The best summer study abroad possible

I attended the Israel Summer Business Academy Summer 2014. It was everything I expected and more. The program was not the typical study abroad one would normally think of where you go to class every day and are on your own at night. The administration and faculty on the program made ISBA much more than that.
The ISBA academics were incredible. The program was focused on Entrepreneurship and Innovation. We were all paired up into small teams and worked with startup companies. Companies gave us real problems they were facing as a startup and asked us to work on them. By the end of our time in Israel each team had completed a consulting project for their respective company. It was great because I gained real world experience in the consulting field that I can use in the future. Besides working with startups, we also visited firms such as Intel and Google, visited startup incubators such as Nielsen's in Israel, developed a business plan for a startup idea and attended traditional class a couple of days a week. I learned more in the 6 weeks I spent in Israel than I did all freshman year of college.
Not only were the academics amazing, but ISBA did a great job at making the most of our time in Israel. On weekends we traveled around the country as a group. The ISBA staff arranged for an amazing tour guide who traveled with us. We went all over the country including the Dead Sea, Masada, the Negev, Jerusalem, the Golan Heights, and the Sea of Galilee. We were able to get the full Israel experience and see all of the sights.
Not only were the academics and excursions amazing, but we were also able to have an amazing time in Tel Aviv. Our apartments were right in the heart of Tel Aviv in the Dizengoff area. This was ideal because we were able to take advantage of all that Tel Aviv has to offer when we weren't busy with other activities. We spent a lot of time at the beach, shopping, going to great restaurants, and experiencing the Tel Aviv nightlife.
My experience with ISBA was overall amazing. I would recommend this program in a heartbeat to people of all backgrounds. Israel has something to offer people of all backgrounds. I'm not Jewish and I had an amazing time in Israel. By far the best summer I've had and I would do it all over again if I could.
