted to experience.

I began to develop an interest in Paris, France when I started learning French a few years before studying abroad. I spoke an advanced level of the language and was quite familiar with the culture, but did not have the chance to apply those skills outside of school. Thus, going to Paris allowed me to put into practice my French-speaking skills and further expand my knowledge of the French culture.
