Vesalius College

For me, this experience was exactly what I had hoped for: an international school filled with international courses and students. The political science courses especially drew me in as I could choose from a variety of political systems of various countries in a small and intimate setting. It was also wonderful to speak in different languages on a daily basis. I could not have asked for more.

Teachers are very reachable and know their students on a first name basis. VeCo also allows for students to give presentations and being very involved. The courses and their content are very interesting and I feel they successfully prepare students for the future.

One of the greatest advantages of studying at Vesalius College is the opportunity to work in small groups. Such atmosphere encourages interaction in the classroom. Courses are also organized in such a way that each student can find something suitable on the basis of his/her interests and develop inner potential.

My time here at Vesalius College can be summed up in one word: amazing! The ability to go to classes with students from all over the world is such a great experience and I have learned so much from them. You are taught by professors who provide an international education and you are able to work one-on-one with them in the classroom. Also I was able to do an internship here in Brussels through the Vesalius Internship Program and it was the best decision that I made during my study abroad experience. I was able to work in a multi-cultural and multi-lingual environment and it really opened my eyes to the future career opportunities that I could have once I graduate. The Vesalius Student Government (VSG) is also amazing because they organize events for all the students to attend and it is a great way to become more immersed in the school and to meet new, exciting people. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly, that you really feel like you are at home. Brussels itself is such a fun city and there is always something to do. When you want to do some traveling it is a quick flight to anywhere and you are able to see so much. For myself, I was able to travel to so many countries that I never thought I would ever be able to see, but it is so feasible when you are located in Brussels. I am happy to say that I fell in love with Vesalius, Brussels, the culture and made life-long friends. I couldnt have asked for a better study abroad experience.

It's hard to forget when one picks up and leaves all that they know and embark on an entirely new and unpredictable journey. In a bit of a unique turn of events, I decided to spend my semester abroad in Brussels, Belgium because my father is Belgian and I actually hold citizenship. My time in Brussels and at Vesalius College has been a collection of amazing memories that I will always cherish and look forward to sharing. The experience here was remarkable. Not only were the students entirely welcoming and supportive, but the faculty and staff were equally challenging and motivating. Living in Brussels, the capital of Europe, and studying at Vesalius was a combination of the big city with the laidback feel that only a city like Brussels could possess. I cannot believe how much I have learned about Europe, and about how different the culture and the lifestyle here is in comparison to the US. Every step I took was a new learning experience. Paris, Amsterdam, Dublin, and London are just a few of the cities I was able to visit during my four-month stay! On top of that I was able to take a school trip of important WWI and WWII battlegrounds in France, which was an unforgettable experience. Studying abroad is a once in a lifetime opportunity and what better choice than Brussels, Belgium where everything is centrally located. I am very grateful to Vesalius for maintaining such a wonderful study abroad program in Brussels because of how much I have blossomed in these four months.

What has made my experience in Brussels so amazing? Could it be the opportunity to meet and share opinions with hundreds of young adults from all over the world? Could it be the vibrant culture emanating from every corner in the wondrous city that is Brussels? Perhaps it's the rich melange of different languages and dialects I hear daily on my walk to school. It could be the lifelong friendships that have flourished in just one short semester. Whatever the reason may be, my time in Brussels at Vesalius College has been, without doubt, life changing. I have been able to visit countries and cities I never dreamed I would see at the age of 20. But above all of the other passport stamped destinations, Brussels has stolen my heart. The inspiring music, art, food and charming Belgian lifestyle will forever be preserved in the fondest memory. This chance to live and learn in Brussels is one for which I will always be grateful, and one I will certainly never forget.
