CEA CAPA Education Abroad in Sydney, Australia

Great staff who have stayed connected even a year after returning home. They partnered me with a great internship where I learned so much and made so many friends. The CEA CAPA program students are all so excited to be there and explore, it is a great community to be a part of. I wish I could go back!!!

I had the opportunity to study abroad in Sydney during the Fall 2019 semester through CAPA. It is easy to say that it was one of the best decisions I have ever made! This was my first time ever leaving the US so it was definitely a huge life changing experience but one that was amazing. The staff both here in the US and Sydney were super helpful with our academics, internships, and were always there to help guide us along the way. The transition from entering Sydney was really easy for all of the students. This was such an amazing experience! I highly recommend for people to study abroad through CAPA Sydney!

I studied abroad in Sydney during the summer of 2019 during a 6-week program offered by my university in conjunction with CAPA. Opting for the class + internship option, I was able to study and work while exploring the city for the duration of my stay. As someone who comes from a travel oriented family, the option to study abroad was a question of where as opposed to when! I had always wanted to go to Australia and all the details with the program just so happened to work with my chaotic schedule: the time spent in country, the curriculum, the option to work abroad, the opportunities coordinated by CAPA--everything worked with what I expected and wanted. I can genuinely say that I felt comfortable while so far away from home, with the staff providing me with all the information, materials, and support I needed to succeed. I experienced so many once in a lifetime opportunities while in Sydney (Attending Vivid! Viewing movies at the Sydney Film Festival! Seeing a show at the Opera House!) that I will remember forever. I had the time of my life and would do everything all over again in a heartbeat.

In January of 2020, I traveled 10,000 miles away from home and started my monumetous adventure abroad in Sydney, Australia. There I attended classes with my fellow CAPA students learning about Australian history; sports in Australian society; and gender, culture, and society in Australia. I also participated in an internship with Nutrition Australia, where I learned a great deal about the daily operations of a non-government, non-profit community health organization while also advancing my professional skills to complete tasks related to nutrition, dietetics, health promotion and public health. I am extremely thankful to Nutrition Australia and everything my mentors and coworkers taught me! The CAPA Sydney program organizes housing for all students, you can choose between living with a host family or staying in student apartments. I chose to live with other CAPA students in the Oaks Apartments right next to Darling Harbour. I was lcukey to be placed with three amazing roommates, to whom I still speak with now that study abroad is over! All students are placed in the same apartment building which gave me the opportunity to meet others in the CAPA program outside of school. Due to the global pandemic, I was not able to experience the full study abroad program and had to return back to the states a month and a half early. The CAPA program did an amazing job supporting us and helping to navigate us through this unpredictable time My overall experience was a 11/10! I would totally recommend the CAPA Sydney: Study & Intern Program to any prospective students! I was extremely fortunate to meet so many exquisite

I studied abroad in Sydney, Australia at one of CAPA many wonderful locations. I was not only a CAPA student but did a direct enrollment program into one of the local Universities called University of Technology Sydney. It was by far the best four months of my life and I made the best of memories there. To this very day I miss studying abroad and living in Australia! The CAPA program advisers helped me through every step of the process and really made what seemed to be an uncomfortable, out of my comfort zone, experience into a very exciting process that took the nerves of being 10,000 miles away from one away.

I had an incredible experience in Sydney through the CAPA program. I was able to take classes that truly interested me while also having time to explore Sydney and other cities and countries. CAPA provided amazing housing and I met lifetime friends through the CAPA program. The activities that CAPA provided to us throughout the 4 months were amazing, my favorite was the overnight at the Taronga Zoo! If you're in the process of choosing a program to study with, CHOOSE CAPA!! I would do it all again in a heartbeat if I had the opportunity!

Interning in Australia was a life changing experience. It made me sure of what I want to do with my life as well as helped get my foot in the door before actually taking the step to go to get my degree. I worked in a Chiropractic clinic which was amazing because I have always wanted to be a chiropractor. I also loved my homestay, my host mom and her friends and family made my experience so much better than I could ever have imagined! I had a lot of free time on the weekends allowing me to do so much stuff around Sydney and New South Wales. I had such an amazing experience!

My time in Sydney will always stay with me. It is an amazing city and a place that I one day will want to be my forever home. My experience with CAPA Sydney was a great experience and program was a tight knit group that became a family. CAPA made the transition to a new city incredibly easy and offered great support system. CAPA Sydney is a study center, so your classes and housing are with other American university students - making it a different type of experience. So, if you are looking to meet locals - thats on you to branch out and make those connections.

During the fall semester of 2019, I had the opportunity to study abroad and absolutely loved it! My semester was filled with travels to wonderful beaches and new places, and was overall a great adventure for my independence. The classes at the CAPA center had wonderful professors that enjoyed helping students, and really cared about ensuring that our study abroad experience gave us enough time to enjoy the new country we were in as well! The city of Sydney was beautiful and featured easy transportation since CAPA paid for our transportation by giving us OPAL cards and paying for us to travel domestically. The excursions that we went on were amazing, from a hike in the blue mountains with an energetic tour-guide to an overnight stay at the Taronga zoo, where we got to see nocturnal animals at night and even feed giraffes their breakfast! A unique aspect of CAPA is the ability to participate in both an internship and study-abroad classes while abroad. I enjoyed my internship thoroughly because I was able to network with my employer there, improve my sparse resume, and learn information necessary to my future career once I graduate. I would definitely recommend this program to anyone looking for an incredible adventure where they can experience another country's culture, improve their resume, and become more independent!

CAPA was one of the most rewarding decisions I made. The professors made all of the material easy to understand and all of the coursework was not very demanding. The professors were really easy going and made sure no questions were left unanswered. For someone with learning accommodations, CAPA was able to provide the same experience I receive at my home institution in Australia. CAPA offers excursions and they were really cool! We had an overnight stay in the Taronga Zoo and I was able to go kayaking and rock climbing. During my three months there, we lived in a hotel with three other people. The apartments were spacious and we were located in the heart of downtown Sydney. The program gives you a free transportation card that can be used within the right zone which saves you a lot of money. It was one of the best experiences of my life and I would do it all over again if I could.

My study abroad experience was an event in my life that has benefited me in so many positive ways. I was given the opportunity to work with a professional rugby team on the Membership and Ticketing team, which exposed me to sports practices in different countries to aide me in my sports management concentration. The classes at CAPA were perfect for my hands-on learning needs, with experience outside the classroom on field trips. The transportation fares were covered by the school which allowed an incredible amount of freedom to independently travel. As an individual, I grew up a lot during my time abroad, and I would do it all over again if I could. I can honestly say I have no complaints about this program. I would recommend this program to any college student that is interested in seeing the world and gaining an education internationally.

I loved my study abroad experience, and it was definitely worthwhile. I gained experience working internationally and was able to complete a certificate in international business through my home university.

The CAPA program that took me to Sydney Australia was amazing and filled with adventure. I was able to see the beautiful landscapes of Australia. I was able to see the diverse and distinctive animal kingdom that resides in Australia. While still being able to travel in and out of the heart of a 5-star city, which is Sydney. This trip was like no other that I had taken up to this point in my life, and I greatly enjoyed the sense of wonder that overtook me every day in the land down under. Though Australia was amazing and I was filled with awe because of it, it was not even the height of the beauty that I was able to encounter in the southern hemisphere. I was able to take an adventure over the seas that divide Australia from New Zealand, and what I found was astounding. Complete unadulterated nature that was accompanied by crystal blue skies and miles upon miles of rolling grassy hills. This is where I saw the peak of what nature had to offer and those that visit Sydney Australia on the CAPA program do not neglect adventure. If you do, I believe that you run the risk of missing out on the large bounty of beauty this blue planet has to offer.

Going abroad, especially on the other side of the world, can be a little scary but CAPA made it all so easy. The CAPA staff was so helpful with everything related to pre departure and then they could not be more welcoming once I arrived. Sydney is the most amazing city that I have ever visited-they have everything from beautiful beaches to great food to friendly people. CAPA students are housed in Urbanest which is modern apartment building that is pretty central to everything. There are a lot of cute restaurants nearby and Darling Harbor is walking distance. CAPA also hosted many excursions throughout the semester. My personal favorite was the trip to the Blue Mountains and Fetherdale Wildlife Park. I also had a lot of time to tavel on the weekends-I went many places throughout Australia, New Zealand, and Indonesia. Overall, CAPA exceeded my expectations and there are not enough good things I can say about the program and Sydney as a whole!

Studying abroad can be quite scary, but the CAPA staff is extremely welcoming and makes sure you have everything you need to be independent, adventurous, and safe in a foreign country. Although I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to do career wise in the future, I knew I wanted to work in the entertainment industry. The CAPA staff placed me in the best possible internship I could have ever hoped for. I worked as an Entertainment and Sport Marketing Intern with the largest ticketing company, Ticketek. Through my internship, I learned so much about marketing and the entertainment industry, which has confirmed my love for the entertainment industry. I also loved my coworkers and the work culture there, which pushed me to do things outside my comfort zone. I even attended events with coworkers outside of work and still have a good relationship with them to this day! With transportation included in the CAPA program, I was able to go anywhere in New South Wales! CAPA truly helped me build an experience of a lifetime that has strengthened my resume more than any other study abroad program! I would go back in a heartbeat if I could!

I absolutely loved Australia and my study abroad would not have been what it was if I didn't go with CAPA. CAPA provided the perfect amount of support while also providing the perfect amount of independence. With CAPA, public transportation is included in the program which allows you to truly explore the city as much as you desire. With an optional internship, CAPA expands your resume even more than a regular study abroad program!

I learned so much about the history of Australia through my academic class, as well as my adventures around Sydney. I became more independent, confident, and learned how to navigate through a city! It was 100% worth every minute and I truly have nothing negative to say about my experience. CAPA is a wonderful program and there was always a fun excursion to look forward to throughout the whole program. We participated in local events, like the Sydney Film Fest and so much more. My internship was unique to my major and interest in event planning, I networked and worked with an awesome team. Overall I highly recommend this program, not just for the great housing, academic classes, extra excursions, but also for the internship opportunity.

I would highly recommend this program! The CAPA staff is always there to be of assistance to students, and schedules the perfect amount of required activities with the perfect amount of free time to explore on your own.

I loved my experience in Sydney. Over the course of three months, I met and spoke with locals, improved my time- management skills, gained confidence while travelling and interacting with new people, and learned more about Australian culture from living there. I have nothing but good things ti say about my experiences and now definitely have a travel bug!

Studying abroad, especially a country so far away from my own, gave me a new sense of independence and confidence from going abroad and going outside of my comfort zone. I met so many people that are now amazing friends! The opportunities for travel and adventure are limitless! CAPA was by my side the whole time and always available for support or resources. The experiences I was able to get from living in another country and having the ability to travel to such amazing places was incredible and I will cherish the memories forever!

I came into college as an "undeclared" major, having no clue what I type of professional I wanted to be; but, I knew I needed to study abroad before graduating. Last semester I went on the opportunity of a lifetime - I was able to study and intern abroad in Sydney, Australia. I am so happy I chose CAPA to be the program to help and to host me along the way. The CAPA staff were always so kind and thorough when addressing questions or concerns. A main reason I chose CAPA was because they use their already established connections to assign the best internship for you. You're not stuck finding a job in a foreign country all alone- they kind of do the hard work for you. I was able to intern at a Public Relations firm in the Central Business District and gain hands-on experience. As for classes, all of the CAPA professors were knowledgeable and experienced in their subjects. They were sure to make all of their subject matter relate back to our American culture. I learned so much about the world and most importantly, myself. Do not let your finances or fears stop you from the most amazing college experience.

CAPA The Global Education Network allowed me not only to study abroad down under in Australia but also found me an awesome internship based on my own personal interests and major. They did an awesome job by placing me with an internship with DEC PR & Communications right in the heart of the CBD in Sydney. I was able to work with individuals from all over the world and get involved with representing and marketing for clients within the national and international level. A list of my responsibilities as an intern at DEC PR & Communications included: • Researched information for projects and goals the company concerning the optimized representation of clients and organizations. • Partook in brainstorming and creative writing for social media, blog posts, and pitch ideas for promoting clients/products. • Collaborated with the following brands: Coca Cola, Trivett Bespoke Luxury Cars Australia (RollsRoyce, Bentley, Aston Martin, and McLaren), Club Med, Frasers Property, Melbourne Airport, Palmolive, and Mirvac. I am so grateful for this experience to not only study but work abroad in another global city of my choosing. CAPA did an excellent job with pairing relevant classes for students to take (I took Intercultural Communication and International Dimensions of Organizational Behavior), sorting out student housing in a modernized student housing apartment, hosting fun group events & activities, and ensuring the safety and overall quality of my experience in Australia. Therefore I would like to give a big shout out & thank you to CAPA The Global Education Network! I would definitely recommend studying/interning abroad with this unbelievable program which is currently offering programs in London, Florence, Dublin, Shanghai, Buenos Aires, and Sydney.

Going abroad to Australia was one of the best decisions of my life. I was already nervous about going so far away but CAPA made it a great experience. I had an internship at a major media company called Southern Cross Austereo and I bought and sold commercials that was placed on television. I took three classes which was Film, Creative Writing and a Communications class. All of my classes were fun and interesting especially my creative writing class because it was small and we visited museums and houses of famous people. I learned a lot and got to work on poetry and short story throughout the class. My housing situation was an apartment shared with 7 other people. I did not enjoy sharing a kitchen with so many people and sometimes it was difficult to keep it clean. However, the apartments were only a block away from classes and only a few blocks from the train station. It was easy to get everywhere and it was on the main stop called Central. Food shopping can become expensive because overall Australia is an expensive place. Budgeting is very important! I found it better to organize things and write things down to help me budget. There is a lot of fun things to do in Sydney and good places to eat for a small amount of money. I went during the Fall time so there was many free festivals and free concerts. The CAPA administration are always there to help and very supportive. I was able to go to them with all of my personal and educational problems. The locals are also interesting and there is also a culture shock especially for me as an African American woman from Brooklyn. It was not as diverse as I thought it would be and with my huge afro sometimes I received unwanted attention. The locals also ask a lot of personal questions especially about your political views because they are open people about everything. They are humble, intelligent and well informed about the world so I would suggest doing some research before you go. Overall a great experience with CAPA, I got an internship, balanced school and explored. I suggest you check out the CAPA program and travel travel travel!

Through CAPA, I was able to intern at a customizable sports gear startup in their supply and product department. As a business major, the experience was completely relevant and intriguing. Some days were difficult and confusing, but overall the experiences has really opened my eyes to the business world past the classroom and has given me some pretty funny stories along the way.

If you are looking to change your life in the most incredible way, studying abroad with CAPA is your key to achieving such things. I have a new perception of the world that is much more open and involves a new way of thinking unmatched by anything I could have gotten from a textbook in the United States. Going abroad for me helped become the focal bridge in linking what I am passionate about in life to my career aspirations. Studying abroad with CAPA pushed me to face challenges I could never have faced had I not been in a foreign country abroad. The beauty is what comes of challenges abroad that personally allowed me to grow and become a more complete person. CAPA staff was there to help 100% of the time and helped make my experience as awesome as it was. They had incredible student apartments that we stayed in and set up many cultural activities that immediately helped us assimilate into the Australian culture.

This program is a great choice. I loved that housing, transportation, classes, and your internship placement is fully handled by CAPA. Activities are planned throughout the semester, and the CAPA staff does their best to make sure you're enjoying your semester as best as possible. There are plenty of opportunities to travel, as well as explore Sydney. There is so much to do in the city, especially if you go during the summer when the beaches are open. The program offers relevant classes, places you in an internship that suits your career goals, and leaves plenty of time for fun. You'll get to meet other Americans on the trip, some even from your home university.

My study abroad experience was absolutely worthwhile-I would do it again in a heartbeat! I gained professional experience, independence, cultural awareness and much more. I learned about myself and that I can be confident in the face of challenges, and I can achieve anything i set my mind to. I cannot wait for my next Australian adventure and look forward to moving back and working and living there one day. I loved my CAPA classes and my educational experience while I was abroad. I felt challenged by my courses but not overwhelmed, and I feel like I was able to learn a lot about the Oceania region through my classes. While I did had projects and papers to complete, I did not feel like my workload was too intense and I was confident in my ability to complete my work on time. The resources and support that CAPA offered me were a tremendous help as I learned to navigate the education system abroad. If I needed help with anything, from finding a fax machine or printer to navigating the online submission system, CAPA staff were always willing to help me and ensure that I had all the resources I needed to succeed. I felt like I had a really good balance of class assignments, internship duties and free time. I still had plenty of time to explore Australia and integrate myself into the culture, but my studies came first. I will always remember the help and support that my professors provided me with and the neat experiences I had within the classroom. My overall educational experience far exceeded my expectations and I would recommend CAPA to students who want to have an educational experience that enables them to interact with their host city and country. I felt like I always had a safe place to go if I had questions or any concerns while in Australia. The CAPA support staff always encouraged students to stop by the office just to chat or try a yummy Australian snack. If I needed help finding a printer or fax machine, I could go there, and if I were to have had any issues, I am confident they would have helped me. It was so lovely to feel so welcome and at ease in a foreign country. The CAPA support staff planned many fun, optional activities for students as well-my favorite was the food crawl through Newtown! I really liked the Urbanest apartments we were assigned. They were much better than I expected, with many amenities I really appreciated it, including a fitness center, computers and laundry room. The apartments were really nice and very big-especially the kitchen and the living room. I was surprised by how big they were! I always felt very safe in my urbanest and I enjoyed my living experience and getting to know my roommates! I think about going back and repeating this amazing experience all the time. It was absolutely incredible to go to school, work and live in Australia, and it has completely changed my future. I want to move back one day. Studying abroad in Australia was always a dream of mine, and accomplishing it was absolutely incredible. Going abroad and traveling and experiencing another culture inspired me to always shoot for the stars and achieve my dreams-I want to continue living an extraordinary life and I look forward to the future. CAPA Sydney was the perfect mix of support and independence-I truly felt like I was a professional adult, working in Sydney and taking classes. I felt so independent, with my own apartment, grocery shopping, money management and much more. I feel like, now that I lived across the world successfully and independently, I can do anything! I would love the chance to do it all over again, but I know I will be going back one day because Sydney is now home for me.

CAPA, Legitimately the best experience I have ever had. CAPA was so helpful and planned so many AMAZING fun events for us to do ranging from FOOD CRAWLS for FREE (who doesn't love that) to up close and personal in the Opera House, to PRIVATE Screenings of movies, to hiking trips and getting up close and person with a KOALA! :) How many of you can actually say you have done that in your life :) CAPA Staff is absolutely incredible people and will forever stay in your heart for days, months and years to come. CAPA is interested in not only making sure you have the best experience abroad, but also ensuring your safety and security while you are away from home. They are concerned about that lovely stuff. The people you will also meet are incredible. The internship/classes are amazing and awesome of learning aspects and help you open your horizons to how many amazing things are out in this world. The accommodations are like living on a college campus and make you feel so at home seeing so many other college students around! I would recommend everyone to go take a trip with CAPA! If you want to make the best of your trip, the only people who can do that is CAPA International Study Abroad Program! :)

There are not enough great things I can say about this program and CAPA. My internship with Cancer Council NSW was everything I hoped it would be! CAPA is really great at pairing you with an internship site that caters to your needs and desires. During my stay, CAPA was utilizing Urbanest, a student accommodation, the apartments were spacious and there are "sausage sizzles" every Friday! The only downside is that doing one small load of laundry will cost you about 8.00 AUD. Sydney is an incredible city that has managed to create a perfect balance between a beach bum's paradise and an urban jungle. I would highly recommend this program for anyone that truly want immerse themselves into the city's culture.

I did the CAPA program Fall 2015. We had a good group of students from many universities and colleges across the US. The program was well put together and organized, and really nothing went wrong. Everyone was professional and helpful both in the US and abroad, which put me at ease being abroad and being in the program. We were in new apartments where each double room had it's own full bathroom which was amazing. The kitchen was big and really nice to cook in (which I did often since eating out is expensive!!). I went with CAPA because of the opportunity to intern abroad in my major. I had a great placement at a physiotherapy office where I learned a lot. My classes were relevant, and there was some work but nothing that got in the way of my experience. Travelling around Australia isn't as easy as it is in Europe, but if you plan ahead and book flights in advance or during sales they can be super cheap. I went to Thailand, New Zealand, and Melboune. The included excursions we had were hiking in the Blue Mountains, a wildlife walkabout park, and going to a Rugby game! Both were really fun and there were no hidden fees in them. I also really appreciated the included transportation pass. You got a card that works on all the public transport and they reload it for you, so you can travel in Sydney and surrounding areas as much as you want! For anyone interested in interning abroad I strongly recommend CAPA Sydney as they matched everyone in relevant internships and check in to make sure everything is going well, and in the end you could get a great recommendation for jobs/grad school. I think the areas of improvement could be covering the cost to get to the apartments from the airport when you arrive, and some kind of food budget. I think they had one in years prior and I wish it was still in existence since then students with scholarships could receive food money included in that. My only other complaint was the cost of laundry, but that was the apartment complex and not under CAPA's control.

My overall experience in the city of Sydney through the CAPA program was amazing. While abroad I had an internship that CAPA found. This internship was picture perfect for my major. I learned so much and made so many friends that I never thought I would have because of CAPA. The only thing I wish this program did a little better was their touring of the city. While on the trip there were CAPA sponsored trips to the Blue Mountains, a Wildlife park, and even a food crawl around Newtown. Although these were fun, I do wish there were more trips. I found that as the weeks went on I became more and more overwhelmed with what I wanted to do/see. The trip as a whole was incredible and I highly recommend anyone who is looking to study abroad to look at CAPA first.

I had the best time of my life in Australia. The moments in which I was able to see national landmarks like the Harbour Bridge, the Sydney Opera House, and the Blue Mountains were beautiful to say the least. I also had the opportunity to try new things while i was there like alligator, emu, and kangaroo as well. However, the greatest experience that I had while I was down in Australia was being able to celebrate my birthday with both supervisors and my friends. I thought it was beyond incredible that people went out of their way to plan a party for a person that they had only met a few prior to that weekend. My 21st birthday weekend and the people I shared it with is something I will honestly never forget!

I abosutely loved studying abroad through the CAPA program. I spent 7.5 weeks in Sydney, Australia, and I learned so much. CAPA helped me prepare for the trip, helped me find an amazing internship, and the staff was always there in Sydney if we needed anything. As a group, CAPA took us on a trip to the Blue Mountains and a wildlife park where we got to pet and feed so many kangaroos. Interning abroad really introduced me to the Australian culture. I got to apply the skills I have learned in the classroom to real life situations for a company that was really happy I was there.

I absolutely loved the program I went abroad with. My internship was awesome and I learned so much about myself, and what career I wanted to pursue when I graduate in the Spring. If I could do it all again, I would in a heartbeat.

While abroad I was doing a 6 credit internship. The CAPA staff did an amazing job at matching an internship to my major, interests, and it was even walking distance from my home. I learned so much from doing an internship in another country. The administrations in Sydney were very helpful. They were all quick to respond to emails and made us all aware of any resources we might need. They also kept us up to date on any activities that we might be interested in, in sydney and made sure we didn't forget to do our assignments. I felt very integrated since I did the homestay. I also spent some time volunteering in Sydney, which was an amazing way to meet the locals and learn more about the culture. It was especially easy since there was no language barrier. Although things may have seemed very similar to the states, getting involved was a great way to realize and appreciate the differences.I think this is something I knew but didn't fully realize until I got back, and this is how quickly the 7 weeks would go by. I have studied abroad before I knew it would go by faster than I expected, but for some reason this trip just flew by. There are still things I wish I would have done while I was there that I never got to. I think I could have done some more planning ahead of time to prevent that, but looks like I will just have to go back :)

The Fall of 2015 was a wonderful time in my life. I was able to study abroad with CAPA International Education and participate in a full time internship while taking classes. Roo's: CAPA organized an outing to the Blue Mountains and a wildlife park so that I could walk around with the local wild life. I made kangaroo and wallaby friends, the emus were not as friendly. It was great to experience nature in and around Sydney. Canoes: As a health sciences major, having an internship with a Physical Therapist that counted for credit at my home institution was great. As a member of the student intern group I was invited to volunteer and help provide Physio and first aid treatments for athletes in the Hawkesbury Canoe Classic, a 111km canoe race inland west from Sydney. Surfer dudes: I was able to participate in surf camp and learn how to read waves and handle a board. I was surprised that I could stand up and actually surf. Those surf camp instructors were fun and they helped us all accomplish our goals. In all, I loved the city, the coastal walks, connecting with a new culture, the professional connections I have made with my supervisor and fellow interns, the ocean and the self discoveries that I had the opportunity to make. I will definitely go back there. It is a place where I found a sense of home.

I will forever b grateful for the CAPA Study Abroad program for offering such an amazing experience. I recently completed a fall semester study abroad in the beautiful Sydney, Australia.. I was able to hone my time management skills as I juggled coursework, a part-time internship at the drinks Association in Chatswood, and personal travel. After studying in Australia, I feel I have much more valuable information to add to class discussions in my American courses. I created long lasting ties with my co-workers at my internship site and I took part in amazing travel opportunities to the Gold Coast and Cairns. I was busy and found I had to put i more work than originally anticipated, but nothing worthwhile comes easy. I would study abroad again in a heartbeat!

I was worried that I would not get a good placement because of my major but CAPA placed me with an intern site that worked great for me! CAPA has great excursions that are either free or very cheap that help you see more of Sydney and experience all the city has to offer. My ONLY complaint is that living in such close quarters made everyone from my University pass around a nasty cold that would not go away for weeks so at least one person was sick the entire 8 weeks we were there. Other than that the trip and experience was unforgettable!

I loved my time in Sydney, and CAPA made it all possible. They were available to help us whenever we needed--it was the perfect amount of structure while still letting us be independent and make our own plans. Highly recommended!

This was the experience of a lifetime! I would never change it for the world. The housing was great and if there were problems the staff were helpful in mending them. Having the transportation provided was amazing, it would have been so expensive otherwise! It would have been nice to live closer to campus but I loved the neighborhoods around the apartment and the commute to my internship site and classes was not bad at all. I loved the city and the program, can't wait to go back for more!!

I got to travel to Cairns, QLD Australia and go to the Great Barrier Reef. I chose this program so I could get job experience and see the world. I had a one bedroom apartment with a roommate where each had our own twin bed. The apartment was fully equip with a full kitchen and washer/dryer. Super nice and in good location.

My most memorable experience was attending Prince William and Kate's welcome reception to Australia, and shaking hands with them. I was nominated by my internship placement, and was chosen out of only a few hundred people. Never would I had imagined shaking hands with Prince William becoming landing in Australia, but like I said, life's better down unda! I knew I wanted to go to Australia so besides that I was open to anywhere. I figured a central city would be good, in terms of being able to travel so Sydney was high on my list. The attribute that drew me most to CAPA Sydney was the ability to complete an internship. I lived in the Meriton Apartments, which I usually describe as a long stay hotel. They had two full baths, a kitchen, washer/dryer in each room, a spacious living room and at least one balcony! There were 4 of us from our program in my room, two of us per bedroom. It was very new, and we had access to a gym and pool that was a short walk away. The staff was always very friendly and very trustworthy when cleaning the rooms! Wonderful place to live.

CAPA help me so much from Interning Abroad in Sydney. I found myself to be more liberating young woman. When you are 15 hours ahead of everyone you know you can’t call you mom and have her fix your problems. You have to figure it out for yourself. I found a new confidence about my writing and journalism career that I am glad I acquired. This experience has taught me to except people for who they are. This trip has made me want try to learn something about all cultures and to continue to travel the world.

The program offered so much! Living in Sydney, taking a few classes and being able to intern somewhere in the city! The housing was gorgeous and in a great location. You immediately make friends in your program by living with and down the hall from most of them. Being able to intern and get real experience working abroad, along with getting immersed in Australia's culture! This program had the best of both worlds, a great academic and social opportunity!

CAPA was the perfect program for me. I wanted to experience everything possible while going abroad and CAPA helped me to accomplish it. I was able to intern, take classes, travel, and immerse myself in the Aussie culture. Interning abroad is something I would highly recommend doing. It gave me more insight into the way I view my home country, and well as helped me to see parts of Australia that I never would have seen otherwise. While working for a non-profit organization, I was able to connect on a more personal base with my host country. Classes abroad are also great in showing you more about the country you are living. I was able to gain an insight into australian history, politics, and business. Also I was able to reflect on my internship in these classes as well, which helped me to realize what I liked and didn't like about the work life culture in Australia. Traveling is also absolutely amazing. Whether its throughout the territory of Sydney or exploring other places, every sight you see is breath taking. Make a list of all the things you want to see and do before you leave, and try to cross them all off! Overall I had an amazing experience with CAPA. I loved this program and would do it again in a heartbeat if given the opportunity.

I only wish that I would have gotten the opportunity to take my class with Australians so that I could have met more Australians who were my age.

Studying abroad was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I learned so much about myself and the Australian culture, my perspectives were broadened, and I made everlasting memories. I have found that my internship experience while abroad has proven to be very useful in interviews and on my resume. I can't thank CAPA enough for providing such an enriching experience!

My memorable experience was snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef and swimming at numerous beaches I chose the program because of the location, opportunity for an internship. The housing was amazing. Each apartment had its own balcony, full kitchen with utensils, and also had 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms for 4 people. We also had full access to a gym, pool and sauna and were a short walk away from 2 supermarkets and restaurants.

All my life I wanted to go to Australia, and I always thought it was just a dream that would never happen. When the opportunity came and I actually went, my dream became a reality. Before I left, I pictured nothing but beaches and the outback, but Sydney was so much more. It was a large, clean city that you could walk through without a worry or care in the world.

Spring break, where I got to travel to South East Asia and my internship. The whole program in general was a memorable experience but those two things stick out to me the most. I wanted to study abroad in Australia, and when I told this to my abroad advisor she asked if I would be interested in an internship. Of course I said yes, and so she told me about CAPA. The rest is history. We stayed in a "serviced apartment" which is basically an extended stay hotel, except a very nice one. It was a two bedroom with a laundry room, full kitchen, living room (with cable tv), and a dining room. It was probably the nicest place I've lived in college. They even cleaned our place and changed our bedding and towels once a week, so spoiled! On top of that they provided the laundry detergent, dish soap, shampoo, TP, etc. so there were zero extra living costs!

My most memorable experience in Australia would have to be during my break when I went up north to Cairns, where the Great Barrier Reef is. We went scuba diving and snorkeling there and it is by far the most memorable and meaningful experience of my life. I knew originally that I wanted to go to Australia, but I chose this program because that CAPA offers an internship along with classes. Being able to intern abroad is very rare, and it was an experience that I really wanted to take part in. The living accommodations were very nice and much better than my expectations. We stayed at an apartment styled hotel, so I really enjoyed that aspect. It's located right across the street from a nice park. Also, we had membership to the gym nearby and the aquatic center.

I spent the Fall of 2013 studying and interning in Sydney, Australia with CAPA. I had an internship with the South Sydney Rabbitohs - A National Rugby League Team. While I was there I took four courses which all counted for upper division business course credit at my home university. I can not say enough good things about the program and the city itself. Studying abroad was by far the best decision I've made in my academic career. For future Sydney students I would recommend grocery shopping to save money on breakfast and lunches sometimes. Of course eating the local food is a huge part of studying abroad but there are times where saving money can be helpful. Also, do your best to mingle with the locals. I wish I would have been able to meet more Australians. Aside from those two pointers, everything will be easy to figure out. CAPA does a great job of setting you up in an awesome housing situation as well as setting up the classes you pick and an Internship in your desired field. If you have the chance to do this - what are you waiting for?! Get out there and see the world, you will love it!

My trip to OZ was amazing. I had the time of my life, CAPA is so supportive in the entire process and the internship option was the biggest highlight for me. Being able to gain experience working abroad is what set CAPA apart for me. The living is absolutely wonderful and very comfortable. The optional activities such as the walk about park, and tour of the city were great. I loved the optional trips for the entire group and opportunities to bond with the other students. I really enjoyed the week break to be able to travel as well.

I had a great semester abroad in Sydney, Australia. I was able to intern and take classes through CAPA. CAPA offers internships in many different fields. They also do weekend excursion trips to show us different highlights of Australia. For instance, we went to some wildlife parks where we saw kangaroos and koalas. We also went to the Blue Mountains and did a nice hike there. Overall, I have to say CAPA is a great program, by providing me with the internship option.

Sydney was unlike anything I have ever experienced. Studying abroad was the greatest choice I could have made. Arriving in Sydney was a new experience that I would soon never forget. The country is a beautiful place highlighted by the coast and Sydney in particular. Getting to all the tourist attractions was a treat and truth be told, seeing the opera house in person takes your breath away. Being in Australia for three months is something I will probably never be able to do again unless I were to live there. Walking around the city was a treat, and being with the Sydneysiders made me feel great and thoroughly welcomed. The night life was great, the weather was excellent, and the experience was unforgettable.

My time in Sydney was more than I could have ever hoped for. I decided to study abroad with CAPA because I thought the opportunity to intern while abroad was so unique that it was something I couldn't pass up. CAPA pairing me with my internship site, the HIV/AIDS Legal Centre of NSW was the best thing that I got out of studying abroad with CAPA. I was incredibly impressed with CAPA's ability to match us as students with internships that not only contributed to our studies but to our overall cultural experience. As far as just studying with CAPA, looking back I now can see the knew exactly how far to hold our hand when we entered the country and then when we needed to be pushed off the cliff to go discover it on our own. I enjoyed being more on my own while living in Sydney, but knowing that CAPA was there when I needed something I couldn't figure out on my own. Academics: I loved that my teachers strived to get my classes out of the classroom and into the city as much as possible. They did a fantastic job at stimulating an interest in learning about the city we were living in. Living Situation: Living in serviced apartments were fantastic and in a great area. Just wish it wasn't quite so far from our campus.

If you are looking for a program that gives you both an educational and professional experience, look no further than the CAPA Education Program. With locations including London, Beijing, and Sydney, CAPA will let you learn about the culture of your host city, while also letting you gain experience in your major through internships for credit. The housing is top notch with all your standard amenities, with certain locations also having weekly cleanup services. Getting around is easy with a public transportation card included with your costs. Academics: Make sure to evenly space out your classwork, otherwise the last few weeks will cause much suffering.

Studying in Australia was the best decision of my life. Not only did I get to travel to a new country but I made some of the greatest life long friends. I've been home for a little over five months now and I still think about Sydney every day and how much I miss it and can't wait to get back there! CAPA did an amazing job with setting up the entire program. We stayed in serviced apartments that had a grocery store, liquor store, and restaurants all within the little apartment complex. Also since we all lived in the apartments together we were able to establish friendships quickly and easily. Having an internship was the high light of my entire experience. I absolutely loved going to work and it is because the Australian attitude is so laid back, that work was always fun. My co-workers were always laughing, I was never stressed out, and we hung out outside of work. So not only did I make some more life long friends, I also made a ton of connections. When it comes to finding a job not only will it look great that I worked in a foreign country but the fact that they'll be able to write me recommendations and potentially help me get started down there if I were to move there. Overall my CAPA experience was life changing and I don't regret one thing about it. I would recommend this program to anyone who likes to travel, wants to experience a new country, and enjoys making friends, because after all- the Australians were the nicest people I've ever met.

Going on the CAPA Program is an experience you'll never forget. Besides it's relatively cheap cost, the internship placement, and the location, there are many things about this program that make it unique. You get to stay in the Meriton Serviced Apartments- not in a dorm at a University. Think of it as staying off campus, with incentives. Each apartment has at least two balconies, 24 hour room service, a full kitchen, and two bathrooms, not to mention the spacious living area with a large flat screen TV (but you probably won't be watching too much if you spend your time the right way), and the gym and sauna access. It's conveniently located next to a small market, some shops, restaurants, the highway, a fabulous park (with great sight lines of the city), and the bus stop. It is without a doubt a great place to stay. You get to live with other Americans on the program, so if you are fearful of living on your own, you get the camaraderie and a little dose of culture to fall back on when you need it. Some planned trips in the beginning of the program allow you to make friends with the other students very early on. Of course, this doesn't mean you don't meet Australians or anyone from a different culture. I certainly met many people from all over the world through my travels and still communicate with them today- 6 months later. As is the case with any abroad program and experience, meeting people, and immersing yourself in the culture is completely up to you. Australians are all around- trust me when I say you meet many people. Make the most of it. The program is there for you when you need any assistance. I can't say enough about how they helped everyone on the trip. While abroad, I was more freely able to step out of my comfort zone, as high as 12,000 ft in the air, and as low as 60 ft in the waters below. I gained invaluable cultural awareness, experience, the knowledge to successfully live on my own, and the lasting sensation that I can do anything in the world I put my mind to. I highly recommend the program.

This abroad program had everything I wanted. It had the educational experience, the internship experience, and the immersion experience. For the educational experience this program pairs with professors from Australian Catholic University. I took Australian Government and Politics which gave me an understanding of the history and basic structure of their government. It was especially interesting because while we were studying abroad we had the unique opportunity to see their government head get voted out of office. I also took and internship course that allowed me to reflect on the work I had done for Caritas and help me understand what I want from a Career. For the internship experience I worked at a international nonprofit organization based in Sydney. Although this was not my first choice for an internship I loved working there. It was a very nurturing environment and I learned how to work on a fundraising team. The travel experience is what I value most from my time abroad. Even though I was only there for six weeks I only spent two weekends in Sydney. I had the opportunity to travel every weekend which was very important to me. I traveled to Melbourne, Hamilton Island, Center Head Beach, and Port Stephens. Every place I went learned something new about the Australian culture. Overall I had a Wonderful experience and I would absolutely do this program again!

While abroad I was able to gain knowledge in my field of interest as I worked with a professional basketball team. The CAPA staff was very helpful in showing us the city as well as getting us to become friendly with the other CAPA students. In this program you have the opportunity to network, travel, and have one of the best experiences that you will ever have.

While I was in Sydney I completed a 140 hour internship with Bradfield Bentley Pty Ltd. I not only developed a lot in my personal life but also my professional life. I learned how to adapt to a new environment and culture and still be able to provide a practical view on the industry. My time spent in Sydney was also occupied by taking an International Business class. This was an extraordinary experience considering I was able to take what I was learning in class and apply it to my international internship.

Studying abroad with CAPA was an incredible experience. CAPA arranged living situations, transportation and internship placements, which made the transition abroad much less stressful. They led multiple events to introduce students to Australian culture and staff members were always helpful. If I could do it all over again, I would in a heartbeat! Academics: I had a 6-credit internship, so I did not take any other courses besides the Learning Through Internships supplement class. Living Situation: We were living in the Meriton Serviced Apartments, which were new, furnished and cleaned weekly. There were 4 students to an apartment, but the rooms were spacious and comfortable Cultural Immersion: CAPA provided many opportunities to learn about the Australian culture. However, since we were living with a ton of Americans at the Meriton Apartments, I had very minimal interaction with locals. I would imagine that students who chose a home stay would have experienced greater cultural immersion.

Completing an internship while in Sydney, Australia was probably the best decision I have ever made. The opportunity to learn about the workplace culture of a different country and meet and work with locals was an unforgettable experience. CAPA International Education organized everything I needed to succeed in my internship including finding an internship site, accommodation, and organized a travel agency for weekend getaways to vineyards, surf trips, and the Great Barrier Reef. The program was absolutely incredible and each student was given the freedom to explore the city on their own after the first weekend. The CAPA staff were amazing and always there to help and provide tips to make each student's time abroad amazing.

If I could describe my experience in Sydney in 3 words, those words would be Informative, relaxing, fun, insightful, lovely, awesome…Ok I know that was definitely more than 3 words but it’s just sooo hard to put a limit to the description of my Journey. Coming to Sydney I was more focused on gaining experience in the workplace than “exploring” the city like most students did (not that I didn’t want to enjoy the city, but my internship was my main priority). I was hoping that all the knowledge I acquired from my financial related courses taken at Purdue would transpire the tasks I performed while interning and they certainly did. After completing my internship, I have no doubts in my mind that Financial Counseling and Planning is the route I want to take as a career. I am thankful for my awesome supervisor! I will most likely never forget about her due to the fact that we went skydiving together (highlight of my trip!). Some of my best memories in Sydney also include the blue mountains trip, hunter valley, and all the attractions I got to visit. I am thankful for my coworkers for allowing me to be part of their end of financial year lunch and farewell lunch they had for me. That truly showed how much they care about their interns, which I appreciated. I am also grateful for our instructors, and all the knowledge I gained from them. I often do not come across instructors as passionate as Varina and Andrew about their job. Last but not least, I would like to thank CAPA for giving me the opportunity to be part of this program, and making my experience worthwhile, and rewarding. I am pleased to have gotten to know some of the ladies from CAPA personally ( you know who you are lol) I am definitely planning on coming back to Sydney one day, during summertime of course! I will make sure that I keep in touch with all of these awesome people!

This experience taught me to get out of my comfort zone and live spontaneously! It was a blast. I became much more sociable after this trip and better at doing things on a whim. DEFINITELY stay with a host family. Mine treated me like family and allowed me to have a great time abroad - plus they made AMAZING food. :)

I don't know how to describe Australia. You have to experience it yourself. The CAPA Staff are very professional and helpful and do everything they can to make you feel at home and comfortable. I found CAPA to be encouraging and helpful. My internship placement was also wonderful, it was my favorite part of the Study Abroad because of who I worked with. Living Situation: We stayed at the Meriton Apts. in Waterloo. They are more like penthouses than apartments. We had a full kitchen supplied with kitchen utensils, and a washing machine and dryer. There was a balcony and plenty of space for our clothes. Cultural Immersion: Very integrated! The staff made an effort to merge us with the culture and one the first day we were given a plethora of information about what Australians do and don't do, so we could avoid the mistakes of being a tourist. Program Administration: The CAPA Sydney staff are incredible. Every time I went into the office they greeted me with a smile, even if I looked rough from a long day. They were incredibly helpful and kind during my time in Sydney. Health and Safety: Sydney is very safe. I never once felt like I was in danger, or in harms way

Such a great experience. Excellent living situation and not much of a culture shock. The dialogue really taught a lot about Australian culture. Professors/dialogue leaders really helped facilitate our experiences there in terms of sight seeing (we saw so much in such a short time). ACU professors were great and definitely taught me things I'll never forget.

Studying abroad in Sydney through CAPA International absolutely changed my life. It opened my eyes to a different culture and further developed me into an independent person. CAPA provides students with so much information regarding the surrounding areas and opportunities to explore as a group. I was able to do everything that I wanted to do during my time abroad. One of my accomplishments during my time in Australia was learning how to navigate their public transportation system, which includes ferries, buses, and trains. By the end of my trip, I could get around the big city of Sydney with no problems. Other than learning how to maneuver the Sydney area, I thoroughly enjoyed having the opportunity to have an internship in a local school for kids with special needs, which correlates with my major. I was able to learn so much and create an international reference that will help in finding a job once I graduate. I miss Australia so much and look forward to traveling back there someday! I definitely recommend studying abroad in Australia through CAPA International!!

I can't even begin to explain how much I enjoyed my time and internship in Sydney, Australia! I am so glad I went through my school's study abroad office to find CAPA as they were able to line me up with an internship that was my first choice option. The CAPA Sydney staff is wonderful and was always there to help anyone if we needed something. A typical day for me in Sydney consisted of taking the public transportation system from Waterloo to Potts Point. I worked in a real estate office in Potts Point and I was responsible for a great amount of prospecting. I was also responsible for assisting with open houses by helping set up and get contact information and comments from guests who were visiting the property. I really enjoyed my internship and know many other people who I went with that enjoyed their internships as well. The internship is a great way to network with people in Australia and is a giant boost to your resume. I find myself still talking about my internship and my trip to Australia. It is just a great experience. When I wasn't working, I was out and about exploring the Sydney beaches, checking out museums, different parts of the city, shopping, and hiking the trails from beach to beach. The beaches were definitely my favorite thing outside of working because they are simply amazing and fun. I also had the opportunity to take part in various trips to other parts of Australia, including the Great Barrier Reef! It was great to be able to get away from the city for a weekend and go exploring the reef and the Daintree Rainforest. I felt that it was important for me to see those places while I was in the country. When it comes to difficulties that I encountered, I would say my main struggle was when I first arrived in Sydney. I was aware of the bus system but I accidentally got on the bus going the wrong way. I ended up on the other side of town but a kind bus driver was able to help me get to the proper stop to get me back home. The citizens of Sydney were always willing to help me whenever I had a question and they were always in the American culture. Another difficulty I encountered would be the different terms some Sydney-siders use that we don't use in America. However, the other employees in my internship site were able to fill me in and it really helped me out. I thought everyone in my office was extremely nice and treated me with respect and they were always willing to help me out. Overall, this experience was simply the best experience I have ever had in my entire life. I got to open up to a new culture and a new country while gaining valuable work experience that will separate me from others when I find a job after graduating from college. It will definitely be an experience I talk about for the rest of my life.

Through this experience, I learned to be independent. In the Sydney program, you live on your own and have to get yourself to your internship through public transportation. Learning to use public transportation and learning my way through the city was my biggest accomplishment. I was so proud of myself by the end of my time in Sydney, because I could get myself absolutely anywhere in the city. I always felt completely safe using the public transportation. Everything was clean and everyone was very friendly. Difficulties: I struggled to stay on a budget in Sydney. Everything is very expensive and I always wanted to go out and do things. I spent more than I had wanted to, but in the end I do not have a single regret. It was all worth it and every experience I had was incredible. A few of the things that I got to do including: surfing, snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef, climbing the Harbor Bridge, and seeing a show in the opera house. And these are just the big things. My day to day life was just as exciting. We never had any down time, and the CAPA program was great about providing some activities for us to do. The staff was always very friendly and helpful, and I always felt very supported by them. Academics: I learned a lot about Australia through the classes, but they were not very strenuous. This was a good thing and a bad thing, in that I liked not doing a lot of work, but I felt like I took a semester off. Living Situation: The apartment is incredible! I loved where we lived. The only downside was how far it was from our campus. It took about 45 minutes to get to our classes. Cultural Immersion: A lot of the cultural immersion is for you to do on your own. CAPA offered some things, but most of the immersion I got was from me finding it. Program Administration: I had no idea that the CAPA staff would be so helpful! They were so friendly, and provided so much help for me throughout the three months I was there. Health and Safety: I felt so safe and comfortable in the city at all times. Even taking public transportation late at night, I never felt unsafe.

My time in Australia is filled with so many great memories of the friends I made and the experiences I had. It honestly was more than I expected. CAPA was such a great program t do because once we got there they gave use all the resources and tools we needed to navigate the country. They were there to make sure that we didnt worry about much our first couple of days and had events planned for us that helped us really emerge ourselves into the country and its culture. CAPA was so helpful throughout the whole process from pre-departure things to the last night. Knowing that you have a support system to turn to when you were unsure of anything (esp. being in a different country) was a great feeling. Academic weren't tough and interning while there provided us with such great experiences as well as helping up boost our resumes. They were spot on with the placements and really took into consideration our fields of study.

CAPA was a great program if you are looking to gain work experience in a different culture. The internship was the main focus of the program. The classes were small and we were only in class with other CAPA students. Sydney is beautiful and there were endless vacation spots and activities to stay very busy on the weekends.
